Can we just talk about how good and varied the map design and objectives now?

Instead of the typical warriors formula of just base taking, and maybe taking care of a boss, there is a lot more to do in AoC.
The second map, where you have to escort Zelda out and run away from the guardians. Then you go activate the guardians, and then having to lure the guardian to the spot, while avoiding it, before having your final showdown with it is super super awesome. I have never seen such varied design in any warriors game. And that was just a single map It is so cinematic too, all told through gameplay nontheless.

Like seriously, how come more people aren't talking about it.

Also just as an aside. Can we all label our spoilers? I know some people want to talk the actual demo, and the datamine. Labelling will go a long way to make sure we can all discuss with what we are comfortable with.
Yeah, this stuff is great.

I didn't have much of a problem with the performance, but my game completely froze when I nearly had mission 2 completed and god damn, I wasn't going through all that again.

Having played a ton of HW1 I like the small changes they've made to the gameplay here. The slate abilities are a huge step up from the items in the first game that you would pretty much never actually use for combat unless a boss or environmental puzzle required one. The only downside is that the performance kinda sucks but it's probably just an old build, and even if it isn't I can easily look past it.

Hw was a small change to the classic Warriors formula
Probably Persona S is the next step
Hw AOC clearly is the evolution imho

So after being apprehensive about this with the earlier talk of bad performance I played the demo and........I'm a bit taken aback with calling this unplayable. It dosn't run great but to me its perfectly playable. I might have a higher tolerence for bad performance though.

Havnt played a musou in a very long time, this seemed like a lot of fun and I am interested where they are taking the story. Hope we get to see the calamity as how it happened and not some alternate reality though.

I'm not happy with those character icons... I'm now convinced this means the game is not a canon prequel, ugh... Get ready for the time travelling young champions to save the day and give us all the happy ending no one asked for. :/

The framerate didn't bug me too much, maybe I'm just used to it from Hyrule Warriors. What does bug me is how blurry the game is, the anti aliasing makes it look worse than BotW and Hyrule Warriors.

Character datamine
The future champions being in the base game is surprising to me, I expected them to be DLC. God I hope they aren't shoved into Calamity with time travel, have an epilogue or just make them playable in adventure mode.
Purah, Robbie, buff Yiga and the new villain not being playable is a shock, hope they come via update or DLC.
Yeah I can see some characters being post game/story content.

I defended CrossCode on Switch before the patch, usually never feel any slowdown in games people usually complain about (I still am dumbfounded at people who said Hollow Knight had any lag), but this is on a whole other level for me. Like, just moving the camera is hell, I feel like it snaps unnaturally due to performance in a very awkward way, like I don't know when to stop pressing the stick due to how much it jumps inbetween frames.
Agreed, it feels like 20-25fps paired with seriously horrible frame pacing.

If this actually happens then Aonuma weirdly doesn't understand why people wanted to see the events 100 years prior to BotW. Seriously, if they are trying pull a fast one and this is an alternate timeline I wouldhave rathered they just make a sequel to Hyrule Warriors than get our hopes up like this.
Nobody having ever seen the little guardian before but it being in a box in Zelda's room when Ganon returns coupled with the evil little guardian makes me hopeful this isn't the case and we just have a time loop.

You know what.. with the time travel stuff introduced at the start of the game

its the best oportunity to have a time travel future disguised Zelda try to fix things.
Lets have her be disguised as a Sheika and whatnot.

Hmm, so the box that fell off the shelf containing the small egg guardian, I wonder if that's an actual place/room you can visit in BotW.

With the character icons we've got, it looks like there won't be a mission for getting Link's body to the Shrine of Resurrection (since that would be a Robbie & Purah mission, and there's no icons for them), unless they do a major retcon of how that happened. So that's one late game BotW event that we probably won't be getting. Unless that's a villain chapter and we're Kohga and we're trying to stop them?

It honestly seems more likely to be a time loop. Either that or BOTW's memories was what happened originally, with AOC being the version with the Egg Guardian that tried to fix things, only to end up doing the complete opposite and worst

With the time travel and there being 2 guardians on each divine beast in the tapestry in the opening it looks like this game is actually going to be an alternate timeline anyways...

Does it run worse in docked mode or something? I haven't played it docked but it worked fine in handheld. The only part where I was disappointed with the performance was by the water with a lot of enemies around in the first mission.

So this wil end up being an alternate past where the good guys win? I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or excited by this

The fact we're everywhere from 20 to 60fps here makes me even more convinced all these unlocked framerates are indeed because of an incoming Switch Pro.

ill probably still love the game and should trust them, but yeah, this wouldn't be why this appealed to me so much at ALL. I really look forward to that Purah and Robbie scene :(

Honestly I'd wager on Great Fairy being a map marker as well. I could see them being playable, certainly, but it makes too much sense to just have them be an armor upgrade station as they are in BoTW
we have map icons for upgrades and armor separate of that though, just like how Hetsu has his marracas separate
I'm not happy with those character icons... I'm now convinced this means the game is not a canon prequel, ugh... Get ready for the time travelling young champions to save the day and give us all the happy ending no one asked for. :/
or just an epilogue

As for the 2 champions on the tapestry, I wouldn't worry about that. That could just be a reference to the original anonymous champions from 10,000 years ago and the AoC Champions. It doesn't have to be referring to the BotW characters, who are never called Champions, or even Champions-in-training, by anyone, even themselves.

To be fair, this game being advertised as a canon prequel to a game that left a lot of its backstory to the player's imagination is a valid reason for people to be upset when it looks like the prequel won't match with what they know/were expecting.

To be fair, it can still be that, in a "the future refused to change" kinda way. The information we have so far is limited.

People in here downplaying bad performance because it's a "musou thing" lol

Reminds me of the DP2 thread.

Did they ever say it was canon or we just collectively assumed, though?

Hyrule Warriors had very varied objectives so maybe it's not being mentioned much because it was expected?

I expected it personally, since it is a sequel of sorts.

Neither has One Piece Warriors 4 or Warriors Orochi 4
I just thought it was worth noting given it's a first-party-published title and there's been a trend of unlocked framerates that aren't quite stable, Link's Awakening for example. I get what you're saying though - I didn't expect smooth for a Musou, I just expected better than this.

Oof, this feels really bad to play due to the performance imo.
At times there seems to be like half a second of Delay after button presses.
I really hope the performance will be better In the final game or I'll pass.

DQH2 is probably my favorite musou and imo the best battle system.
but maybe it doesn't count as classic warriors formula actually, so disqualified lol. It's close to Team APRG

I didn't expect to be reminded of that awesome Return of the King game from the PS2 by this, but it definitely gave me similar vibes.

I was mildly interested before but now I'm getting it for sure. I'm not even that much of a Zelda fan except for Breath of the Wild but all the fan service got me good.
