Taiko Drum 'n' Fun has sold over 600k
With those kind of worldwide numbers they should really disregard Japan and focus on making higher budget Taiko games on the PS4/PC(+ possibly XBO).
I'm laughing and crying.

Wow I don't follow sales numbers as much as before and I just noticed Yoshi bombed.
Deserved not for the game but for Nintendo's planning if you ask me.
It was the same on Wii and Wii U, too much platformers from Nintendo. Do something different FFS. When it's not Yoshi it's Kirby, or Mario, or DK. When it's not yarn it's paper...

Now it's releasing on june 20th.

Ooooooh, the stream crossed this week? π―Switch outsold PS4 at its 272th week. It took 114 weeks for Switch, it launched at PS4 158th week.
Yoshi is definitely selling not as well as I expected at first, and it can definitely be argued that a close release to NSMBU DX might have negatively affected its sales potential.
I really can't see how the PS4 won't hit 9m. It will no doubt finally receive a price cut at some point this year which will boost sales.Day's Gone doing close-ish to 200k (still some 40k away of course) in Japan isn't half bad. Honestly didn't feel like the sort of game that'd have a market in Japan.
PS4 is very much on a free fall at this point, doubt it'll even reach 9M. Meanwhile Switch keeps on selling like hotcakes AND with a very positive software life too. Wonder if it can break the 20M mark? 15M seems like an easy "target" per say, given it's already racing to 9M with 2 years (give or a take a couple of months) in the market. I'd be pretty cool if it did!
Just saw the press release for the Taiko no Tatsujin sales milestones, and saw Bamcp mention they're going to support Drum 'n' Fun in the long run with DLC and stuff. Looks like they've changed their strategy of annual (and multi-annual) games, or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. We'll see come September, I guess!
They release a free update with new game mode today.

I dunno, we've been constantly expecting price cuts for the PS4 all gen long and they've just kept on cruising. It feels like once we get actual PS5 info (which will likely happen before 2020 arrives) the sales of the PS4 will slow down globally (which is natural) and end any chance of truly getting to 9M (if it hasn't gotten there yet).I really can't see how the PS4 won't hit 9m. @Famitsu
I see RDR2 has sold about 225k retail.
Didn't the previous PS4 Taiko completely bomb? This year's game will be on PS4 anyway.(and probably sell less than Drum 'n' Fun in 2019)
I seem to recall it selling like 70k but I might be wrong. That probably won't stop them putting out more on PS4 though.
Isn't that a bomb for Taiko though? I'm pretty sure the franchise did better on Wii U and Vita even.I seem to recall it selling like 70k but I might be wrong. That probably won't stop them putting out more on PS4 though.
I recall Nintendo reporting 140k copies sold in Japan for Yoshi in its previous FY. (So what they shipped in the first week)
So with Famitsu reporting the game at around 130k sell-through, I'd presume they've already sold through the initial 140k and have done a second shipment. Granted I don't think Yoshi had as big of a debut as Nintendo expected since it took 6-ish weeks to get through that first shipment. It will by no means be a bomb though, I can see it legging to a very respectable number by the end of Switch's life.

Is L5 delaying YW4 2 weeks to try and give them more time to build up preorders/interest? How weird.
Japan is less than 10% of PlayStation 4 sales.Weird to see people posting over the last few weeks that Sony was right to abandon Japanese-developed AAA games when Bloodborne and Gran Turismo are up there holding their own or even performing better than western games.
Switch sales depends a lot of new first party software and it's very calm right now. I wouldn't be surprise if sales were down YoY until Super Mario Maker 2 release, then sharply up.2019 is going to be the best year for Switch and was until now impressively up YoY on Japan, that is, until 2 weeks ago. I still find it odd that it's even slighlty down YoY this week (and the previous week).
I don't know, but if Switch Pocket really release in late June, the beginning of this month would have been a bad timing for the game.Is L5 delaying YW4 2 weeks to try and give them more time to build up preorders/interest? How weird.

I'm not talking about the consumer market. I'm talking about investment in game development. Japanese games are selling as well as Western games when given the same budget and marketing push.

Even at it's current price it will make it next year. But Sony would be crazy not to cut it. The consumer who will buy a $500 PS5 is not the same as those who would buy a really cheap PS4.I dunno, we've been constantly expecting price cuts for the PS4 all gen long and they've just kept on cruising. It feels like once we get actual PS5 info (which will likely happen before 2020 arrives) the sales of the PS4 will slow down globally (which is natural) and end any chance of truly getting to 9M (if it hasn't gotten there yet).
If it does get a decent price cut in Japan (or WW) then yeah, 9M seems more than feasible. At this current rate? Feels like a mountain to climb :/
Good news. Digital is more profitable for Capcom and Sony.Iceborne physical bundle went completely unnoticed at retailers. Unless there's some push with benefits from Capcom almost everyone will prefer the digital option.
