Bring this out on Switch and I'll pay $100+ for all of this nonsense.

FF7 has been my favorite game for 20+ years. Let's do this.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I'm not sure why anybody expected otherwise. I'm late to the discourse, though; were folks anticipating payment mechanics of another sort?

I'd much rather pay per episode (meaning there'd eventually be a set, specific MSRP to buy the whole game, just like any retail game) than have a game with a shitty fucking gacha pay-or-grind economy.

The term they use, アイテム課金制(基本プレイ無, basically Microtransaction (Free To Play).

I checked their FFXV Pocket Edition and that says 1st chapter is free, while listing how much the subsequent chapter costs.
I'm expecting this to be gatcha now.

The mobile hate and "perfect for Switch" posts 🧐😅
Always the same...

This looks way better than FF XV PE, really disliked that chibi style.

This is too much FF7 media hitting recently, its like they couldn't make another fresh FF game and just remaking older ones.
I don't want to be negative, I still want to play FF8 as a complete remake and everyone has their own requests.

But man....another FF7 related title, how many more?
It's to keep momentum going while they work on part 2.

I haven't follow this much and while I like the idea behind it and how it it presented, I am as confused as exited.

I do not understand why Aerith is fighting in your party against the Scorpion but here we are.

I mean this always looked like it would be a very segmented 'greatest hits' of FFVII with gacha mechanics. I'm not sure why people were hyped for anything otherwise. It was never going to be another 'remake'.

As someone who's said both of these before

I get concerned when a game is announced for mobile/mobile first since I worry it's gonna be a grindy, gatcha nightmare game.

If it's not, then it's perfect for switch since you have access to both buttons and touch screen.

I hope I'm wrong but i think the game will not let us explore or control the characters outside of battles.

I hadn't thought of this until now but it's almost certainly true.

Makes it a much more mobile friendly experience and obviously also makes development of so much content a lot more plausible.

I guess this is exists mainly as a way to experience the "full story", not the game.

to be fair. mobile has so many crappy games with gotcha or pay to win mechanics.

And every time it gets something that "should be on consoles" people just can't shut up about it.
There are enough games without shitty gacha etc. on mobile and some also have controller support.

Seemingly it is fine to shit on a platform and port beg its games when the platform is hated by most of the people here.
Sadly, that is true for every niche platform.

If people went into Switch game threads and whined about a "game on weak hardware" (to be fair, Switch is weaker) or Playstation threads and cried about "how this won't be on a Game Pass like service" (to be fair, Sony does not have a service like Game Pass), it would probably be handled differently.

mobile is not a niche platform.
isnt it the biggest platform actually?

I think you'll be able to, the first shot with Cloud running across the T-shaped intersection has Cloud move at angles that'd look way too unnatural for a cutscene (if it didn't cut away, he'd run straight into a railing).

Of course I VERY much doubt there'll be much to it. We won't be exploring nooks and crannies, doing sidequests, or travelling over a 3D world map, I imagine.

What would be awesome is if they saw the reaction and were like "oh wait people would pay actual money for this as a full visual overhaul remake". Unlikely, but hey, it's scheduled for 2022.

I meant niche for the people frequenting this forum. That's why people feel entitled to this game, even though there actually is already a FF 7 remake.
well this seems to be a remake that actually may get finished. the other one will probably have 20 parts and the last one will release on PS 9 in 2099

My guess is some kind of extra mode that lets you fight bosses again with any characters.
