Unfortunately it's rarely as simple as waving a reform wand with good intentions and expecting results. California, a state that leads the nation in prison reforms and programs, has one of the most segregated, gang run and violent systems in the country. It's not just the guards that you need to really worry about, who will make your life hell but are hopelessly outnumbered by the inmates who maintain order through violence. When isolated shot callers and lifers in Pelican Bay had their torturous conditions exposed and were reassigned, many just resumed their previous work, resulting in more dead inmates and CO's. What do they care, they're in for life anyway. It's a complex problem for an environment that does not function like the outside world.I believe they are being treated like shit. I don't believe it is because they are a bunch of MAGA insurrectionist. Nope, this is just the tough on crime bullshit they have most likely supported all their lives coming down on them like a ton of bricks. Maybe, you know, reforming the correctional system isn't just a liberal plot to let criminals roam the streets doing whatever they please.
"I hate your honky religion? " , so there's a geriatric security guard that's been employed since the 50's still doing security?
LMAO damn! So the capitol rioter might not be lying ! Hahahha how many 80+ year old Black cops are there in the country? He's a cop. He's 91. And he has no plans to retire
Where do you see yourself at the age of 91? Working, with no plans to retire, may not be the first thing that comes to mind.www.cnn.com
A sad story we see repeated endlessly by atheist professors, Christmas-hating Starbucks baristas, and radically homosexual Lil Nas X fans across the nation.Sandlin later added that the guard mentioned something about "being glad to cancel all Christian culture", "Jesus is lame", and "This is for Hillary Rodham Clinton" right before another knee to the gut.
It was worth a try, but the fact is, our people's plight will never be taken seriously in Biden's America. It's yet another example of the toxic double standard we face in our battle to save the last vestiges of white culture.Everyone, please say h-word, that particular word is extremely hurtful in my culture /s
Taking away the fact that these people are insurrectionists who tried to obstruct a democratic process, it's kind of gross that people in this thread are gleefully cheering on officers abusing people. I understand not feeling sorry for white supremacists, but we cannot ignore the fact that abuse in prison is a real thing and should not be taken lightly.
Sandlin said one of the guards declared, "I hate all white people and your honky religion."
This is where I'm at, fuck these people for what they did but the treatment prisoners get is awful and we need reform ASAP.Taking away the fact that these people are insurrectionists who tried to obstruct a democratic process, it's kind of gross that people in this thread are gleefully cheering on officers abusing people. That's me in the corner...

This is as obvious as when a "black" sitcom isn't written by black people. "What's up you jive turkey? I can't stand no honky religion." FOH. Did they guard also open up the cell and greet you with a "hello dere" before beating that ass? Are Trump supporters so gullible that they believe this horseshit? Nvm....of course they are.

I would kind of love it a lot if a black guard dropped "we hate all white people and your honky religion" because they knew everyone the insurrectionist talked to would think it was made-up bullshit.
I agree. Fuck those facists, but I have a feeling people wouldn't be cheering on these guards if their victims were men of color. Just saying. This is where I'm at, fuck these people for what they did but the treatment prisoners get is awful and we need reform ASAP.
I'm not asking you to feel anything for these people. I have no sympathy for fascists, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to cheer on abuse of power. You are absolutely right.
Let's compromise: I won't ignore the structural abuse when we have a thread about the structural incarceration of the US' non-white population.
In here, though, fuck those fascists.

I get what you're saying, I just want to express my discomfort while also making it clear that I do not tolerate white supremacy/fascism whatsoever. The "honky religion" thing did make me spit out my drink when I read it though.I agree, that said I think its a bit hyperbole to take that from the thread when most don't think the incident happened anyway.
There's is also a 'leopard party' (c) aspect here considering the insurrectionists literally stormed the capital to keep things like this going.
Hahaha I was gonna say putting raisins in the potato/ macaroni salad 🤣
In my experience, the people working in Corrections are arch conservative. Like, diehard conservatives.
They aren't beating you for your political beliefs, my dude. They're beating you because they do that to prisoners who make their job difficult. You'd probably know that if prison reform wasn't a "liberal" concept that you decry constantly.
One veteran D.C. defense attorney said many Capitol rioters were new to the District's jail system and might believe they're being specifically targeted when they're simply unfamiliar with being in jail at all — particularly in the harsh conditions of 23-hour-a-day isolation.

Kinda can't ignore that. I'm not going to give a fuck about a person getting beat up by something they have helped enable.
I can acknowledge a problem and also not give a fuck when that problem impacts a population that helped create it.
I do not care, at all, when terrible things happen to white supremacists. Ever. Period.
Why am I hearing all of this in the voice of Garth Marenghi?
