Most of Ubisoft's recent output is pretty uncomfortable fare, whether it's extralegal military forces continuing the war on drugs by murdering thousands of dudes in Bolivia or the fascist militia of The Division killing the poor for trying to survive.
Story? Context? Design? Reason? Same reason you'd feel anything playing any type of game.
Off the top of my head, I really tried to get out of killing the doctors at the end of The Last of Us
Hmmmm maybe I just don't have empathy when it comes to games.I can't equate sucking ghosts into a vacuum to reality. Still sympathize because of the animation.
Yeah I wanted to try and get into it but once I read the animals limp away and whimper...nope.Only recently in Monster Hunter World, the whole limping and suffering of some animals not even agressive toward you in the first place.
I didn't kill the doctors. I made no such choice whatsover. The game did it for me I had no part in it so I felt no guilt. I did however feel anger.Off the top of my head, I really tried to get out of killing the doctors at the end of The Last of Us
Don't feel bad about the ghosts in Luigi's Mansion. They are already dead and you're just collecting them and handing them over to E.Gadd. No idea what he is doing to them though...

Only the first doctor with scalpel is forced to kill. The others don't.I never killed the others.
