By the way doing some math and looking at MC and NPD Switch numbers Nintendo should have met its Q4 target. Not exceeded it. So I expect Switch to be at 18 millions shipped in the upcoming financial report. Great first 13 months.
Yes, but GamePass downloads isn't counted in the charts I believe.
Digital hasn't been released yet. I'd imagine the majority of that would be digital.
Why would the majority be digital? Is the 20-30% digital assumption not true anymore?
+10% but February had only 4 weeks and March 5 weeksCan you give us a MoM percentage for Switch? I would REALLY love that.
NPD goes by Revenue right ? So would a digital Gamepass SOT count as 10$ revenue or 60?
Switch is still doing great, but as I've noted before it has slowed down a bit more this year than I was expecting it to
Official. The 906k for March last year is an official number or a safe guess?

Demand for PS4 at 299 is still very high. Last year they did price promotions in February but nothing in 2018 so far.
It's a play anywhere game and has a PC version. So digital is probably going to be higher and 20% is fairly low by today's standardsWhy would the majority be digital? Is the 20-30% digital assumption not true anymore?
The problem with that is that you can't assume that every gamepass sub was only used for SoT. There are other free games there too, right?
So it's kinda problematic unless MS gives them some official estimation.
Yeah it's unsurprising now given the software schedule. It'll pick back up as we go through the months that were supply constrained last year though.
Nintendo should really start caring about Q1, it definitely seems like they've been heavily ignoring it for a long time now.
Yeah. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X were a great idea to keep sales up. By the way what do you think about Gamepass? It's a complete new and different business model in the gaming market so i think we have to wait few years to judge it.Indeed. They still have price drops to use for both base and Pro.
Still a ton of life left ahead for PS4
Thanks for being the new MVP in these topics.A quick note on US console sales in March
It's unsurprising that Hardware sales volume in the US was down 30% YoY and software sales was down 18% due to a harsh comparison against March 17 when the Switch was released.
The relative sales volumes of game hardware was:
YoY
On the software side (digital not included):
PS4: ~358K
NSW: ~311K
XB1: ~302K
WOW at this month, Much better than I expected. And of course I swapped Xbox and Switch at the last second.

Yep, almost on par with PS4. PS4 after 13,5 months was at 19.9 million shipped. Plus, Switch is 100 bucks cheaper.By the way doing some math and looking at MC and NPD Switch numbers Nintendo should have met its Q4 target. Not exceeded it. Nintendo planned to ship 2.88 millions Switch in Q4.
In the Q3 report they shipped 39% of total amount of Switch shipped in "The Americas" (I presume is US+Canada, Canada is roughly 10% of the US I think)
So for The Americas in Q4 they planned to ship 1.12 millions.
The Q4 total of Switch sold in the US is roughly 860k, adding a +10% for Canada adds up to 946k Switch sold in US+Canada.
1.12 millions is roughly +18% on their sold numbers, that seems a fair number for unsold stock and stock still shipping around the globe.
Are my numbers off?

I'm not talking about unsold stock?
I'm just saying if you had asked me last year if Switch would start tracking as selling under PS4 regularly on a monthly basis I wouldn't have anticipated that
So Fortnite has to be pushing PS4 and XB1 at this point. Nearly flat MOM for both systems.
Switch also holding very well from February.
Maybe April and May won't be so dead this year?
Do you think it's because of Fortnite's boom, Nintendo's weak schedule, or both? And have you seen anything on the horizon that could reverse the course any time within the next few weeks or months?Switch is still doing great, but as I've noted before it has slowed down a bit more this year than I was expecting it to

When can we get some first impressions about GOW sales,if possible, from our insiders...?

Thanks for all your insight, Benji, as always, you're the best.
They will do a specific press release with first week world wide numbers like they did with U4.I think Sony has quarterly report by the end of this month, right? We might get some GOW numbers then as well.
Math inaccuracies aside, the numbers are good for everyone.66% drop means 34% of last year. not 44%
So
PS4: 361k
Switch: 308k
XBO: 302.5k
I expect an official price drop to $249 in summer with their days of play promo, that's also when I expect them to hit 80million mark and let loose a little.
At the very least, I think Switch is doing well enough to discredit the notion that it will somehow collapse in 2018, which is the notion I have seen thrown around the web (ERA included).
They lead hardware sales for the month at $300 to $400, they don't need the price cut yet.Sony is still crazy not doing price promotions and deals, they were much more competitive last year. They could be sellin 400K.
Problem is they feel like there is no competition, they don't feel threaten looking at their competitors software lineup. It affects the consumer negativaly because we get no price drops.Sony is still crazy not doing price promotions and deals, they were much more competitive last year. They could be sellin 400K.
First half of last year PS4 was beating Xbox One by 2 to 1. Xbox One is doing much better this year thanks to Xbox One X release and price promotions.
Xbox in a vacuum is having the most impressive performance of 2018 for me. Simply because the growth for it has been so strong.
PS4 obviously has an outstanding performance, as does Switch, but the growth Xbox is seeing compared to last year is pretty crazy.
