I think they are just supposed to be added to your account but it's not functioning right?Yeah, I've been PL for ages now. And I just got in, I assume you can pick them up from Athena Fortune.

Yeah, I can't find anything yet in my inventory or Athena's Fortune.I think they are just supposed to be added to your account but it's not functioning right?
Great article. They knew their games strengths are really built on them over the last year. Hopefully they continue don this path cause SoT is truly a unique game.
Great Article, thanks!
Yup, but the lack of "progression" was exactly the thing that got me hooked. I used to like multiplayer games like Tribes, Unreal Tournament, Quake, Halo 3 etc. etc. They also lack progression, but then came along COD 4:MW and changed everything. It strikes me that people tolerate exceptionally samey gameplay loops if there is 'progression' involved.
But that's how many players are. C'est la vie. SoT is all about what you put in.
Damn good points! It strikes me that people tolerate exceptionally samey gameplay loops if there is 'progression' involved.

I love the game, but I agree with your friends that the sword combat sucks. The combat in general isn't very good imo, and we could certainly use more enemy variety other than skeletons.A couple months ago I got my group of friends to buy into SoT when it was half-off. They played with me for a few sessions and seemed to love it but have since dropped all interest in the game and all but roll their eyes when I talk about how great it is. It does seem like it's not for certain people, and I'm honestly not sure what they could add that could draw those types of players in. From what I understand my friends cite a lack of true progression(meaning character progression outside of faction leveling) and a gameplay loop that's always too same-y as their distaste for it. I just don't think they appreciate the truly dynamic aspects of the game enough. Other complaints from them are "I'm tired of fighting skeletons" and "the sword combat sucks."
When they bring up those points I tend to agree with them myself. I'm so bored of skeleton combat lol. However skeleton ships and megs are still a blast to fight, but that's probably because it's ship combat.I love the game, but I agree with your friends that the sword combat sucks. The combat in general isn't very good imo, and we could certainly use more enemy variety other than skeletons.

Yeah, It's more about the journey than the reward. As cliched that might sound.100% agreed, same gaming history for me. It's why I still love Halo, for instance. The core MP experience is about... the experience. SoT too, in a very different way.
It irks me how so many seem so focused on 'progression' essentially for the sake of it. I know people are gonna like different stuff, but it feels so limiting and arbitrary.
As for combat... I definitely want more enemy types. I don't feel the combat needs a major rework as it's somehow not really something I find problematic. It's not superlative, but that feels thematically fitting in a way too. It just... works.
I feel like Sea Of Thieves is like a literal sandbox or a box of legos, where you create the "content" and other popular shooters, are like G.I. Joes or Action Men or something where the "playing" can be more constructed so to speak.I'm in the same boat (sorry) with some of my friends. They criticize the game for a lack of progression and that there's not enough things to do in general. I've been trying to keep them updated on when new things get added as they don't seem to care enough to seek out new information themselves, but all I get in return is snickering and bad jokes about how shallow the game is. It's not worth it to invest hours in the game when all they get in return is cosmetics apparently. But when all they do is play is Dota Auto Chess, CS:GO and Apex, I find it hard to take their comments seriously. But they can spare me their condescending comments when I find this game enjoyable. If that makes them feel any better, I thinks it's more a problem with their attitude than mine.
This construction on the Arches certainly is something... I'm hoping for a general hub area, or a new central BIG outpost with some side activities.
Even that would be cool just to have a central big structure, or "pirate base", and add the basic Outpost stuff on the outside on the docks, so you could drop off treasure before heading to the Arena.I was thinking the same but then I saw the NPC so I assume this will be the location for the Arena's tavern, and maybe a way to get from Adventure mode into the Arena with your crew without going back to the menus
ThisDamn, 1 year. Time has gone fast with this game, all I can say that Sea Of Thieves is without a doubt my all time favorite gaming experience, there just isn't anything like this game.
I love the game, but I agree with your friends that the sword combat sucks. The combat in general isn't very good imo, and we could certainly use more enemy variety other than skeletons.
Also thisI'll be honest. They need to rework skelly combat something fierce cause it does get extremely tiresome especially during Athena missions when they have a lot of XP but for all it's faults the game just gives you so many crazy memorable moments that it more than makes up for them. That being said i would be ecstatic if they keep working on the issues it has.
hate and cannons are in the store for 320 gold. The sword will get sent to you(I haven;t got it either.)Is there anything special you have to do to get the Golden Legendary Hat and the new Cutlass for March 20? I got all the other stuff, but I can't find the hat or the cutlass in my inventory or at a shop.

wailing barnacle?Got all of my stuff yesterday, well except the 320 gold hat, and the cutlass.
But the new 1 year pirate legend paints, sails, and figurehead are definitely my favourite ones. I'm hoping they would get a bit more creative with these thins, more colorful and filled with detail.
Like the blue set relesead on christmas last year was great, can't remember the name though.
Yeah, that one. It had the interior of the ship blue also, and added cool barnacle details on the cannons and ship.
I really hate the grind that these updates have had especially after shrouded spoils. Shit like kill 10 kraken or do 10 forts were awful in that update.
Who the fuck wants to do 5 of the exact same reaper run for 1 sail??? (Which you pay dubloons for) Doing it one time isnt tedious and dangerous enough?
Yeah, that one. It had the interior of the ship blue also, and added cool barnacle details on the cannons and ship.
In fact, it would be nice if we could add a multitude of details to our ships, like on top of the paints.
Scenario: You have a set of nice paint, and you could add a "detail" to the ship, that could be anything from chains, barnacles, moss to a light fog on deck or something. Just more customization, or added layers to it.
Yup, and also upcoming Harpoons. Mast customization would also be great. Maybe when we get the captaincy update they will address these, I wouldn't mind a chance to customize the captains quarters.Yeah there's still a few things that are out of place with Ship Customisation, such as:
- Lanterns
- Bell
- Ship Compass
I can see another update happening in future that lets you change those too. I want some freaky kraken tentacle lanterns on my ship.

I enjoyed having Bilge Rat Reputation for everything you could do. Having the Kraken commendation makes it so if you do get caught, more opt to fight instead of just sail out. Forts is just an addon to what is already the best way to level up.
Reaper run 5 times does seem long, but was able to do all 5 under 2 hours with a Galleon crew. leave 2 to dig up on the island while the others do the Riddles then come back for the final 9. Used the cave at Wanderers to hide the chests while waiting for the boat to come back. Worked everytime.
Also by being in the crew, only had to buy 1 reapers myself. Didn't have to buy all 5.
I've been entertaining the idea of taking your own screenshots and framing them around your ship. It'd be a nice addition, telling people the stories behind the paintings.Yeah captains quarters would be a good opportunity to customise it with things you've done, like hang a picture of Merrick and The Hungering One if you completed that questline etc.
i posted that idea ages ago. i envisioned it as an art easel piece of equipment that acted as a stationary photomode. the game could have built in "art" shaders to allow your pirate to watercolor, paint, or sketch the scene in front of you with frames in the ship to display your picturesI've been entertaining the idea of taking your own screenshots and framing them around your ship. Hmmm...Is that breaking NDA?!?! (Jk obviously)Joe Neate has just said on Twitter that you insiders have been playing around with pets.
You lucky swines!
If your content is so tedious that you are telling people to skip the treasure and act as if youre pirate legends (when im not) then theres an issue with how engaging it is.
Makes me wonder why they weren't featured in the trailer yesterday.Joe Neate has just said on Twitter that you insiders have been playing around with pets.

Ehhhhhhhhhhh....i assumed that crab was just part of a cinematic. so pets ARE in in the pioneer build? right now? if so, i'm jumping on tonight!
