It could also be someone else from NJPW. Maybe someone in the midcard.

It is kinda hard to find someone better than PAC in the indies. A lot of people say Moxley, but he is not a better wrestler. More known and a better promo yes, but wrestling wise he is bellow PAC and, according to Melzer, it is someone better than PAC.
A tough get but Ishii would be a fantastic fit for it tbh.

I was corrected earlier

AEW themselves presented it as a "better match" to Meltzer. Not his own words.

Okada has enough pull that he could ask for things like this. Besides, Jericho is facing him at Dominion and Omega is probably going to be in the G1. They could even do some type of angle where Okada attacks Jericho after the match with Omega.
Okada doesn't have enough pull to work a rival promotion show that has literally stolen talent from you. While are and Njpw will probably have a working relationship in the neir future is not right now. And I doubt Kenny will do the g1

Christ.

Could you imagine going from a potential great match with Pac vs Hangman

TO A POTENTIAL MATCH OF THE YEAR CONTENDER WITH HANG MAN VS INVISIBLE MAN

If it is a better match, then Moxley does not fit. It could be someone from DDT, AAA or another Japanese promotion like AJPW or a freelancer like Suzuki.

We will see. I do not think we are going to see a joint show between AEW and NJPW in a long time, but small talent "exchanges" could become a thing. Specially with the shit RoH pulls that probably make NJPW office forget they are mad with AEW.

Talent exchange may happen down the line but definitely not yet. New Japan are sticking with ROH for the time being.

Also I definitely think it needs reminding that New Japan were not happy with the way Omega and Trent Barretta left the company.

Dave's not bought off by AEW, duh, but you'd have to be blind not to notice he's biased for them. Same for me, I'm biased as hell to see AEW succeed. Do they deserve shit for the PAC situation? Yeah, just WWE would if something like this happened there.

Just today he typed at least twenty tweets and replies justifying why AEW chose to do this, how it's not like WCW or WWE at all, and why they were right to air the match for free. That's not journalism, that's passive aggressive damage control. Which he's been doing for months. And I find that questionable as all Hell. Because that shouldn't be his job. His job shouldn't be stanning for AEW constantly and spouting proper shit like them being the number two company in America before they've signed a TV deal officially....
"Damage control." "Stanning." What? He says multiple times that it's fine to criticise them for the decision and makes it clear he doesn't know if the replacement match will live up to the promises of whoever talked to him. What he's doing is rationalising their decision and then explaining that logic that led to it to a bunch of clueless internet geeks who in typical Twitter/internet fashion, are treating it like it's the end of the world. He does the same shit for every promotion, especially WWE, even when they do things that don't make sense (eg, he thought WWE deliberately tried to make Becky the face when she turned on Charlotte last year when in reality WWE were just stupid). The only reason this is different is because you're only paying attention to the stuff he says about AEW.

He's bent over backwards to justify WWE's decisions all the freaking time. Listen to Monday Wrestling Observer Radio shows, he argues with Bryan Alvarez CONSTANTLY with Bryan criticizing EVERYTHING WWE does and Dave always tries to give WWE's side on why they do something. He always tries to give the wrestling companies side on why they do something, that does not make him biased... But now all of a sudden because it's AEW (and the people behind AEW) that he's doing something he's always done, people wanna call him biased.
Exactly.

Bummed about the PAC news, I was really looking forward to that match. If it's not about the outcome in his match with Page and more about AEW worrying this would book themselves into a corner regarding future matches, they could just... hold off on those future matches? I don't get it.

I keep reading about Omega being in the G1 this year but nobody ever explains why they expect this to happen.

Didn't Omega say that he didn't feel NJPW appreciated him as much as other promotions? I think he also said something about NJPW being his worst option when his contract was up, and that the New Japan style and schedule got to be too much for him.

Add all that onto the rumor that NJPW wasn't happy about the way he left, and I'm just not sure why anyone is expecting to see him back any time soon. I know he has something in his current contract about going back but there seems to be a lot of headwinds against that happening. Happy to be proven wrong though.

What an unfortunate situation for their first match.

Sounds like the best booking way to handle this. Page was going to lose, but no point in that happening if PAC isn't going to be able to be booked to lose after that, has an interesting angle and if AEW paid for the match, there doesn't appear to be any bad blood. With the post match promo PAC cut, gives him an interesting angle for a return down the line.

I'm bummed because PAC is one of my favorite guys, but I will love it if he shows up one week on the TV show out of nowhere and maims someone.

I am not a big PAC fan or anything, but this definitely does make me more hyped for his return match with Page when/if it happens.

So big Dave is mentioning that the "creative differences" are not PAC not wanted to lose. The plans always have been PAC to beat Page, but they dont want PAC to beat Omega (that would be the natural course with "win lose matters" politics) so that's why they cancelled the angle.

That makes more sense.

If this is it, then in makes no sense that they did not have PAC beat Page at DoN and cut a promo saying there is nothing worth fighting here. Then, have him return once he dropped the DG Belt.

It's less than 5 days away. I got my tickets ready. Driving to Vegas Friday afternoon. I'm taking my girlfriend to Double or Nothing. It will be her first time being at a live wrestling show. We are both excited. Can't wait.

I really hope that was a dig at Michael Elgin and they're not planning on using him. Luchasaurus is a better guy anyway.

"For the AEW weekly show in the UK, you'll have to ask the fine folks at ITV. *wink* *wink* *wink*. Can you tell I'm winking?"

OK, so that's confirmed then

Okay, I'm hyped for what they're showing tomorrow after the end of BTE. That was very well done.

If you two like beer, I recommend Ellis Island on Koval, about a mile north of the mgm parking structure.

One of my favorite places in LV. They brew their own beer on site and they're only $2.5. 4 food options inside as well.

Finished BTE. Page is a fucking horse! Also I'm shocked my jaded heart actually felt something when they gave Bran the contract instead of immediately being cynical and bitching about nepotism or something.
