Take it with a mountain of Salt, but there's a ton of buzz around Twitter about something happening with the Suns. Mostly local radio guy types.

Also what is Lakers fans' beef with Woj all of the sudden?

I have this feeling that something will break today.

He's directly getting information from the Spurs and trying to gain leverage to make the Lakers panic and overpay.

yeah it feels like woj is just trying to put artificial pressure on the lakers

what do the spurs get for kawhi at the trade deadline? less than they would get now. what do they get at the end of the season? nothing

does it seem like the relationship with kawhi and the spurs can be repaired? nope

If the suns rumour is true, I wonder if we've found someone to take Deng for picks.

the spurs can still play the long game with kawhi, sure

it'd just be stupid as hell

Playing the long game really hurts all parties involves (Kawhi, Lakers and Spurs) you would think. But the thing is - the Spurs are the ones that actually have him under contract and on his roster. And they also have the leverage of $80M. They're in a better position to wait it out than the other interested parties.

He's directly getting information from the Spurs and trying to gain leverage to make the Lakers panic and overpay.

Ehh - I'll trust Woj's reporting instead of believing some vendetta or bias. He gets information from a ton of sources. If he was know to try to leverage one team against another, he wouldn't get it for long.

Boston and more specifically Danny Ainge really going to give up the assets it would take to get a Kawhi deal done knowing he's a FA after this season and has made it clear he wants to go to LA....?

Doesn't sound like him at all....

I didn't, and still don't, believe the rumour that he offered four 1sts for Justice Winslow but literally everyone speaks of it as it was a real thing.

If he's willing to throw that many 1sts for Winslow, just imagine what he'd throw at Kawhi. I don't believe it but if the Celtics throw any degree of really valuable assets at him, I might start believing that insane trade offer. Kawhi has had quad issues since high school from memory, he's an amazing player but there's definitely a lot of risk in such a trade.

I don't agree with this. the clock is ticking for the spurs. if this drags into the regular season they're not going to get as much as they would get right now and if it goes the whole season he walks for nothing.

I advised Magic to not do the trade unless we offset Deng

And since that won't happen the young ones are in the clear

Wild speculation during the NBA off-season is second to none. The shit I'm reading on twitterville is ridiculous. But I love it.

ya'll are always afraid he is gonna get fleeced or something.

Like, if he trades for Kawhi, that means that not only the dud is healthy, but is signing long term.

If he makes the move I'll trust that it's probably the right one but as of now I don't think it's worth it. I just don't think they'll have a sustainable team given how expensive everyone will be.

I have a feeling the C's are just being used as leverage to get more out of the Lakers or Sixers.

Which is why I said it hurts all parties involved. Yes, that's a bad outcome. But the Lakers wouldn't be able to sign him if their offseason goes to plan this offseason, so that's a bad outcome for both of them. Kawhi stands to lose a ton of money ($80M or more), even more if he puts up a stink about reporting or playing. I know he's communicated that's not the big thing for him, but saying and following through are different things.

Why wouldn't the Spurs want Woj to say something like "Celtics are packaging key assets in an effort to land Kawhi" if he was their mouthpiece. This doesn't make any sense.

Get LeBron to rest for a year, sign Kawhi for free next summer and trade for Anthony Davis.

do it magic!

In the long run Lakers don't really need to give up anyone for Kawhi because once his contract is over, he's basically telling everyone he's going to L.A.. It's just a matter of how long Lakers can wait.

Run it back through the tight end
Get the sack, move in silence

FZZ it's time to let go. Let go of Hart, kuzma , Ingram. This is the circle of life. Mufasa talked about it.

There's zero chance Tatum is even on the table in any Kawhi trade. If Spurs/Boston are having discussions I'd imagine they revolve around Kyrie and/or Brown.

I'm officially on the don't trade all the young guys for Kawhi train now. Maybe because I hate his dad, but I can give up Ball. And whatever picks. And I can stomach giving up Hart who I really like. But BI AND Kuz? No. I really like BI.

Philly is the wild card, because I don't see Boston getting a commitment from Kawhi so I don't think they will offer a whole lot. And honestly if I'm a Boston fan I want to see what that team is healthy. But Philly could say screw it and trade Fultz and Saric and feel okay since they have their two superstar building blocks.

But the reports that the Lakers offering everything essentially for Kawhi not being enough sounds super suspicious. Guys who want out and want to play somewhere specific just do not have the trade value people think they do. It's like some people think the Spurs should be trying to get as close to equal value for Kawhi as they can when that's just not how this scenario plays out 9/10.

He's fine. He just didn't want to play for San Antonio because he felt disrespected. I bet he suits up for at least 80 games for the Lakers this season

That'd be a very bad bet. He's never played more than 74 in a season, though part of that is being on the spurs.

Kawhi's injury history is a real thing, though. Doesn't mean he can't overcome it, but there's more there than you might think.
