You can easily hold the 3a XL with one hand. I'm coming off of a Nexus 5 and the size hasn't been an issue at all.
Really loving this phone. I didn't realize how slow my old phone was until using something this fast.

Question for those familiar with this option but on my original XL and I could've swore I did it day one with my Pixel 3a where you can change the color of the text text color of each individual contact in your phone.
Now I'm setting up my gf pixel and couldn't find it so I went back to my phone and suddenly the option is no longer there. Very strange.

I got $250 off trading in my old locked iPhone Se. No brained decision for me.
It's half the price and has an essential and basic feature that should never have become optional, called "headphone jack"

I like to upgrade my phones every 2 to 3 years usually and to me, each leap needs to be huge. I guess if someone gets a new one every year 3A can hold.
Well if you want a serious answer, the original Pixel 3 is massively overpriced here, near iPhone and S10 levels, by comparison the 3a is only slightly over priced but still in a reasonable range, it's under half the price of a 3 and I got a free Chromebook with it. And yeah, headphones jack is important to me.
Are you saying it's only good for a year? I've had a pixel for a few years and no issues w/ performance.
I would say this phone should have no issues unless you're into heavy gaming.
Any suggestions for a battery bank? Doesn't have to be big, just something for a little backup battery during the day.
You've had the original Pixel for a few years and have had no issues with performance? I'm legit jealous, I got the first Pixel, and the thing slowed to a crawl within six months. That was the main reason I ditched it
The 4GB RAM limit of both devices is likely to be the future-proofing bottleneck. And both devices suffer from the same dated design. And neither supports 5G.
In short, the double-priced Pixel 3 is only more future proof in terms of storage and SoC performance, and those aren't likely to be the limiting factors. Besides, the $400+ saved in 2019 will be able to buy a device in 2021 that will blow the full-fat P3 out of the water.
It's also better to have $400.

It's not about rustled jimmies, you just asked a question with a very obvious answer and seemed surprised by it.
I've just always been a fan of "pay a little more and get the best model in the lineup." The deals do make the 3A more appealing.
It's not "a little more" though when it's over double the price and has the same drawbacks as this model.

I concur. I have a Pixel 3 right now (bought it at $575 last fall), but if I were buying today I would definitely get one of the "a" models. The headphone jack is a nice bonus, on top of the primary driver, saving some cash.
Damn, my Pixel 2 is worth $199 to them, surprised they'll take an SE for $250.

That was the Google trade-in. Most stores are offering a $100 GC, but Google was also offering a $250 discount for an iPhone SE. I bought a used iPhone SE on eBay for $69 for the trade-in.
With the $100 GC I will buy a Google Home Hub (with a free Google Mini).

I started the trade-in without the iPhone. The iPhone I ordered from eBay arrives tomorrow... You have one month to send it. They will refund the money to the credit card.
It's smooth. Barely any more grip than the phone itself, if there is any. If you run your nails across it you can tell there is a texture, barely. It's thin like the cardboard of a folder. I got it with the 100 credit and still might return it. If I had paid actual money for it it would already have been returned. $10 case at best.
Duly noted, I'll pass then (I was gonna use the promotional $100 towards it). Thanks for your opinion.

I figured out what happens when you change your phone settings to Dark mode, you lose the option of customizing each individual to a color assignment which sucks. I tried reverting back to light mode for the option and even restarted my phone and it seems you lose it permanently unless you reboot your phone entirely. Google really needs to fix that or add color customizing to dark mode.
The full dark mode will be completen un Q. Gotta wait until August. Right now is kinda in beta.
So I had the trade already in my cart and it seems like google is honoring the $258 trade for the iPhone 6, no mention of the gift card anymore though

People are trying to frame this as historical Pixel jank (which it may be) but we should probably wait for more than like two reddit posts with 10 upvotes before calling it that (as opposed to any phone having some number of defective units)
Assuming it's adguard dns related which is a well known issue.
