Shitting my pants during a life or death fight sounds unfortunately realistic to me.
Load the last save.
can you turn off survival elements like hunger? i mean, it's nice but i hate that kind of stuff.
Will check later. Currently heavily invested in beer. :P
Oh damn! I haven't seen forest's at night as terrifying as that since Dragon's Dogma.
We will learn to fear the night.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Impressions Thread... [READ OP]Game looks pretty great. Do we have more impressions somewhere? I hope my 970 can handle this game at 30 fps at least.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/kingdom-come-new-trailer.20451/page-13#post-4397635Gamestar.de had some early impressions
Could be a pretty good score for the first big game of this company.
- Performance on PC seems very good - they are surprised
- Few bugs and glitches, nothing game/immersion breaking so far
- Good quests and many ways to solve them
- Very authentic and dynamic medieval world reacting to your decisions
- Mediocre story
- Starts rather slow and linear, opens up after ~10 hours
- Stunning world in terms of graphics but animations in dialogues could be better
- Game feels more like a game rather a simulation
- Score "just" between 70 - 80 because the tester does not know if the rather slow and complex/realistic gameplay is for everyone or just genre fans. Game is really good as for what it is so he is really hesitating with the score.
edit: additions from an earlier preview (8 hours played) - also paywall http://www.gamestar.de/artikel/kingdom-come-deliverance-der-schmale-grat,3322982.html
- Combat is excellent and complex
- Each weapon feels differernt
- Detailed calculation of collisions
- "No game ever has nailed sword fights like KC:D"
carnival was a mistake
CDKeys always goes up closer to release :( I learned that the hard way in the past. Was hoping the CDkeys price would go down because of the controversy... but it's going up. All this positive buzz is getting me too hyped. Might need to get it.
There is not much controversy so far, maybe if all the reviews pan the game for Vávra's views you might get fanboy backlash. Was hoping the CDkeys price would go down because of the controversy... but it's going up. All this positive buzz is getting me too hyped. Might need to get it.
Yep, looks like my Steam wallet funds are going towards this instead of FFXV or DW9. Thanks!
Yeah, I just bought it because of this. Pretty sure I've seen prices on other games go from like €28 to €40 between preorder and release.CDKeys always goes up closer to release :( I learned that the hard way in the past.
Thank you for the PC impressions. My minutes old purchase is now validated!
Its gotta be the CPU.1080p and 1440p on Pro and 1X. That's a bit disappointing, I thought it was fairly optimized on PC?
That does sound really good, thanks! You don't need to drink in the game, only eat, well, you can do both but's just one hunger fullness bar no seperate thirst. You will never have problems with thirst nor with hunger, cause it's not like in several other games where you need to eat something every 5 minutes, if you eat well, it should last for over 1 1/2 ingame days if you want to exhaust it and days are very long in the game, you will see and hear if you are hungry long before you're even close to dying, this is also great implemented, specially what happens when you desperately needs sleep. Speaking of sleeping, you can also stay awake for more than a day and both things can be extended with perks. Like I said, don't worry, this mechanics are fantastic!
And you don't need to shit in the game, lol.
You reload the last save - but saves are often very (very) far apart if you haven't been paying attention (e.g. sleeping in your own bed). So, uhm, don't do anything too risky. I'm noticing on the Mixer streams quite a few people rage quit the game when they lost a lot of progress because they thought it would auto save every few minutes and no risk like every other game. The funniest was a 14 year old kid who rage quit when he jumped off a large hill for fun, died, and then realised he had lost about an hour of his life.
And you save by sleeping in a bed or drinking a, err, saving booze (that's limited and you can get addicted to), right?
NGL, I really don't like the sound of that. Saving is something I always feel like shouldn't be restricted (much) because of story or gameplay reasons, if that makes any sense. Buut, oh well, if the game's moddable, I'm sure someone will mod it to be a bit more lenient soon enough.
Yep. I was pretty disappointed to read their latest email which was basically "we decided to skip many of the rewards for various reasons". I mean I still got the game at a discount so can't complain really, but when something is advertised and then changes pretty significantly, it's quite disappointing. No printed manual, for example, which is surely one of the reasons people would choose a physical boxed version in the first place.Stupid that the Kickstarter codes aren't active yet. Wanted to preload on Ps4. Their handling of the Kickstarter rewards has been pretty bad, in all honesty.
It's very easy to trick these systems with cloud- or USB-saves though. But you are right. Players should be able to quit when they want/need to.I think that if a game designer wants to design a save system so that you can't save scum, that's totally fair, but it should not inhibit a player's ability to stop playing whenever they like. Some sort of quick save solution where it's deleted when you load it would alleviate this. But so would auto-saving to a single slot frequently like the Souls games do.
Sure, I understand that, but I also understand that they wanted to do something against abuse of simply using quicksaves/quickload when anything dangerous is in front of you. I respect that.
Question, when you over-eat, can you then take a shit to relieve yourself? :)Sure, I understand that, but I also understand that they wanted to do something against the abuse of simply using quicksaves/quickload when anything dangerous is in front of you. I respect that.

If it sounds that up your street I'd lower your metacritic standards. Games that have been really "up my street" have been worth it even at 60-70 metacritic scores.I was thinking nothing of this game up until a few days ago, then I heard it described as basically a historical Oblivion style game, with visuals like this:
Sold. I will keep a close eye on reviews just to be cautious but if it's a solid 85+ game, I'm in.

This site is legit the only one I've seen with anything resembling a controversy.
You can make save systems that both circumvent save scumming and make you stick by your decisions, but also don't cause you to lose hours of progress. It's just not fun. There's a reason most games don't use that kind any more.Sure, I understand that, but I also understand that they wanted to do something against the abuse of simply using quicksaves/quickload when anything dangerous is in front of you. Talking about limited saves, how is Karius doing for Liverpool? You can make save systems that both circumvent save scumming and make you stick by your decisions, but also don't cause you to lose hours of progress. It's just not fun. There's a reason most games don't use that kind any more.
They are very open ended, based on the youtube videos. The writing seem's pretty good also, and the missions and quests, don't wait for the player, and can auto solve themselves.I haven't gone through the thread yet, so apologies if it's been mentioned, but any word on quest design?
