Where do I go to level after I hit 30? I've been doing Quest but they seem to jump from 20 to 40+ and I'm pretty damn confused

I've been struggling in the southwestern area pretty hard. I made a huge mistake and took over one of the little campsites that you can take over and it was jacked up by a scorch beast for some reason. I'll try the northeastIt's nearly impossible to tie level requirements to the main quests. It's weird in that regard.
It seems more like the best way to level on a curve is to just wander around and do events. If you are the only person who enters a zone, the enemies scale to your level to an extent. I would explore the southwestern and northeastern bits of the map.
I've started leaving the server whenever a Scorchbeast shows up. I hate them so much.

What is it with mobs in this game. You try to go to a place, trigger one and then an army of 10+ comes just rushing at you. Sometimes like 20 levels above you. I hate it.
Also, at first it seemed I Was owning everyone, but now I am having issue with the lower levels mobs. Is it because I need to keep updating to the leveled weapons? Or is it just like this?
As a player above level 50, I can say you will need to have a play style in mind by the time you reach higher levels. At level 50 you stop getting SPECIAL points, and you can only go to 15 in one SPECIAL stat.
The easiest thing to do in my opinion is picture all the perk cards you want on at one time while generally playing the game, and level your SPECIAL around that. In order to do that you need to know what all the perk cards are, so you would have to look them up online. For crafting cards you wont have those on all the time, so don't factor that in except for the minimum to use them. I wanted to melee, so I put on the melee cards I wanted in a build planning tool as well as some explosives cards and quality of life cards. That ended up with me at like 15, 13, 5...and so on. The hard part is SPECIAL. It's a lot easier to do perk cards since you can get them past level 50. Since you can't respec until who knows when, unfortunately it pays to be careful.
You can equip as many perk cards as that stat can handle, so yes you have 15 one-star perks of you wanted. Sometimes it's more worth it to equip a weaker card that costs 1 than slightly stronger cards that would cost 9.
Ok, I think I get it. You can't reset your points right? I don't remember being able to in F3, F4.Each level of a card is worth one point. you could have 2 level 4 perks for a stat that you have 8 total allowance in or any combination as long as they don't exceed the limit. It does help to to swap cards out, but I do it mainly for crafting.Strength: 12
Perception: 8
Endurance: 8
Charisma: 3
Intelligence: 9
Agility: 8
Luck: 8

At this point maybe play another game? Don't waste your precious time on this mess.Getting hit with the failed to launch again on PC. Validating files for second time in 3 days.
I've tried run as administrator to no avail. Then I googled it and it said to just double click the exe in the game folder to bypass the launcher. Guess what...there is no exe to be found in the Fallout folder. I'd seriously like to know wtf is going on with this.
Edit: Validate didnt fix it this time. The exe files are def missing from the 76 folder. This has to be some kind of permission issue since I have it installed on the SSD along with Windows. The fix I'm trying next is to copy the Fallout folder somewhere else on the same drive, uninstall 76 then reinstall it to new path.
Edit2: Just ran another validate before I did that and lo and behold the exe file is back where it is supposed to be and game is ready to run. For real this is fucking bonkers.
Edit3: Just added some exclusions to Malware and Avast. That is the only thing that makes sense to me. I found no evidence of either of them quarantining the exe file but I guess I'll find out.
On the other hand, if you have a group all the enemies are meant to be possible to take down solo so it gets braindead easy. It's because the game doesn't scale for multiplayer. They pump many buildings and areas with huge mobs of enemies to compensate for potential groups of players working together.
For solo players it sucks when you walk into and trigger a small army coming after you. Its a problem with the whole game's encounter design, there is no scaling or consideration for amount of players, especially in events, so everything is preset encounters which are tuned in many cases for potential groups of players.
Destiny and various MMOs that deal with public quests and events have scaling systems to try and compensate and balance the encounter for the amount of players, they did none of that in Fallout 76 so it's kinda messy
Is this some kind of sick joke? I was just changing worlds and this was waiting for me:
Take me home, country road...
Also I've solo'd the entire thing so far, yes the pack sizes for enemies is huge but not entirely unfair, lone wander perk card is fantastic so get it.
Also just check out West tec in the mountains if you want to see how stupid it gets as the west wing is insane Solo, used 7 frag and 3 plasma grenades to survive that bullshit and is a good example of where scaling should exist as it has like 50 super mutants in an environment where one bullet triggers nearly all of them to rush you.
So what are you guys doing for levels? I'm 7 and I've got about two in every category. It's werid since this is a survival type game and there's no dialogue trees I'm not playing in my normal fallout fashion.
What did you higher level players focus on? Does it hurt to keep them all even in the end run?
Also, do you end up being able to equip multiple cards onto a category? It would kind of suck to have to keep switching the cards in and out.
On the other hand, if you have a group all the enemies are meant to be possible to take down solo so it gets braindead easy.
Oh I've just been leveling by exploring, haven't even reached that side of the map yet but very good to know. It's a great place to level up though. Me and my friend found that place at level 20, and now we are level 88 and 90. Get a good supply of mini nukes as well from killing the 2 dudes outside the front door.
Many encounters you run into simply can't be solo'd. You run into an army of molemen, about your level, it's a tough fight, you can fight them one by one sure, but in a horde..... oh wait that lvl 20 group you are fighting is lead by a lvl 45 boss moleminer who can two shot you. Not exactly a balanced encounter for a single player. They literally just overpopulate encounters to attempt to give the game some semblance of difficulty when playing in groups, it doesn't exactly work with how preset everything is and lack of scaling
Yeah it is but I came across a pump action silenced shotgun that does 8 less damage than my double barrel (80 as opposed to 88) and I've been rocking that one lately, figure I can put more rounds on target quicker with the pump action. I'm only level 20 thoughI'm level 42 and I've never felt overwhelmed to an unwinnable point. There was an event I did clearly designed with 4 people in mind, but it was one of the most fun solo experiences I had decimating hordes of Super Mutants, besides the single digit framerate of course but let's just not talk about that. Maybe it depends on the build people pursue, but I've dealt with most encounters with a melee weapon without any melee perks, and one of my 3 shotguns for anything that needs to die quick or is just a tougher monster in general. I'm built for shotguns and the double barrel is a monster, and with the right perks, stunlocks even the most difficult creatures I've come across. I've honestly felt the number level enemies have is mostly meaningless, more of a guideline than anything.
Cool. Thanks. You can't currently but they have said this is a feature they're going to add relatively soon.
.
Anyone who bought this should honestly be ashamed for enabling Bethesda's recklessness.

It doesn't always happen though. It's because the game doesn't scale for multiplayer. They pump many buildings and areas with huge mobs of enemies to compensate for potential groups of players working together.

Yea I use all 3 types of shotguns, at least the only 3 types I've found so far(Combat, Pump, Double). I like all 3 of them but try to stick to the Double Barrel because it conserves ammo. I don't like reloading the Pump Action during big fights either tbh. All of them are pretty good though.
Most things my level are really easy to take down. Have you upgraded your gun? Got one that's current level? Just kite groups until they're down to one mob.
Get power armor also.
Yeah, how dare we have fun with a great game.
Recklessness. Lol.
I feel like the pump-action is the odd man out in the shotgun trio. Feels like it is maybe more for those that aren't using shotguns for primary and want a more flexible shotgun to make a secondary use of shotgun shells. With shotguns as primary I think it's probably better to just run the combat shotgun and double-barrel, with the latter doing most of the work. I'm not even sure the combat shotgun will last the long term as it has slowly felt like even that has gotten less useful as my VATS critical side perks developed, and DR hits a point where you can just kind of walk into effective range.
I'm not very interested in this game, as much as I love Fallout. However, a friend of mine is really wanting to do some co-op.
Is it worth the $35 for some mindless co-op fun? I can have fun with just about anything in a group.

A great game. Lol. I love fallout, and while I was legitimately looking forward to 76 and hoping perhaps naively that it would represent a logical evolution in the series, or at least address some of the shortcomings of the previous entry, I refuse to drop $60 on an early-access title at best. Fortunately, it seems like I am in the majority, hence the historically bad launch for this game, which no doubt will serve a lesson for Bethesda.
when is the next patch? Nobody knows i assume. Really hope it comes with a bunch of fixes but i doubt it. Wonder if they'll ever fix the framerate on consoles... probably never
I regret buying it because my friends bought it. There are so many better co-op games out there.I'm not very interested in this game, as much as I love Fallout. However, a friend of mine is really wanting to do some co-op.
