Are the people that already have 100% using Talkatoo and Hint Toad, or are they doing things blind?
I'm getting there in some kingdoms, but some have been pretty tricky.
I used Talkatoo a lot near the end, I didn't consider it cheating as I saw it similar to the text hint given to you for each star in SM64.

Yeah... For example I'm 11 moon short in the Sand Kingdom... Went to the damn parrot and he told me "Yo... Captain Toad has a moon".... Yeah no shit, I know that... I just don't know where he is! lolIt's not cheating, but it is part of the sliding scale of help factors. The SM64 analogy is pretty good in some circumstances, but also a dead-giveaway of where to go in others.

I believe purchasing all of them indirectly gets you a moon, but they don't directly cause any effects by themselves, no.So the world specific items (except costumes) like stickers are just for decoration and add nothing to the game, right?
Just completedand it's simultaneously one of the best and one of the most infuriating Mario levels of all time.Secret 2D TreasureThe first where you have to stay aligned with the 2D background and avoid the bullet bills is amazing. But the controls when you're walking around the the circular platforms towards the end? Who designed those controls? So unintuitive!
Ditto! Just remove the glowing stuff or change its color. Make it easier to know that you already got a Moon that is going to appear. Put marks over NPCs that give them to you. Red X's over ground buried ones. Change the color of the scarecrow dummy when you already did his challenge. Stuff like that.I wish you could turn the visuals and audio off for moons you've already found. That's the only thing bugging me as I clean up the remaining moons in each kingdom.
I won the Tostarena slot machine in NDC on the 3rd attempt, really glad that didn't take longer.
Yeah, I found them super easy. Just throw it when the heart is about to change.Wait, you guys had trouble with the slot machines?
I got all of them on my first try. Literally just stand right in front of each one and throw Cappy as it's about to reach the moon symbol
I actully love you. Thanks!!There are 100 coins, you can see the totals by pressing select and then Y. The last 3 for me where hanging off a ledge near the waterfall that goes over the edge near where you race Koopa and Dorie is, not saying it will be the same for you but that was the last three for me.
There were 3 in the penultimate kingdom that I still have nightmares about
I must be crazy because I had this preloaded, played maybe an hour, then bought Assassin's Creed Origins and basically didn't touch Mario since. I'm kinda excited jumping back in. Am I missing anything playing in portable mode?
This game is absolutely wonderful. Exploring all these environments and searching for the Moons is giving me major Mario 64 vibes. One quick question, though. Is it possible to get all the Moons on one level before moving on to the next? This isn't what I'm doing, but I'm just wondering if it's possible.
I finally subbed to GameXplain. Watched their "What makes Mario Odyssey so great" videos. Really good discussion.
Fuck yeah. Never thought about that moon trick! So, I've been lingering in the Seaside Kingdom, but now I feel I can finally leave:
1.) I had been stuck on 85 volleys for the second volleyball moon. Then I randomly got 434. That was a surprise.
2.) I was able to reach the Secret Path to Bubblaine moon on the Diving Platform without using the associated painting!By possessing a jet squid, taking it up the pillar where the Stone Pillar Seal was, refreshing the squid's water level using the moon there, and jetting up and forward toward the Diving Platform, there is just enough juice to reach the edge of the platform, jump out of the squid transformation, and grab the platform ledge where the moon lies.
I really love a good sequence break.
No, for two reasons:This game is absolutely wonderful. Exploring all these environments and searching for the Moons is giving me major Mario 64 vibes. One quick question, though. Can you grind the power lines in the sand kingdom? Like to go from one building to another.
Damn I got spoiled :/The recording feature captures quality gameplay moments.

If you were wondering what the next 2D Mario could do different after Mario Maker, Odyssey has your answer.
Please stop posting the final boss 3 minutes after the game comes out :)
Can someone please tell me how the hell to get a certain Art related Moon?
The freaking Top Hat Moon. I know where it is but it's not there! I have ground pounded the entire hill on that damn bridge. I have lined up the stupid hat tower with the giant moon. All the guides online have no screenshots of the exact location and just tell you to pound the ground near the railing. Fuck this shit. Someone give me a screenshot of the exact location. I GIVE UP!
