Could have sworn there were already rules in place to avoid trolling via Giftbot. In any case, a ban was certainly deserved. 🤷♀️ It's a dickish prank and not really funny IMO, it also locks out the winner from potential giveaways too
We have clarified several times prior that fake or gag giveaways are against our TOS. Users have already discussed this. Again, their ban will be lifted if the promised code is delivered.

Oh, I was not aware of that. How can I check? I am located in Europe, but not in an EU country.
Maybe check with the company you got it from. I only know because my UK code from the Bandai Namco store didn't work for someone outside the EU and because cdkeys were selling emea locked codes, not sure what countries that covers.
Ok well, I got it from Humble Bundle, the store page there doesn't really seem to say anything one way or another and the information on the net seems to be conflicting.
I guess let's see what happens, but be aware that the Elden Ring key MAY be EMEA locked.

Humble are usually good with letting you know. If you unlock the key it should tell you. If it doesn't, guess there's no reason to worry. The "mess" isn't really your fault lol, just Bandai doing weird things.
The problem really was a lack of responsible notification. Also if you're really going to do a Bad Rats / Popular New Game giveaway, have multiple keys and make the Popular New Game one of the winners so it feels like an actual game show.

The only issue might be as mentioned in previous posts if the key turns out to be EMEA region locked. But there is no indication on Humble Bundle page that this is the case so maybe not.
Gotta say, as someone who's really sick of the constant Elden Ring talk everywhere (still just entered the new giveaway though out of curiosity, full disclosure), this has been some ultra satisfying schadenfreude.

(Also think the person who got banned for pointing out that racism comes with a lighter sentence has a point, but I don't want to rock the boat, and I get that it's not something to be discussed here).

Totally justifiable ban. Beyond being against TOS it was just a really cruel thing to do, and a waste of everyone's time.

This is another reason I'd rather have people not do bait and switch gifting. People should be able to have faith that what they're entering for is what they're going to get. There are fun ways to give away a mystery game that aren't misleading people.
