Yeah I don't understand how "no battling wild pokemon omg" is such a controversy. They'll likely balance out the exp stuff by adding more trainer battles. It's not like you won't be able to level up your Mons as fast or something. Just shifting focus on how and where you battle is all. Also, it's more akin to the anime now.

Can't wait for this.

They could also add new trainers or reset them or hold events for fights and so on. I'm sure there will be plenty of fight to be had.

I can't see how instead of your Pokemon helping you catch being replaced by a waggle QTE is controversial either.

I was just thinking about the Mewtwo encounter they showed off in the trailer. I hope you at least get to battle and weaken him before catching him. Throwing pokeballs at him until he's caught would be pretty dissapointing, and slightly hilarious!

Until you can give me a direct quote of Masuda or that other guy stating otherwise, you have no proof of that.
Your quote doesn't exist, the transcript just says they won't be using the Nintendo Switch Online paid service.
Someone also asked if you can do local trades and battles and Masuda said yes, he never said you couldn't do it online. These things got messed up by poor translation and spread the misinformation.

Random encounters and the battle system are two different things. You can dislike one and like the other.
Wild Pokemon battles =/= random encounters. You can still have the Pokemon appear on the map like they do in this but have it trigger a battle when you touch one instead of a catching mini game.

Yes I think wild battles are important. I made this post earlier:

I also think wild battles are important to themed areas. For example in the haunted tower of Lavender Town, the ghost pokemon and the trainers will fight you. The wild pokemon make the area feel properly haunted and they try to beat your mons up. In Let's Go, will you just fight trainers while the haunters and ghastlys loiter around the area?

For me personally, I still think it's more fun capturing the Pokemon than weakening/battling it first. Besides, in the original game you can just run from the ghosties without them beating up your mons. Yeah there's a chance you cant escape and they can attack blah blah blah, but that's what repels repels are for.

Yeah and no one is saying they should remove the battle system, just happy random encounters are gone. I sure am, cause I dislike them. Now I'll wait and see how they make up for that balance wise.

Okay, that's what I was saying. I wasn't saying there was none at all (though that was my assumption), I was saying they never confirmed it.

But I saw other people (I think you too, not sure) assuming that means online battles and trades are free and not based on the Switch Service, and nothing suggests or supports this.

The fact that people can't realize that this game gives you something to do with those Mon you caught in GO is sad.

The fact that people can't realize this game is a full inspired Yellow remake with simplified mechanics for a wider market is sad.

The fact that people can't realize that the internet raged over the USUM announcement, expected a Pokemon game this year, and are actually surprised they chose to do a smaller scope game to hit this year and push the core game next year is sad.

The fact that people aren't even open to a different direction for one of the 'stalest' franchises around is sad.

Let's Go wasn't my exact vision of what I wanted on Switch, but that's coming next year. I have no issue with a new way to play Pokemon, and I wasn't even into GO. Now I have a reason to try it again.

Will you be able to trade and battle with other players in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! via local wireless connection?

Mr. Masuda: These games will definitely have the wireless trading and battle features that have existed in Pokémon games up to now. You will, of course, need two Nintendo Switch consoles to do that kind of gameplay

And later in the interview

Nintendo has recently announced that the company will begin its online gaming service this September. Will Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! use this service?

Mr. Ishihara: We don't have any plans to use this online service right now

That's all the official word we gave for right now

I really don't think we can assume either way as the official Q&A on the Pokemon site didn't mention it and online trading/battling is not listed anywhere in the games features nor was it shown in the trailer, and that's obviously something they should want to promote.

It looks like you can now fly directly over the overworld. That's exactly what I've always wanted.

Yeah but not that much for younger audiences and new players from the "ipad generation".

We ourselves were introduced with earlier games, like Red, where there were no held items, abilities, etc. They can remove that from main games, the fans would riot, that's why let's go exists.

Younger audiences would rather continue playing GO than buying a Switch for a game they have on their phone for free. If those already have a Switch then i'm sure they're comfortable to a core Pokemon becuase held items, abilities etc are not required to understand and finish the games and enjoy them and the Rock–paper–scissors element.

There is no breeding center in Yellow.

Plus breeding would bring baby Pokemon like Pichu and Elekid and this is 151 only
That's not official confirmation. They could have easily added the ability to breed Pokémon to the existing Pokémon Day Care on Route 5, or there could be some kind of post-game Day Care like the Four Island one in the Sevii Islands of FireRed/LeafGreen.

There is no mention of no ranked battles or no breeding in the official Q&A transcript that was released, so where are those reports coming from?
https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/pokemon-creators-share-more-details/

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but it's hard to keep up with this thread.
Both IGN and GameSpot say that he said both, presumably the transcript released isn't the whole Q&A.

What I wanted: A more complex catching mechanic like in SMT, DQM or even Yokai Watch.

What I got: Extremely simplified mechanic taken from a fucking mobile game.

The game is more expensive than the other Pokémon games (50% more expensive), and has less content than the older remakes and it's replacing battles with a minigame/QTE.

Trust me, I'm sad too.

Confirmed Info

Check Sources at bottom if you're gonna ask where's the source

General
-Inspired by Pokemon Yellow
-Setting sees players returning to Kanto Region
-Pokemon Go is not required
-Transfer Pokemon from Go into Let's Go (one way xfer). Early info indicates Pokemon moved from Go to Let's Go will appear in the Go Park where players must capture them again in Let's Go P/E.
-Version differences: In addition to determining your first partner Pokémon, there will be some differences in the species of Pokémon that you encounter and the rate at which you encounter them based on whether you choose Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!
-Follow Pokemon return
-Local Coop By sharing one of the Joy-Con controllers with a partner, two players can adventure at the same time. Throw Poké Balls together when you encounter Pokémon to boost your chances of successfully catching them, or have a friend lend a hand by joining you in battles against Trainers in your game.
-Your starter Pikachu or Eevee cannot evolve in the Let's Go games.
-Masuda confirmed that first 150 Pokemon as well as their Alolan forms from Sun and Moon
-There is no Pokemon breeding (and therefore no eggs) in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee.
-Masuda confirmed that you will be able to trade Pokemon between the Let's Go games.
-You can connect with other people in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee via both local wireless and Wi-Fi, Masuda confirmed. Though you can battle online, there are no ranked battles in the Let's Go games.
-Customization options shown in trailer for dressing Pikachu/Eevee

Pokeball Plus
-Pokeball shaped Joycon
-Control stick and button on top, LED lights around middle, vibration function
-Compatible only with Pokemon Go and LGPE
-3 hr battery life
-$40-45
-Can be used as a Pokemon Go Pro accessory

Wild Pokemon Encounters
-No wild pokemon battles
-Wild Pokemon appear in overworld, walk up to them to initiate catch sequence
-Use of Go Capture Mechanics
-Masuda did mention during our Q&A session that the Let's Go games are like any other main Pokemon RPGs in that they're both "accessible" but with "depth" for those who want it
-Trailer Shows Wild Pokemon with Level(from old games) and CP(from Pokemon Go)
dM83zQ2.png

Trainer Battles
-Seems to retain older RPG battle system
-XP gain from catching Pokemon and defeating trainers, though Masuda said the leveling system hasn't been finalized yet
-Trailer shows only level not CP in trainer battles

If i can still choose the starter, what's the difference between LGP and LGE?
From what we know, there's something "special" about the Starter Pokemon this time. Aside from that, the Pokemon you find in the wild will vary slightly between each version, as is tradition.
But what Eevee can be found in the wild? I wonder where they will be now. Or if they expect you to breed them with the Eevee you have.
I'm guessing there will be wild Eevee somewhere.

You literally posted the exact quotes I mentioned that translators fucked up.... Gaming sites have more information than what is in this, so either the whole Q&A isn't here, or they got a little more information.
