I guess most of you haven't played the Skylanders games. But they were developed by Vicarious Visions and Toys for Bob, alternatingly. Toys for Bob created the series with the first game, and Giants, and then alternated with Vicarious making Swap Force and Super Chargers, and Toys for Bob making Trap Team and Imaginators. .

In general, I got the impression that Vicarious were a much more talented team. The Skylanders games that they produced were considerably better designed, and far less heavy handed with how they communicated to the player. For instance, it feels like Trap Team stops you every 30 seconds to pan the camera or something, while Swap Force avoids taking control from the player, and is a better game as a result. Not to mention that Vicarious tended to produce Skylanders games that looked a lot better than the ones produced by Toys for Bob. The step up from Giants to Swap Force is incredible, and that was driven by Vicarious Visions. While Toys for Bob's later entries in the series do come close (like Imaginators) you still get the impression that their not as technically capable, and their games don't look quite as nice as those produced by Vicarious.

As a result, I'd be interested to see how this remake turns out. I never got the impression that Toys for Bob had a firm understanding of what made games, and particularly platformers fun (Skylanders itself, played like 3rd rate Diablo until Vicarious Visions added a jump button in Swap Force). I wonder if they will put emphasis on the correct mechanics in the remaster, I wonder if the game will feel quite right, and i wonder if their studio has the technical ability to produce a remake at the same quality as Vicarious Visions' Crash Bandicoot Trilogy.

TL:DR, as someone that has played all of the Skylanders games, the Toys for Bob logo is not a mark that I associate with quality, and it makes me nervous about this remake.

Is it really coming out this year? That's extremely worrying since that means this project started development before the Crash remaster came out and people gave their feedback on the finished product. The N. Sane Trilogy was a pretty solid effort but it had it's faults and it'd be a shame if similar problems arise here.

Love the art, nice and goofy look that I associate with a character like Spyro (maybe I'm biased, though, since this pose is similar to the pose Simba typically strikes, and, well, The Lion King, 'nuff said).

Yeah Spyro looks fine to me too.

Maybe the background should be changed but i like the Spyro design. Really wonder how the games look like.

That's insanely worrying, honestly. VV has also made so noteworthy (to an extent) games prior to Skylanders titles. Nothing outstanding, but you can tell their a fairly competent team that just rarely gets the time and resources they need thanks to Activision being a terrible publisher. TfB doesn't have any games of note outside of the Skylanders games and I'd never call those "good". They're extremely half-baked, cookie-cutter titles with few ideas and even worse implementation in most cases.

So, what games will also be scared of RDR2 and release in September?

Also, are these games good? Never really played them.

Cover looks good enough for me, will we get any trailers or something or is that it and we'll have to wait 2 months for more?

If it's real then Laura Kate Dale was not only wrong about claiming it would be announced in March, she will also be wrong about the developers. She claimed it was Vicarious Visions.

People realize that September 21th is the first day of Autumn right ?

It is likely a placeholder date for a Summer release imho.

Maybe I'm in the minority but, like Crash, it screams forced nostalgia to me cause these games were never really good to begin with.
Don't hate me, that's just my opinion

That's not how it works. That was a design decision back then, some concept designer pitched it, some people agreed. Doesn't mean this is the only design they can do lol
Still doesn't give me confidence in them! And if what Chronospherics says is true based on their experience with playing Skylanders, then they don't sound like a good set of developers.

If that were the case Nintendo has been forcing us for years. Games were good or else they wouldn't be remastering them and just make another skylanders.

I seem to be in the minority, but I'm in FULL confidence of Toys For Bob. The Skylanders series to me is very well done. So they weren't what Spyro fans wanted, that doesn't take away how good their production values and fun factor were. They were very well animated too so they have the stuff to do Spyro justice if they wanted/are told to.

I don't get the hate with the artwork personally, it looks a lot better than the Insomniac renders from the past. It captures the stylized look of the character much better than they did IMO.

But what I'm REALLY curious about are the visuals. TFB aren't known for their graphical fidelity and the visuals on their Skylanders games are a bit of step down compared to VV's work on them.

Wait, who is forcing their nostalgia?

These games sold millions of copies, both Crash and Spyro were well regarded at the time and the gameplay of the former clearly holds up today.

It's fine if you don't like them, but don't accuse others of false emotions on games they loved when they were younger and are excited to replay.

there it is, let's see how this plays out now

also it pretty cool that they used the same pose from some of the early spyro art work

I believe they are the devs who made Skylanders and gave Spyro that awful redesign.
Any of the Skylanders games are better than any of the original Spyro ps1 games. But I agree that the redesign was terrible even if I don't think the original is exactly sacred.

I think Spyro himself looks great. Backdrop could use a little spicing up, but otherwise I don't see what the fuss is about.

OK, I didn't want to "accuse" anyone, sorry.

Enjoy, guys, I'm just not the target
