I played Advanced once, and I felt like having to relearn the whole game again lmao.

It does make the first 5 levels or so harder by a fair amount, so a lot of people get turned off instantly but does feel a lot better later on.All the game is easy outside of the Super Boss.
"In Basic you deal 20% more damage, take 20% less damage and get 20% more XP."
This isn't a big deal.
These games (like all JRPGs) have never appealed to me but I decided to try out the demos of IV, V and Untold 1/2. I especially love that there is much less focus on story and the dialogue that's there seems well written and not cheesy like most RPGs.
If I had to pick only one, which one has the most fun gameplay and the best worldbuilding and characters?
EOV is probably the best game in the series but story wise it's really bare bones, so gameplay wise that one wins easily.
If you want something more story focused I'd go with EO3, but that's a DS game.
Less story is a big plus for me. I do enjoy good NPC interaction and dialogue though.
EO4 is considered a great game for newcomers to the series, so I'd recommend that one as well.
I'd go in release order, as they do add some neat QoL stuff every time they make a new one making it difficult to go back.
None of the games are really story focused so you don't have to worry about the games being story heavy at all unless you play the Story modes of Untold 1 and 2(both games have a Classic mode) but some of them still end up telling minimalist stories that can have quite an impact(1 and 3 probably are considered the fan favorite stories).
Time is a huge constraint for me, so I only want to pick one game. Whichever one has more exploration and more interesting world building and characters will do.
Untold 2 actually has pretty good characters and character interaction in the story mode.Time is a huge constraint for me, so I only want to pick one game. Whichever one has more exploration and more interesting world building and characters will do.
I hope so. Those are pretty respectible numbers. Better than EO2U first week I think.
I guess I'll go with V then but why is IV better for newcomers?
Could have been worse, they could have made the first 3DS one Etrian ODDDyssey. At least it's not "Etrian Odyssey Generations", and they managed to work an "X" into the title.
My wallet is ready.
CRY SOULLLLLLL
Wasn't as low accuracy as it is in EO2U. If you didn't bind her head you're pretty much one bad roll from a party wipe.
I recommend having someone to deal physical damage, like a Masurao or a Dragoon. Have someone to deal elemental damage, like a Warlock. You'll need a source of healing, which a Shaman can do along with providing buffs (though it takes a little while for Shaman healing to take off, so you may need to start out as a Botanist and reclass later, or augment your healing with items). How to fill out the rest boils down to personal preference. The only caveat is that having too many "summoner" types (Necromancer, Rover, maybe Dragoon) can be a problem because the number of slots you have for summoned allies is limited.I just got EOV. Any hints regarding party composition? Is there a good guide out there?
All kinds of builds are viable, but as a rule of thumb in EO I try to include some form of elemental damage, multiple target damage, raw damage at low TP cost, healing, a defensive tank and binds.I just got EOV. Any hints regarding party composition? Is there a good guide out there?
Not if you have your revenge hexers set up.
