You may not like the look.
But stop acting like Drake did this shoot to attack us black people.

It's a professional shoot, that was HIS idea. Swear ya'll stay scrambling for ammo

Take a break from the thread, come back when Drake responds. I think he'll address the blackface/etc. in his reply.

Exactly, I chalked it up to him being young and dumb if anything... But it's still not a cute look. It's pretty fucking embarrassing at the least.

Just don't come at me with that black vs lightskin shit, wtf. Don't put that one me, I don't fuck with that at all. What petty Stan ass defense honestly.

The community needs to learn how criticize our public figures. I get it, we get targeted from all angles so we get protective, but we need to call out the shitty stuff that's going on and stop downplaying and handwaving
Yeah, I chalked it up to him being young and dumb as well and doing something "edgy" without realizing the full weight of it's history. Black people creating and wearing a Jim crow clothing line is subversive enough. Drake becoming Jim Crow to sell these T-shirts completely misses the point and literally reinforces the very thing I assume they were trying to subvert.

I admire your dedication, seriously. But ya boy is in trouble. You're fighting a losing battle. Blackface, telling chicks to get abortions because his dumbass was smashing without a condom, making it personal for no reason, etc. He's a joke, fuck all that lightskin shit.

Scrambling? lol

It was a bad idea to do it. He should've never put on blackface. I don't give a shit who you are, putting on blackface is a bad idea.

The fact that it was his idea makes it worse not better.

I honestly don't care about the context to the blackface photoshoot. I'm sure there's a perfectly valid reason behind it and everything but I just think it was the perfect cover to drop alongside a diss track that poked at Drakes insecurity regarding his blackness.

Yet, Drake will still have the best album opening of the year and will control the summer climate.

This will hardly put a dent on his superstardom, no matter how much y'all pretend it will.

Yea this is where I'm at. Context or not, the precision it took to drop it when he did and how he did was masterful. He knows context will come and he knows it won't matter.

This is the only thing that should've been left out and if Drake replies he's going to go after Pusha hard for that part.
Nah he can't do that. He went at cudi for having mental illness.
Matter fact for all you he went too far ppl did OVO 40 say drake went too far when he was dissin cudi illness? He has social media... did he claim it was wrong?? Or did he keep it moving like it was cool. If he said something then ok y'all have a point. If not then that means he condones it so he is open to attack about his illness. Fuck it.

I get this. I understand this. I grew up in BedStuy.

But hip hop definitely became a "if you never sold drugs or killed someone you ain't hard or cool" exclusive club for a while which subverts what you are trying to say.

Heck in your reply you've already clowned Drake for growing up in Canada and not having a hard life.

Ex gf loved 50 cent back in the day cuz he got shot 9 times and survived. Thought her Ex bf was cool cause he got shot once. Misfortune and hardship became some kinda rite of passage in hip hop.

Glad people like Ye helped to buck this trend but it still permeates hip hop.

Sorry buddy but hip hop and rap culture is as broad as an ocean and always has been. Conscious rap, spoken words and African beats are old aspects of the culture. Gangster rap is a subset of rap. The thing that yourey talking about is the fact that people respect real. Whatever your truth is be real to that. That's why people look sideways at Drake, not because he's not street. That's a short handed over simplification.

After let the song rest a bit...

I feel Pusha's track isn't better than Drake in how it sticks. It was savage af tho and it will hit Drake hard. The line about 40 and mocking MS was low blow not for him but for everyone suffering that disease.

Overall. Pusha has an edge on Drake and I'm expecting another response, and another one, and another one all summer long. I want to see where this goes.

I gotta say, aside from this beef, I'm enjoying watching folks audition for Drake's PR team and reveal that they know shit all about rap at the same time.

It's highly entertaining.

In terms of a pure music level, I thought Drake's was better. The wordplay with the Ye song titles, the general flow and cohesive message. It just was polished, along with the invoice on Instagram.

Pusha's on the other hand was just straight bombs. It felt like more just spitting dirt reading off a page than anything creatively interesting.

Interested to see where this goes.

I know, but the track was perfectly fine without it. Still, I won't make a big deal, Drake is ultimately the one to blame for going personal first.

Not really sure what that has to do with this beef.
That has everything to do with the beef.

If you can't damage his brand despite stooping so low while unearthing every dirt you have of Drake, you didn't do shit.

Drake will be the artist of the year in every commercial metric unless Adele stealth releases. If this doesn't do a number on Drake, nothing else will--rendering his commercial success untouchable.

And let's be real, this will only expand his reach among the reluctant whites.

See y'all when his album drops.

We've been known about his relationships...
Drake has been talking about the mother of his (maybe) child since last year on More Life.
Articles & blogs were written about this.
But all of a sudden this is news?...When Pusha says it, it's all of a sudden news?
ok

Eh, Cudi started talking shit first... he stepped into the ring and caught shots.

40 didn't even comment on Push calling him out, why's he gonna comment on Drake calling Cudi out? lol. He's kept his head low his entire career and just worked.

You underestimate how much Drake cares about his "street" cred

Which will surely take a hit just like it did with the Meek beef

You need to think about what you are doing In life right now. Like, really think about how adamantly you're defending this guy.

Wait a second...
