Oh god, not that godawful channel. All Switchplanet does is compile gameplay trailers into a compilation, stick godawful background music on it and go full-in on clickbait, both in title and thumbnail even when they don't relate to the video itself. All they seem to care about is clicks and cashing in on the Switch's popularity, since 99% of the time when you click on a video that promises "New "insert genre here" games CONFIRMED for Switch they only pull random indie games or things that aren't technically in the genre they label, but rather look close enough that they slap it in a video

Not a good place for eShop recommendations, IMO

I mean, it's just 11 fps games that are upcoming.

More than I expected

Most relevant here, I'd suppose. A guy I know is in Venezuela; he doesn't have Switch Online and can't get it right now. Could I purchase him a 3-month code from (North American) Amazon and send it his way, or do I need to get a certain card (well, code)? Showing my ignorance here, but I'm not sure if South America has its own eShop or not.

I could just ask "are you on NA eShop" but I don't want to do that since I'd definitely feel awkward in that position, and just figure he would as well. Really would prefer to just drop a gift code into the inbox.

Those icons are identical to the mobile versions.

The prices are bonkers. $12 for ancient cell phone games priced $5 on mobile.

I can't imagine anyone who owns a Switch doesn't own a smartphone. Get them on mobile, save $7. There's really no reason to get them on Switch.

7 Billion Humans finally arrives next week (25/10)!

And another couch co-op game, Tied Together, releases next week. Good times, good times.

So I finished True Fear: Forsaken Souls Part 1 (quite a mouthful) and heartily recommend it to point and click fans. It's a horror themed point and click/hidden object that is imo done well, with a story that remains interesting from start to finish.

A piece of advice - unless you are not very good with such games, play the game in Expert mode. Anything else imo would end up being too easy in most sections for many people (you can switch difficulty on the go though).

There were a few times I nearly succumbed to look in a walkthrough, but I didn't, except in a single case where the solution to a combination puzzle was really on the obscure side (the hints in that one case were imo actually misleading). That was in the bonus chapter though.

There is a demo in the eshop - it is the beginning of the game, and if you buy the game, whatever you already did in the demo carries on (so if you care about trophies and such, you may want to switch right away in the demo to expert mode or you may possibly forfeit on a couple of trophies. Then again I think you can restart the game).

If you've played any of the Artifex Mundi games: how similar is it?

edit: Oh, and Nintendolife did an interview with the developers of The Room:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...inning_puzzler_the_room_is_perfect_for_switch

From that interview, it seems like it isn't just a quick port.

It's a ridiculous hike for these particular games.

They're great games but it just doesn't make any sense to buy them here on Switch. They're really perfect for mobile.

I haven't played any of the Artifex Mundi games yet, though Enigmatis 2 is on my "To Buy Soon" list, just haven't gotten around to it. So I don't have a point of reference to compare to.

True Fear's demo though (which is the beginning of the game, including cut scenes and everything) is a good representation of the game, only difference being that I didn't really get stuck anywhere at that stage but did several times later on. If you try it, remember to switch to Expert difficulty.

Having a demo is what made the difference for me in getting this game over others - I started playing the demo and realized that I really wanted to continue even before the demo ended (I don't know when it ends). Given the $9.99 price point, I just stopped playing the demo and continued with the game from the exact same point.

The Room is also on my radar :-)

Game of the Day

fzsmocol5azyumuukvpbkoseps.jpg

It's 1986 in California. A group of friends discover a mysterious pink stone that allows to travel between two realms. This gang will live the summer of their lives in an adventure that will get them involved in a government conspiracy. Control five kids with special skills while fighting and solving puzzles in order to save their families and the world.

Crossing Souls is an action-adventure set in a California suburb in the midst of a supernatural event that rocks the small community as grand forces siege the town. Control five characters: Chris, Matt, Charlie, Big Joe and Kevin, each one with their own skills and combat styles. Change characters on the fly and use each character's specialties to overcome any obstacle and target your foe's weaknesses. Fight in real-time, solve clever puzzles, face off against powerful bosses and play special levels inspired by 80's arcade video games.

  • Feel the eighties - Do you feel that? Do you smell that? Yeah, it's the eighties. A story set in 1986 full of references such as The Goonies, Gremlins, Back to the Future and many more.
  • Do you like Cartoons? - The cutscenes are inspired by 80's cartoons, totally original and never seen before in a videogame.
  • Why is this happening? - Be part of a journey between two realms, two realities: life and death. The story includes a government conspiracy, thousand-year-old characters, cowboys, pirates, ice cream, pizza, cheeseburgers, basketball… well, you got it.
  • This music rocks! - An original score that includes tracks inspired by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith as well as radical Synth-Pop in the purest 80's style. Play as if it was one of your favorite movies!
  • Ready? Fight! - You can kick multiple enemies in the ass stylishly. Fight against street gangs, a secret army, dead monsters, creepy ghosts and many more in frantic real-time combats where a good strategy will be essential to win. Main characters have unique talents and aptitudes.

Finding working Combinations for items is hard, but it seems quite relaxing and fine.

I'm in near the start of Year 3 after maybe an hour or so of play, but I know after Year 16, the game lets you carry over things, so I reckon I can get another 2-3 Playtimes at least out of it. £9 for £15 hours or so seems fair to me.

Anyone have any experience with "The Swindle"? Goes off sale tomorrow before release. Reviews seem a bit all over the place.
I wrote a lot about it at the old site. I really enjoy it, one of my favourite indie games. It does a great job at gradually expanding your toolset, and before long you'll be casing joints and getting out with all the cash like a pro. The humour is what sells it to me, there's all kinds of madness that happens in the levels as the randomised builds, enemies and your tools clash. Is there anything specific you want to know about it?

I played it for a little bit on switch but never got hooked by it. The concepts were solid I just felt the execution was lacking. I have it via like six other free methods on all kinds of platforms though, otherwise I would be willing to try it out on Switch.

The idea of randomised missions all building up to the main mission was cool. I do remember there bing a countdown though

First non D3-published Otome on Switch! Not a fan of the art style at all, unfortunately.

This is from Digimerce, they have at least two more Otome games on Switch in Japan that I know of, one with fox boys (they're actually yokai. they also play in a band. what.) and one where you play as a cursed cat that has to get a hot boy to kiss her to lift the curse (called Kitty Love). Kitty Love is the newest one and actually looks best out of all those three, but all of them look pretty low effort overall.
HOWEVER, they are all voice acted (in Japanese), so that's something. Don't know any of the voice actors, but they sound good in the trailer!
If you're waiting to jump on an Otome on Switch, this one is probably not a good place to start though, I really hope they start bringing some better titles over eventually.

Straight on my "wait for a sale" wish list. And now back to waiting for some of the better titles.

Edit: To clarify, this is from the same dev as the D3 published stuff: Operahouse. Just found it interesting that there is a new publisher for this on Switch now.

I was checking today's line up and there're 2 games on sale that I'm curious about: Ghost 1.0 and Count Lucanor.
I heard good things about Lucanor, so there's a chance I'll get it. On the other hand the only thing that I know about Ghost is that the creator also made Unepic, and I found that one Ok-ish.
Can anyone who has played both (or at least Ghost 1.0) tell me if they worth it (specially now when they're 5€ each)?

Oh wow, I completely missed that one!
So there's already two Otomes by Digimerce to accompany the D3 stuff.
All of them developed either by OperaHouse or DogenzakaLab, which both work together on some of the stuff as well.

Also just saw that Gakuen Club is out on Switch already as well, wot? That one I'm actually interested in.

I need the Otomate and Broccoli stuff though.

While Venezuela probably has its own eShop in its own currency, it seems all continental America is managed by Nintendo of America, even though they are quartered in the US. I know this is true for the Mexican eShop — my family groups has a mix of consoles using the Mexican and US eShops, and everything has been entirely transparent thus far.

My family group also includes someone using a Japanese account, while online services like the NES app (and Famicom app in his case) and online play work fine, he wasn't able to use the Splatoon special offer download code, probably due to regional incompatibility.

Hope this helps.

It helps quite a bit, thanks. ^^

Is it just my eyes or does The Swindle run like ass? Tried resetting the console to see if it was one of those games, but it still seems really choppy.

Can compare it to the Vita version when I get home, but just wanted to see if others are seeing the same thing.

Downloaded Hot Springs Story. My first Kairosoft Game ever.

Dungeon did seem up my alley and Game Dev I've played other games like that.

Did I make the right choice?!

Also, they don't care for Icons! It sucks!

Not my Tweet, but look:

The text overflows to the next line, like so, including telling you to use your finger:

DpL3ddXVsAISUba

And it has Quality and Performance Mode in the Settings, showing it's a clear Mobile Port.

Well, I'm extremely disappointed by all of this. I was hoping they'd give us something updated; face-lifted; optimized.

Can anyone vouch for Putty Pals for solo play in undocked mode? It's on sale for $6 again but the emphasis on co-op makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. It also looks too cute for its own good. :P

I was checking today's line up and there're 2 games on sale that I'm curious about: Ghost 1.0 and Count Lucanor.
I heard good things about Lucanor, so there's a change I'll get it. On the other hand the only thing that I know about Ghost is that the creator also made Unepic, and I found that one Ok-ish.
Can anyone who has played both (or at least Ghost 1.0) tell me if they worth it (specially now when they're 5€ each)?

Oh, I'm glad I didn't grab Unepic yesterday! I had hopes that Ghost would go on sale (they're both from the same dev), and here we are. I still want Unepic, but I'll grab it later.

The dev has an MSX background and I'm an MSX fan, so that's basically why I'm interested in Ghost, but here's a very useful review from Switc:hWatch (great channel, by the way):

Nice, I added Ghost 1.0 to my wishlist last week when I learned it was from the UnEpic devs. Will grab.

Debating Flashback as well, but at only 10% off only...I feel I could wait for a better discount down the road.

Well, finally I received in my mailbox the screwdrivers to open the Joycons, and I was able to successfully replace my broken left stick with a new one.

The new stick works like a dream, I didn't need to calibrate anything. Tested with 'Breath of the Wild', I can walk or run depending on the pressure of the stick.

It costs me something like €3.99, plus another €3.99 of the couple of screwdrivers.

Not bad, for something like €8 I have a new working Joycon, instead of spending €49.90 in a new one.

All of that said, I can't recommend enough to completely ignore online tutorials with "tips" for cleaning the sticks, and never, under any circumstance, trying to use something different to compressed air.

And if someone needs to replace the sticks in the future, this video was super useful. If you take care of not disassembling the triggers and shoulders, it's very easy. It only took me something like 15 minutes. And believe me, I'm really bad with electronics.

I completely forgot about 7 Billion Humans so that was a nice surprise rediscovering it on the eShop today. Have only ever played World of Goo and not the other games that followed it but I'm definitely going to give this game a go- looks really neat.
