Whose are yalls top 3 characters in the first game? Mine would be
Sakura
Kyoko
Jojunko, Queen Junko
in no order
Anyway, onto the second game! It'll be interesting to see what they come up with next. Things i'm expecting to see eventually.
Someone trying to kill someone and failing, then the fallout from that
Murder then suicide
Accidental death
Alliances
There's also no 'D' in Makoto Naegi. But they do have the same voice actor (in both English and Japanese).Nagito Komaeda? Boy you can't fool me, that's a single "a" away from being an anagram for Makoto Naegi

You'll definitely fangasm over one particular part of 2 after having come directly from Zero Escape.

No Sakura? This list is bad, do you understand?
...don't make theories at 2 in the morning. VA definitely stepped his game up this time around thoThere's also no 'D' in Makoto Naegi. But they do have the same voice actor (in both English and Japanese).
Yeap! Are you sticking with the English dub for DR2? Gundham's English VA is my favourite in the series because of how outrageously hammy he is.

(improved) hangman's gambit is some humble shit. It is in fact improved
I thought it fixed the problem the initial version had of just waiting there doing nothing most of the time. And I can speed this version up if I choose to. I know what they were going for trying to simulate pulling a thought deep from your head. I personally would have done something like a word vomit and you have to dig through the words and pull up the right ones.Wasn't expecting this, gonna be honest.
That said maybe it's a lot more bearable early on, I don't really remember.

Now this was some bullshit. Way too pickyMEAT ON THE BONE

THE BONE ON MEAT
I have nightmares of the first DR2 trial.
I can definitely see that. That scene hit hard in this game.
I can understand why some people don't like it. You're at the climax of the case and the game slaps you in the face to make you remember something dumb like "HAIR". And you just kind of sit there waiting for RNG to give you the letter.I feel like Improved Hangman's Gambit is probably the most reviled element from any of the main games lol. I didn't really like it, but I also didn't hate it as passionately as some people do. I do like pretty much every other trial minigame, though.
Seems like they picked up a VA director for this game. Lot less "mediocre first take but keep it anyway" in the sequelCharacters still have liked and disliked gifts.
This is gonna be a fun one. I love DR2 so much. The cast is (mostly) fantastic and it contains one of my favorite murder mystery scenarios ever. And yeah, Makoto/Nagito's voice actor really did wayyy better as Nagito.
The thing that pissed me off the most about the case was the swimsuit thing. Nothing was ever explained about the baseball bat, why she broke the fish tank in the first place, what she did with the swimsuit after leaving the classroom, and why she even used the swimsuit when the bat was right there. I also don't like how no one besides mahiru called boss baby out on murdering the girl back in highschool. In fact, I don't even know why he killed mahiru in the first places. You had already killed the person who actually killed your sister.Yeah, in general I loved the cases in DR2, but this one is probably the worst because of the reasons you listed. The mystery was decent, but the motive and a lot of things about it just didn't feel right.
IMO that's something both later DR games struggle with. The motive often isn't all that strong. Thankfully, the cases are usually good enough it overrides that.
Yeah, chapter 2 has a lot of problems which is a real shame since the Twilight Syndrome framing is super cool and the whole case had the potential to be one of the best in the series. Most people feel that DR2 is a far less consistent game overall than DR1, its low points are deeper and more frequent, but the high points blow away everything else in the series. The thing that pissed me off the most about the case was the swimsuit thing. They also never addressed the food poisoning in the last case
As soon as I saw that I was like "oh shit", great start to a mehish case. Don't really like Mikan killing people for what amounts to "just because". Didn't have a motive to kill Ibuki or anyone in general really. I know they're at the point of the game where they have to continue killing off characters but ran out of internal motivations after the second case.I have some issues with Case 3, but I really appreciated the scene where Hajime watches the stream of "Ibuki" hanging herself. That's the only time I remember from the series where the tone really felt like horror.
After I exhausted any logical choices I already knew whatever the correct choice was going to piss me off. Then I just went scorched earth and fired every bullet at every statement. What a waste of time.Literally the worst trial round the game (series?) tries to pull on you, and a total "Guide Dang It" moment. IIRC monokuma pulls it out of his ass too and asks "but what about this?"
Some motives make more sense with added context from later reveals. As soon as I saw that I was like "oh shit", great start to a mehish case. Oh yeah... it's popcorn time.
You do. best game in the series.
Most divisive in the series is a better assessment, because boy if those twists don't land right you'll hate V3 rather than love it. It's the videogame form of Marmite.
Yeah, I also pegged her as a survivor in my first playthrough since she was competent and seemed to have a good sense of justice. She unfortunately just bit off more than she could chew in Chapter 2.
