Funny thing! The Power Fighters version actually has a Vs. Mode. It even has it so you can "block" by using Parries (re: Pressing foward to stop attacks in nick of time). An interesting curiousity, to be sure. Still boggles my mind that this particular collection never popped up anywhere else...
Can u do that in the arcade ver too?

I don't know why but i feel like Monster Hunter World will be a big hit. There's a lot of positivity around this game and seems like a lot of people are really hyped about a big MH on the current consoles and PC.

The game looks great and i can't wait to play it.

I hope you're right. I think Capcom is investing a ton amount of money on this project and with the help of Sony it should be the door for MH inside the general Western public, and the most important thing, it actually looks amazing. I'll probably get on PS4 and PC, just to support it and try the series for the first time.

I know this sounds dumb but this game looks so high budget that it doesn't even look like a current Capcom product lol. I hope it performs well and we can get more projects like this in the future.

MT framework still doing work.

I think that those power fighters ports are the same thing we got in the Mega Man Anniversary collection.

I'm guessing due to the low budget, it would recover its cost in time.

Though on PC
http://steamspy.com/app/493840
It has around 30K owners (give or take 5K). I wonder how many of them got the game via CDKeys where it is dirt cheap over there, even though it is an EU key/version.

Wonder if, in total it shipped 100K units by now. I'd say sales of it would pick once the S1 DLC+Game go for cheap, since the dlc characters are more sought after than the base roster.
Definitely curious on that. It charted on NPD which I didn't think it would.

I still really love the Chaos Legion title screen:

Chaos Legion in general has an S-Tier OST. i listen to it regularly.
the game though? i completely mastered it back when but i do wonder how well it holds up.

Also to this day I still want Seig in a Capcom fighter but all that annoying based on a novel thing probably gets in the way a bit.

Woah hold up, you mean aside from the protag being designed after Gackt, the game is based on a novel? What novel is that?

Quoting myself from the RE thread, here's the main results from Capcom's sales from 2017 and yada yada...

Capcom's Financial Results for the second quarter of 2017 is up, here's the results:

TZCBk.png

The Platinum hit's sales were updated as well. RE7 now sits on the 8th position with the amount of 4.1M copies shipped worldwide:

I don't think it sounds dumb. World does look like it has a much higher budget than other recent Capcom games.

Thanks for the thread, Jaw!

I love classic Capcom, they're far and away my favorite publisher. That being said, they do frustrate me a bit, hear me out... Several other publishers take advantage of their classic catalogs, whether it's Nintendo via Virtual Console (not counting the Switch -- not sure what's going on there), Sega with all sorts of releases across platforms, and SNK who seemingly release their back catalog every console generation. Also being a fan of those other companies, I buy some of these classics, and thoroughly enjoy them. But I love no other catalog as I do Capcom's CPS-2 library. I probably enjoy every single CPS-2 game.

So, why not make an effort to release the games on a current gen console and/or PC? It is just too much of a technical challenge? A perceived lack of demand (and therefore, not an expected return on investment)? Lack of funds? Personnel?

I understand that some of the games might be stuck behind licensing issues -- obviously, the Marvel games come to mind, and the Dungeons and Dragons games might be in the same boat. But what about the rest of the games? In particular, what about Super Turbo, a game for which people have been clamoring for, for a long time now? You've got people doing all sorts of crazy things to get a good version of Super Turbo -- including building CPS-2 "super-guns." (essentially, consolized CPS-2's). But instead of giving an awesome arcade perfect (or close to it) port, they keep doing things nobody asked for. Nobody asked for HD Remix. Nobody asked for Ultra SF2. (Well, "nobody" might be my hyperbole talking out of frustration, but you get the point...).

As for the technical challenge, I'm not so sure that's a valid argument. They were able to bring in Vampire Hunter/Savior last gen, and those are CPS-2 games. They also brought Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom (1). They've done Dungeons and Dragons re-releases (although for some bizarre reason, only the PS3 Japanese version was done by Capcom themselves, I believe the other worldwide releases were done by other people).

In any case, I still have all of these older consoles I can plug in to enjoy all the amazing Capcom releases. But for this discussion, if anyone has any insight into Capcom's development priorities/schedules/goals when it comes to classic releases, it will be very welcome! Thanks :-)

That's a good point. They have a lot of older catalog titles that would really benefit from rereleases.
I'll see about asking around. Doubt i'll get any answers but you never know.

InfiniteCombo- Come on brosif, you can't put down the CPS-1 library like that!
CPS1 had Rockman Power Battle, that game has so much amazing color usage and animations.
Plus it had King of Dragons and its awesome soundtrack

Not CPS2, but if you still have a last-gen console hooked up, the M2 developed Capcom Arcade Cabinet is one of the best retro arcade compilations ever IMHO. Its on sale pretty often too. It inexplicably has a 69% on metacritic, but it's really fantastic.

I'd love to see Capcom try and ride the S/NES Classic train and release a CPS2 plug and play console. Even better if it's FPGA instead of emulation, but that's just me dreaming.

Yo Tizoc, chill bro :-P Just because I didn't mention CPS-1, doesn't mean I don't have love for it. Come on man, it's the arcade system that gave us the likes of U.N. Squadron (I have a way softer spot than I should for this game), Strider, Captain Commando, and of course, Final motherf'in Fight, one of my favorite games ever. Depending on the day and how crazy I'm feeling, I might also tell you that Hyper Fighting (a CPS-1 game) is secretly the best iteration of Street Fighter II. In some ways, I'm also partial to the CPS-1 Street Fighters, because my homeboy Guile is pretty good in all of them. And I love me some Guile.

Whoa, this is an awesome post. I had indeed heard of the Capcom Arcade Cabinet, but hadn't gotten around to it. Based on your recommendation, I'll check it out for sure! And wasn't M2 the same crew that did all of those Sega classics on 3DS? Those are awesome! so that gives me high hopes for this emulation set. My only ever-so-slight hesitation is that, that collection, if it's anything like Capcom Classics Collection on the PS2, sounds like it has atrocities like SonSon and Section Z, which I'm not a fan of at all. Even as a hardcore Capcom fan, I'm generally skeptical of a lot of their releases prior to, say, 1986. Rough times.

"CPS2 plug and play console" -- now why you gotto go play with my feelings like that, man. Jesus! :-P

Well, I actually think Sonson is pretty fun so maybe you shouldn't take my recommendation to heart :)

There's none of the super deep arcade releases that Capcom later became associated with, but for how early some of these games were, there's a ton of polish and tightness that most games of the era didn't reach. I think I played Black Tiger for the first time on this release and was pretty blown away.

On the topic of a CPS2 home console, Capcom did actually release one in the 90s...

2kc6aDy.jpg

The CPS Changer. They were extremely limited and only available by mail order in Japan AFAIK.

Nah man, now this means I should give SonSon another try, it's been a long time since I played it last (back when I owned a copy of Capcom Generation 3 for the Saturn.)

I thought the CPS Changer was a CPS-1 home console? Even the release of Street Fighter Zero (a CPS-2 game) had to be down-ported for the CPS Changer, and even then it had several issues. At least that's what I remember...

Also, what's the best source for general Capcom news? Is it Capcom-Unity? Are there any others?

Capcom unity really only posts news that is marketing related (New DLC coming out, something on sale!).
I personally don't know of any all-in-one capcom resource. It's kinda why I made the thread. So we could post more of that sort of thing in here.
Since not all of it is thread worthy but is interesting to see within the community.

-Please talk about Dino Crisis so your boy can eat here once in awhile.

Gladly. Dino Crisis remains one of my all time favorite PS1 games; Regina is still loved the world over, and your avatar is fucking adorable. HD remake when?

In loving memory of Mega Man.

I said gyat---dayyyyyyummm.

I'd rather play the game advertised in the promo art than an actual DS game honestly. Lookin' like some ol busted ass late 1980's/early 1990's comic book ad for the latest Dungeons and Dragons sub-game, with Anita hopping a train straight out of "Eye Of The Beholder".

Throwing my talons into the ring for a Cyberbots sequel that will never happen in this timeline, ca-caw.

Anyways, subscribed.

Tech Romancer was kind of sort of a cyberbots sequel.

I suppose one can look at it that way, I mean Jin was a secret character after all. Chōkō Senki! KIKAIOH!!

But I'm more interested in an actual sequel set in the world that the characters of Cyberbots inhabited; a war torn universe, with planetary scaled disasters, scientific experiments gone amok, colonies in space, not to mention alien and demonic influence on society as a whole. Kinu Nishimura's classic artwork had a real effect on me, honestly... her style just transports you to another world.

Could be a shared universe with Captain Commando, which in itself is a continuation of the Final Fight series, right?

That's basically any PS4 game when you set your home PS4 as the other and have your set for online access only.
So yeah you could do that with MHW.
Cool...

Tks for the reply. I've been trying to get into my SP games but it seems like all I want to do is play multiplayer stuff.

GTS
Destiny 2
SFV
MHW

Feels like I'll be playing these for rest of the gen lol

Puzzle Fighter mobile makes me want a pure Capcom Vs game. Pull assets from TvC, MvC3 and MvCi and build something crazy. Maybe SF4, SFXT and SFV assets can be tweaked to fit the proportions and aesthetic too.

I agree with the principle of a pure Capcom Vs game, but not with this art direction.

They've already tried doing the very thing you asked for in Capcom Fighting Jam, and that game is terribad. The gameplay is not the most terrible thing in the world (I mean, it is Capcom after all, even their shittiest fighting games can be enjoyable to some extent), but the art direction is.... I don't know, it's so bad I have no words for it.

I'm not specifying an art style. Ideally, I want it to be cel-shaded.

I was only referencing Puzzle Fighter because the "meh-ness" of it makes me want a legit Capcom fighter.
