Oh shit, remember when Pearl flipped out in Rose's Scabbard when she found out Lion belonged to Rose. Garnet said Rose kept secrets from everyone, and Pearl replied "But not from me!"

Turns out she had a very good freaking reason to think Rose would never keep anything from her. She's the only one who knew Rose's biggest secret: that she was Pink Diamond.

But if Rose trusted Pearl with her biggest secret, then why did she keep Lion secret? Was it a way to store Bismuth? Was it to store the chest?

What's in the chest?! What's in the fucking box chest?!

It places hindsight on a lot of things pearl did now tbh, such as when she was training Connie and got freaked out when Steven wanted to fight.

There are so many disturbing implications to this.

If you think about it, what was done was kind of sick. So many lives affected and so many lives lost. Garnet was right. Pink Diamond was a coward.

Poor Pearl. Every neurotic quirk, every seemingly selfish action...it all makes sense.

Pearl is now #1 top gem, if only for everything she's had to go through.

Unbelievable.

Being a Steven Universe fan means dealing with a lot of filler and stupidity and bullshit, but when the show hits, it hits HARD.

Pink's reasoning may be at least partially selfish, but I think she was also genuinely trying to free the Gems on earth.

The real fuckup was not realizing just how much the DIamonds loved her.

Sigh.

Am i alone on not feeling the hype because this had been figured out since, like, season 2 or so?

Now that I think about it Rose telling Greg that she's not a real person just got even realer than it was before

I'd like to describe it as "filler" with hard quotation marks. It's relevant later, but that doesn't mean it doesn't feel like padding in the moment & drags the show down.
I don't agree with that at all, the vast majority of episodes build the world, develop the characters or Steven's relationship with them etc., there are very few episodes that add nothing to the show.

Also I'm still gonna call her rose since that's who she was after she was "shattered"

If pink never met Greg how would she have reacted to the red eye, and peridot trying to repair the warp, and eventually blue diamond mourning.

Maybe she would have finally revealed the truth, after 5000 years? I don't know. How much of her growth as a person came down to her meeting Greg and deciding to give birth to Steven? Or was that just another escape for her?

So she was able to hide from Sapphire's/Garnet's future vision this entire time? That is pretty impressive

Garnet's only able to see futures that she considers. That's why I'm pretty happy we got Pool Hopping so soon before this; just like how Garnet didn't see Steven's choices because she didn't expect him to act selflessly, Sapphire/Garnet couldn't see any possible Pink Diamond reveal because she firmly believed she was Rose.

Nope, these episodes didn't really do much for me either. They were informative, but so much of this revelation was padded out by Steven simply not asking enough questions. I was actually hoping Rose wouldn't end up being Pink, but whatever.

Also, there's no way that Pearl isn't connected to White Diamond in some way. Everything in this series had been so deliberate, there's no way the color and placement of her gem is a coincidence.

Rose Quartz = Pink Diamond was planned before the show even started production.

There's so much from even Season 1 that can now be seen with new eyes with this twist. Someone pointed it out on Reddit, but take a look at the first time we ever see Rose in Laser Light Cannon, the second episode of the series.

She's shattered.

The wonderful bastards had this planned all along.

other from the people who called it celebrating (?) i think the bigger draw now is the implications from such an action and how it is now viewed.

Instead of this rebellion they could feel a bit proud about now seems pretty empty.

While I like that Rose was Pink in a "things will change on a second viewing" kind of way, it does sadly remove some of the nuance the show really needed. I still need to think it through though

Oh i know this still will lead to interesting stuff, it's only that with so many people figuring it out and it being a prominent theroy for years, i long started to wish they did something different .-.

Yup. This one thing introduces a staggering amount of Drama/potential drama.

Removes? I actually think it adds a ton.

Things could have gone differently had this been 2/3 seasons ago. But now? This is exactly what the show needed,

Right. Watching the show is like two nibbles of Filet Mignon between large bowls of oatmeal.

But the Filet Mignon is so good, you keep coming back. I just hope the next episodes after these aren't townies.

DAMN!
Yeah man...when this show comes back and actually wants to go somewhere it goes HAM. lol
Like, shout out to all of you folks who stuck with that decrepit theory for YEARS. lol
I'd say fuckin' 95% fandom/audience was convinced that this was just some zombie fan theory that wouldn't die...but here we are. The crewniverse actually did a really good job convincing a lot of people that they were going in a completely different direction.

btw, Jasperedemtion is all but confirmed at this point and I'm very excited.

They should burn the Rose portrait

"At least partially" is a huuuuuge understatement! How you "help" people matters and Rose's way of "helping" bulldozed through the lives of the powerless. She fucked up way before she decided to fake suicide. And her plan wasn't just strategically stupid, it was depraved.

12 episodes later, Steven finds Lapis again.
"Are the diamonds still coming?"
"Oh don't, worry, I'm a diamond "

Lapis screams into the inky void.

Imagine how Rose felt when she truly wanted to grant all those gems and the earth freedom and her actions ended up making those gems prisoners of their own minds

Part of me's hoping for Steven to off-handedly drop this info to people that are probably better off not knowing he's a Diamond.
