I agree with you I just think the media is trying to prevent anything worse from happening. That doesn't mean what they are doing is correct.
Even anti-fascists, who are usually right there to counter-protest at every one of these things, didn't attend for safety concerns.
This wasn't anywhere near peaceful. It's intimidation, fascism, and terrorism. Plain and simple.
I agree with you, I just interpreted the media response as an attempt at de escalation. That doesn't mean lying about what is happening is correct though. You are right about giving others courage. Not good.
I'm highly suspicious of anyone who views this as a "peaceful" protest and I just assume they are sympathetic to white supremacism.
