well doa5 special edition then. also looking at the rate of musou games being released on switch i wouldnt be surprised if koei tecmo will port the dw9 engine down the line.

Dead or Alive 5 (Last Round) DX (Definitive Edition in the west) on Switch is such a super obvious thing. KT's PS3 ports to Switch have been frankly outstanding. DW8 and SW4 both run in 60fps on Switch and I think also run at 900p (Destructoid observes this for DW8).

It's their downports from PS4 that are very hit and miss. WO4 was horrid on Switch, but the Atelier games have gotten better (Atelier Lulua is surprisingly close to PS4 this time, unlike Lydie). Though the Roronoa trilogy seemed iffy, like Rorona DX in the beginning has low-res textures but they get better and become high-res after? Fucking weird from what footage/screens I saw. Totori and Meruru look more identical to the PS4 versions bar shadow quality (I think it's less filterd or lower-res, can't remember, but it wasn't bad like it sounds).

Some field to battle transitions were missing in Rorona and Meruru Switch but for all I know that could've been fixed in any of the four patches the Switch ports received.

This one has actually been delayed to unspecified date. Web eShop page was even removed.

https://ec.nintendo.com/JP/ja/titles/70010000013555

My guess is that RSG were initially planning to release it themselves digital-only, but then a publisher stepped-in and signed to release the game themselves (at retail too)

It is a great game btw, I enjoyed it a lot despite some annoyances. a solid adventure/puzzle game with a focus on narrative. but those who like more action/fast paced gameplay may not like it. story felt like a mix between Attack on Titan and Muv Luv (on a much smaller scale, of course) and Reika herself is very similar to Eren. the game is lengthy too, 10-15h~ to finish.

2018 was a big disappointment for 3DS in Japan comparing to support Nintendo gave it, 480k of hardware and 2,33m of software were shipped. Nintendo forecasts very low numbers for 2019 and Japan will have an even lower share of them since they will depend on catalogue sales.

I'm sorry if this seems a novice question, but how far apart are the Mario Maker 2 and FE:Three Houses releases?

Seemingly, I have the impression Nintendo isn't putting much stock in FE carrying the Spring/Summer. I guess what I'm trying to say is they (Nintendo) don't view FE as a major game player in Japan. (Although I love FE the excitement seems subdued.) Did fates do well?

Would love to be wrong though.

Why would it need to carry the Spring/Summer? There are two bigger games shipping the month before in Yokai Watch 4 and Super Mario Maker 2. Mario Maker and Three Houses are releasing a month apart.

Fates was the best selling Fire Emblem since the SNES and the series is growing, so Three Houses should be fine. Nintendo has a line-up set where they don't have to rely on any single game to carry the load for a season moving forward.

Well that's kind of my point.. It's sandwiched between releases looking to suffocate.. Should have released before or been scheduled to release first week of May.. This (to me) is putting it out to pasture, so to say.. Which is why I asked how far apart are the releases? A month? Seems confident... I guess /s

How much time does a game need? A month apart is plenty, and really they could have been released in consecutive weeks, they appeal to different demographics.

Nintendo said (or implied) Fire Emblem got delayed out of the Spring timeframe due to polish/quality issues, it would have been April/May if things went perfectly. I think it was clear how their schedule was originally going to be laid out.

Okay, so delay it further. Doesn't look extremely polished either way. They may appeal to different demographics but Nintendo wants their games to appeal to Switch users as a whole. Cluttering releases seems to counteract that intention (in my opinion.)

I wasn't looking for a debate though, a month is plenty...

Delay it into the fall? Where Zelda, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, and more are all releasing? Nintendo has a packed schedule, Fire Emblem is slotted perfectly before Obon and will perform well. I wouldn't worry unless a quality drop kills the legs; it will at least launch in line with Awakening and Fates.

Edit: Sorry, I know you weren't looking for a debate, the original question/worry didn't make much sense to me and sometimes I try to make others think things through with questions of my own.

There are Nintendo's dated titles so far. With the exception of Mario that wouldn't be affected I don't think delaying any of these into the more packed following quarter could help their sales.

2019.06.28 Super Mario Maker 2
2019.07.19 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
2019.07.26 Fire Emblem: Three Houses
2019.08.30 Astral Chain

If Nintendo really launch Switch Pocket in June, do you think it will help sales of these games? Super Mario Maker 2 for sure, but I don't know if it will have an impact on other games sales.

They will all benefit from the marketing surrounding the new revisions launch and the likely lower entry barrier if its cheaper. Wont make or break anything since Switch is already a healthy plattform - but its gonna help.

No, delay it until it has sufficient quality and has space to show some leg. However long that may be, next spring even.

Although you may find the initial question inane, the real question lies in your interpretation of it. Now, whether or not you "think" the person has thought it through is irrelevant, as you never actually assuaged any concern. I never said it wouldn't sell "well", I was questioning whether the release pattern indicated a lack of confidence that it'll have legs.. but again as I said to another user, I thought MM2 was the latter in releasing. Making this whole dialogue tangential at best...

Which is what they've done already, legs won't be affected by Mario Maker 2 being close or not, legs don't need space unless you have a clearly similar but better title releasing close to it like a very close competitor, a sequel or an extended rerelease. None of that is coming anywhere close to Three Houses so it won't have any impact on its legs.

Doesn't look like it, looks more like a Koei Tecmo game with FE characters... MP4 that sucker... lol kidding, not really... Did you not see that this was already resolved?

No, delay it until it has sufficient quality and has space to show some leg. However long that may be, next spring even.

Unfortunately, I feel Nintendo has been very "safe" with Switch's software output so far. after they invested a lot of money on Wii U, they've gotten much more careful. for example, Xenoblade Chronicles X was probably a very big investment compared to how Nintendo usually develop games, and then it feels like 2 didn't receive the same budget/time at all. they also reused a lot of Wii U's software output either by porting them or building on their foundation to cut costs and increase profit.
and while I can't wait for Three Houses, i can't deny it looks like a low-budget project. they also were very careful about their deals with third parties, they didn't want to greenlit NMH3 until Travis Strikes Again (which is, honestly, closer to an indie game than anything else) proves there is demand for the franchise, and SMTV's exclusivity was not confirmed until Switch became successful. only then, they started investing more resources into the Switch and partnering for titles like MUA3/Astral Chain/Daemon X Machina and others.

Doesn't look like it, looks more like a Koei Tecmo game with FE characters... MP4 that sucker... lol kidding, not really... Did you not see that this was already resolved?
Nintendo has delayed it twice already and if they felt like it needed further delay I am sure they wouldn't be afraid to do so. Nintendo clearly feels this is the right time and right build to release. Since no one has gotten hands-on with the game, let's wait to judge its quality.

Will things return to normal this coming week or will Golden Week continue on and impact Famitsu (sales and magazine) again?

Switch everygreen lineup has grown quite a bit since last year and Smash is still THE game - so yeah expecting big numbers.
