PS4 Pro and X1X have a 4K mode FWIW. Base versions are 1080p but that's not surprising, the original game was 720p and had trouble hitting it's 30fps max frame rate.
They arent 4K modes though. 1800p isn't 4K. I appreciate the higher rez though for sure but personally, I would have preferred HDR.
I can't decide on whether to pick this up or not. I keep flip-flopping. I played this back when it first launched on consoles and had a lot of fun with it. Played about 180 hours or so, never went back to it after a few playthroughs. I never played the Artorias DLC as that came out after I was done.
I flip flopped for a bit and ultimately decided on a pass. Even without playing artorias, 60$ is a tall order for marginal improvements and some dlc. If you're deadset, I'd say just pick up the dlc and play on the original.
I have to assume that XB's mp community will be alive and well and you won't be hurting for assistance or invasions. It'll be kicking on all platforms.

Depends I guess if you care about multiplayer which I don't, so that plays a factor.
Get something new and fresh instead of 40 for slightly better graphics and dlc. Go for Detroit.

I think most people consider Artorias to be the best boss in the entire series.

Personally I would pick up Dark Souls 1 because the player base will be massive and super nostalgic. Dark Souls 3 is also amazing but this is Dark Souls 1 with another chance and it's polished af.
Lol both eventually, I'm too much of a Souls enthusiast not to, but I meant for right now. Admittedly, I've never played the DLC of 1.

Those mixed comments youve heard are from folks who have just realized how iterative the Souls games (and by extension, From Software games) really are.
Still pissed/dissapointed that the Brain of Mensis concept (whivh I thought was insanely cool) is literally just a re-skinned Heart of Latria.

Im getting Dark Souls 1 at 60 fps at a resolution above 1080p with new textures and lighting, QOL improvements and complete with AOTA DLC all for 40 bucks.
Sold.
I will get at least 300 hours of playtime from this game.
Separate as in it's a different game? Most assuredly so.
Different? Apparently it's the same achievements trophies but we don't know how the DLC affects achievements like "Collect all weapons"
I played Bloodborne when I had little else on the PS4, felt exactly the same way about the Souls games. Dark Souls and Bloodborne now vie for the top spot in my list of best games!

I'd go with DS3. It's a fantastic game that's marred only by the fact that it's the third in a franchise and therefore isn't as "fresh", and the level design is a little more linear than DS1 and 2. But if you've not played it before, it still wins out over replaying DS1.

The thing that has always irked me about this GIF, is that the person is clearly decently far into the game, and makes the amateur mistake of running blindly at an enemy and not checking corners. Unforgivable.
What do you think Scholar of the First Sin is? It's a remaster.
I feel you. Not sure how much time I put in, but I never played the DLC. Went through a Souls series playthrough a little over a year ago, and I'm concerned it won't feel different/fresh enough to warrant the new purchase and playthrough. I'm also wondering if I should just hold out for the Switch version.

remaster of II is unnecessary, it is already 60fps in the SOTFN version
With the PC version + DSFix I don't personally see the point in buying the remaster for PC/PS4. I will keep an eye on the Switch version though, portable Souls is very enticing. I hope that version isn't a total disaster in terms of performance. I can do 30 fps no problem, but I hope it will be able to hold that frame rate consistently.
BB>DES>DS>DS3>Scholar>DS2 imo. Super excited to be apart of the community day 1 for this as I didn't have a pc at the time of release that could run DS at 60fps + mods. I am ashamed to say I never finished the ps3 version to completion so now's the time! Can't wait for Friday! Hope all you red phantoms out there gank me to give me the true get gud experience ;D
