Looks like a batch of Spider-Man 2 discs are having installation problems

I don't think they'll fix anything, not sure what they could do other than prompt a full download when you insert the disc, which would probably piss off a lot of people.

I've arranged to exchange my disc where I bought it, but it's an online shop so it'll take a while. And it'll probably be a lottery to get one that works... yay.

Sony support acknowledged the issue and told me to get the disc exchanged where I bought it.

Shit happens, this is the first time I've ever had any CD/DVD/Blu-Ray that didn't work.

Luckily I didn't have any issues installing. I was definitely worried about it as it was though.

Mine was fine, and installed the whole game in 40 minutes. I think, considering the game size, the installation time was okay.

I was able to get my physical copy loaded but it took almost an hour when it normally should take a minute

can't you just swap it from wherever you bought it?
not sure where you live, but US retailers will let you return opened products and swap for an identical product in cases of defects. you just can't get a refund once it's been opened

this happens often enough with UHD discs, it's usually no hassle with any retailer in my experience

If a certain percentage of discs have the issue you can be certain it's happening in the manufacturing process.

All PlayStation products since day one have been 100% protected from manufacturer defects through their regular customer service channels.

Crap, was tempting to grab this later today at GS, but then remember this thread. Should be easy enough to exchange given I live so close, but it sounds like some work arounds like cleaning the disc or installing the game offline seems to be working?
