Any idea if this game has any plans for DLC, or are they going straight to SoD 3 now that they are aligned to MS Studios?

They've already announced some DLC here:

https://www.engadget.com/2018/06/29/state-of-decay-2-celebrates-july-4th-with-themed-dlc-and-firew/

more content due to be released this September. The upcoming Daybreak Pack will feature a new mode that lets you assume the role of a Red Talon soldier and protect your position against incoming zombie hordes.

Patch 2.1 is live.

https://www.stateofdecay.com/2018/07/03/patch-2-1-is-live/

  • The "Purchase" DLC button on Main Menu now works properly for players with new profiles who don't own any DLC.
  • The mission "Builder: Make Your Own Gear" can now be completed if the player has a built-in Machine Shop at their base.
  • Characters on the Community screen now re-orient correctly when changes are made to the community.
  • Newly selected leaders are now positioned correctly on the Community screen.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes newly recruited community members would overlap or be standing too close to others on the Community screen.
  • Characters now properly gain experience in their close combat specialization when fighting with their close combat weapon.
  • Characters who have earned at least 1 star in their Gunslinging specialization are now able to snap-aim with the [ A ] button as expected.
  • The in-game Independence Pack purchase confirmation banner no longer eagerly pops up with every player session.
  • Fixed several missions that occasionally couldn't be completed due to missing items (such as Lost and Found: Search for the Mace, Eagle Eye: Sniper's Stash, and the various resource-scavenging Radio Menu missions). These missions should now properly place the necessary items in the world.

They just put out the Independence pack (extra vehicles and weapons) and there's another pack on its way:

"After wiping out the blood plague and celebrating your legacy with this festive pack, get ready for completely separate shenanigans in the upcoming Daybreak Pack this September. That all-new content lets you take the fight to the zombies, featuring an exciting new mode where you play as a well-equipped Red Talon soldier. You'll work to complete a challenging objective while protecting your fortified position against waves of zombies and freaks to earn new rewards and weapons."

I finally killed all the plague hearts in my town. I found an automatic shotgun that made quick work of three of them but the other seven tested my luck. Now on to the legacy missions and finishing the builder. Unlimited power on my next game? Yes please.

I'm stuck in this game. It can be so buggy.

I've been doing the cycle of Builder Legacy missions for probably a full week now. Every time I start up the game, I start the cycle from the top. I get to the mission where you have to build the sniper tower, then the next mission, which I assume is the one where some out-of-towners come to your base, never triggers. Nothing happens for a long time in-game. And if I didn't get frustrated and close the game, the next in-game day the missions start from the top again!

I have no clue why this is happening, and it's really hampering my enjoyment of the game. I will say, I have 9 members of my community, and I have a lot of scattered survivors on the full map allied to me already, like over a dozen.

That's definitely not normal and it sounds like a new bug. You should send it to the devs:

For those of you that have started a new game, I'm wondering what survivors you would keep. I have four that I'm considering. I want to do the trader next so I would be able to get the level three farm. I have a survivor that is specialized in agriculture so I'm taking her with me.

The other three have maxed out computer, mechanics and medicine.

Which two do you think would be most useful? I'm currently leaning toward mechanics and medicine.

It really depends what you want your next playthrough to be like. The truth is, it's fairly easy to complete any of the Legacy missions without much specialization. Computers are nice if you want more outposts, medicine lets you upgrade an infirmary to a med lab, but truthfully, if you have a good staple of survivors, the infirmary probably gives you enough recovery/max vitality to get through the game as is, mechanics gets you you the machine shop which'll auto repair cars, which is good if you plan to stick around your next map for a long time and want to not worry about that much, but otherwise, there's enough cars out there. I would lean towards keeping agriculture/computer + 1, personally, but I'm a fiend for more outposts.

That's what I'm thinking. I want as many outposts as possible, as early as possible.

Just finished a 4 hours session. The performance is much improved. My friends were no longer kicked from the game randomly. There were no random hiccups while driving either.

We also destroyed all the plague hearts with only Sheriff missions to do. We still have yet to kill any Bloaters or Juggernauts though.

Anyone notice they finally added cops? After the independence day update, one of my characters mentioned his brother was a cop, which kicked off a new quest that ended in him being added to my team.

I have the Independence Day pack. How do I collect it? It said that there should be a radio command but I didn't see anything.

I just realized that I was using the command center and not the actual radio on a character.

Xbox or PC? On Xbox at least you have to actually download the pack, it's not included in the update. Then there will be a radio command called Independence something or other.

I'm on Xbox. I downloaded the pack but what I didn't realize was that I had to use the character radio. I thought I had to use the command center. I ended up using the weapons extensively during the final mission.

I'm already on to my next community... Debating on whether I should go trader or warlord.

Warlord is more fun and the legacy boon you get
(stash of guns at your base)
is better.

I just finished my first playthrough and ended with the Sherif Legacy. I've now been staring at the screen where you have to choose your next 3 survivors who are going to be in your new community...

My main character is maxed out but has Construction as her 5th skill... not sure I really need that but I can't let go of her... I want to start with a mechanic, a doctor and a gardener. Well, at least, that's what I'm considering. I would then have to drop my computer gal and my main character... jeez... I can't make a choice.

What did you guys do when you were in the same spot?

Do all the items in my storage carry over if I resettle from one home site to another?

Oh it does, and you even get material refunds for your facilities! I love how they've streamlined it this time around.

So, in multiplayer coop, what is the point of me joining someone else's game? I gain influence? Can I store items I want to take back to my community in storage?
Given that I can't help upgrade stuff or change character or recruit this feels a little hollow to me. Am I missing something? (Genuine question - I actually really want to like the game!)

Any stuff you find in anyone else's game, you can take home. You can also use their facilities to get items you can't. For example if they have a forge, you can use that to craft a badass weapon and take it back into your own game with you.

I believe you can gain influence but since I haven't tried co-op, I'm not a 100% on that. The rewards for engaging in jolly co-operation are certainly there, however.

You can change between your characters in co-op. Has to be at a base or an Outpost just like in single player.

After playing this with friends for 3 days, I'm still baffled by this game. The mechanics are good, there is enough to do and so many things are done so well.
But the coop is completely broken, the physics are 2004 and this game runs worse than many other games.

7/10 for me after playing this game mostly in coop.

The game in coop sounds like a mess. I played entirely solo and had a great time, I guess it was the right choice.

The biggest problem with coop for me is this:
The host has to do all the community management, which requires lots of work while others can't really do much in the meantime. You can't get further than 200 metres from one another, so you can't really search for stuff while the host is managing the base.
+ not being able to walk through a door while someone is standing near it is very frustrating and stupid. :P

I played this for the first time in about a month with a friend online and it's worse. What happened? The game lags and freezes constantly. The frame rate is horrible. I was hoping it received some patches when I came back to it would be better...

I'm about half way through my second run and I ran into an area on the map that won't load. Like, I set the controller down for almost five minutes while the loading wheel was up. I deleted the game and reinstalled it. Hopefully that works because this run is going extremely well otherwise.

Thought I'd pop in for a quick second and ask a quick question. Did they patch it in yet to where when you are starting a second game (and choosing your leader powers for the next playthrough) you can choose which area you start in? It was random at launch right?

I'm on my third game right now. In my experience, the game just cycles through the three maps. Unless they patched that in a couple of days ago, then I don't think you have the option to choose which map you spawn on.

Man this game's biggest problem is the lack of difficulty after the first few hours. Haven't really had much trouble with bugs.

It's astounding just how buggy this fucking game is 3 months after launch. Played it for the first time in a while, and I'm consistently getting quests where npcs refuse to spawn, or randomly warp to another location upon getting to them. But hey, at least they added Colonial zombies to the game.

That happened to me in my last play through and I had to leave the area for a while to get some NCPs to spawn. It was especially annoying because it was a legacy mission. Luckily, I was able to talk to them after coming back.

They're trying. NPCs not spawning happened with the latest patch. Every patch so far has fixed something and broken something else.

So how is the Daybreak stuff? Do you just start it from the main menu or something?
I think it's fun! The change of pace from the main game is refreshing, though I'm not sure how long that will last with only one map. There's a lot of stuff to unlock, both achievement-wise and in game.

You do start it from the main menu, which takes you to the Daybreak menu. There you can host or matchmake and view your collection of unlocked items.
