X-Files is tepid, and 9-1-1 surprisingly did better than it

Yeah Amazing Race!
Hope it doesn't get to the cancellation danger zone again. Its up 3million viewers from its March start last year.

Definitely not great for X-Files but not terrible. I'm sure it will perform very well on other platforms though.

Legitimately surprised at 9-1-1 doing well. The commercials made it look like a parody.

Fox + FX are going to be nothing but Ryan Murphy shows.
CW nothing but Berlanti shows.

And no one will care because Netflix will make a customised show for literally every single one of their subscribers.

That's terrible for The X-Files. I guess season ten being so awful killed it for a lot of people.

Season ten was among some of the worst television that I have ever seen. Getting out rated by the new Ryan Murphy show shouldn't really be the huge surprise that it is.

And no one will care because Netflix will make a customised show for literally every single one of their subscribers.

Ha. Every show will be "something meets Lost".

Some stray thoughts on the X-Files ratings. While they were not amazing, most of Fox's entire fall lineup ended up averaging between 2-4 million per episode so at the end, depending on how the rest of the episodes fare, these ratings may end up being at least solid. I also hear X-Files is a solid performer overseas. It's also possible that a large percentage of people who may have skipped the the Chris Carter mythology lead-in episode will tune in for the next eight monster of the week episodes. With Fox's scripted shows, really anything above 3 million is considered a solid enough performer. The Gifted got renewed after reaching just 2.52 million last season. X-Files is so far double that AND will likely outperform quite a lot in other countries.

It's also worth mentioning that last year X-Files aired right after the Super Bowl giving it a massive push in ratings. X-Files didn't perform quite as well as I had hoped but definitely not a bomb either. At any rate these ten episodes are likely the last ones we will ever get unless they get actors/characters for the show.

To the surprise of no one, HBO confirmed Game of Thrones won't return until 2019.

Would be nice if Runaways was officially picked up. I enjoy watching it with the girlfriend despite a good amount of weird plotting.

Maybe they're waiting until they air the last episode to announce anything. I generally like it, even if it's not the most thrilling (or artfully written) show ever.

awesome

I just checked out Grown-ish to see what it's like and they definitely took advantage of the Freeform platform. I really didn't see it coming and t's really interesting to see how they grow the MC. I would say they succeed in taking the concept of Black-ish and applying it to growing up. The show needs more Deon Cole, but it would probably be difficult to do so with him also still on Black-ish.

Unless I misinterpreted the last scene it seems like she already has a drug addiction two episodes in.

Wait, what happened, forgot it had started again.
It started out the exact opposite of its typical "America fuck yeah" nature, the team breaks into a Middle Eastern family's house.
the entire time its from a separate perspective that doesn't show the Seal Team in light, making them look like bad guys or something.
Even the goofy Southern guy comes off as an asshole
The father of the family hears noise and goes to check it out with an AK.
One of the Seals goes to shoot him and the guys daughter came running between and accidentally gets shot
camera zooms in and reveals that it was Clay (the new recruit)
Seals are tearing the house apart looking for a phone directly connected to a terrorist attack that killed like 40 Americans.
David Boreanaz has a speach with Clay about how he "did the right thing"
Seals continue to interrogate the family as the medic works on the daughter.
A new douchebag General orders the team not to leave until they have exactly what he ordered.
show is constantly asking if that is even the right location.
Seals say they won't take the daughter to the hospital till they get the phone.
the young son knows where it is and gets it so they will take his sister to the hospital, mother claims it was her and to arrest her and take the daughter to the hospital.
The mother and others couldn't actually unlock the phone and it turns out.....
the daughter was the terrorist

They call for extraction and leave as the camera focuses on the family, tears start to run down the father's face.

tone was just so weird for this show particularly, normally that uncomfortable murky area is an interesting direction but it was very jarring here.

They wouldn't have done it, but I would have rather seen them basically be wrong but still take the girl anyway because they didn't want to seem like they picked the wrong house.

Disney will cancel everything Ryan Murphy makes except for American Horror Story and American Crime Story. OR... Disney could actually make Ryan Murphy the new Shonda Rimes (ABC is dominated with Shonda Rimes shows and more and more are added every single year but Shonda is leaving them soon for Netflix so maybe Ryan Murphy can carry the torch?). I mean Disney will own all of Fox TV studio's IPs and could decide to make them Hulu originals or put them on ABC. And they will also own FX so they could put more of his shows on there too.

I didn't have high expectations for it, but it turned out really good. It honestly felt a like the same tone as black-ish, except through the lens of a freshman.

I saw all the rave reviews for it, and really wanted to like it, but it really didn't do anything for me. I think only the mom and the assistant had any decent personality (at least up to the 4 episodes I watched). The "helper friends" just seemed incompetent and not funny.

Ive been watching SWAT (cause my parents DVR'd it), I cant believe my third favorite guy from Quantico is in this and he had a shirtless scene in tonights episode, hot.

My only problem with these shows, cause they DVR the others, are theyre all the same thing. I can only tell them apart because they have a favorite actor or so but beyond that... :(

So Grown-ish is alright. I mean it's a standard "college is hard" show right now (it's actually the second Adderall at college episode I've seen in the last year lol), but they seemed to have toned down a lot of the issues from the backdoor pilot and put out a servicable show. It's something all these family sitcoms should have considered doing when their kids were going to college. Maybe have them all go to the same school. :p
I did find it weird that Zoey only showed up for a couple of scenes in Black-ish and didn't even give her a proper goodbye... particulary when Charlie was in both episodes of Grownish being... weird.

Oh I did appreciate that they did something different with the Asian character that you don't really see a lot - the character who is ashamed of their parent's occupation. Often, Asian parents are upper middle class in professional careers so you don't this version of the relationship depicted.

Speaking of, Fresh off the Boat brought up race fetishism in a very strange way, addressing the fact that Eddie was always written to be attracted to white girls by meeting a girl who only dated Asian guys. I'm honestly not sure how to react to the episode since it doesn't really say anything, other than it's weird that a girl would keep pictures of her three Asian boyfriends in a picture frame. lol

Man Blacklist was absolutely incredible last night, probably the best midseason return I can think of.(and my favorite episode of the series)
Liz was always my least favorite part of the series but damn they really knew how to take advantage of the midseason final plot development.
basically
pFvNwXu

to everyone else in the episode.

They wouldn't have done it, but I would have rather seen them basically be wrong but still take the girl anyway because they didn't want to seem like they picked the wrong house.
I kinda agree(while technically weird for this show), then at least you have a clear message that is sadly based in some truth.
This felt like "We got 'em" but this family is now fucked up, especially the little brother who basically got his family member taken away to some black hole.

I definitely understand what they were going for, just felt weird here.
