At this rate is a complete business suicide to ignore Switch if you're a japanese developer.

Depends if you're going for a mainly Japanese family-friendly audience (to which I would very much agree with your statement) or not.

If your target is a global audience and/or your game isn't family-friendly, then I don't think it would be business suicide to ignore the Switch.

Switch's audience isn't restricted to family-friendly titles. I think you're still stuck with the Wii/Wii U days rethoric.

Oh we are in complete agreement. The Switch's audience is not restricted to family-friendly titles.

That's just what sells the best and the market that Nintendo laboriously has carved out for itself.

I would propose to split the Famitsu numbers using the data provided by Dengeki, resulting in this:

Or is there any hope that we will get weekly data somehow?

Split used is this:

[CwSystem - Week 19 - Week 18
--------------------------
Switch - 38,1% - 61,9%
PS4 - 37,5% - 62,5%
3DS - 35,3% - 64,7%
Vita - 47,1% - 52,9%
ETC - 38,7& - 61,3%[/CODE]

Using Dengeki's percentages to estimate Famitsu's numbers is exactly what I had in mind as well. I believe it yields a much better estimate than dividing the two-week numbers by two.

If your target is a global audience and/or your game isn't family-friendly, then I don't think it would be business suicide to ignore the Switch.

There are many examples of third party games targeted towards an adult/core audience that sold well on Switch on a global scale. Sure, ignoring Switch doesn't mean "business suicide" but might not be a great move all things considered.

Why do people here pretend the Switch hasnt sold well in the West. Its the fastest selling platform in the US, and EU sales have been very good too.

People keep saying "oh it needs to be PS4 exclusive because muh global audience" yet we have Switch ports selling up to twice as much compared to their PS4 counterparts (credit to Anihawk).

Yeah - its funny....most of the Japanese content arrives on Switch because its a success global and likely wouldnt happen if it was a japan only affair.

I'm not sure anyone is arguing that a game needs to be PS4 exclusive in this regards. After all, making a game multiplatform will only result in the game selling more. Its more a question if this extra investment is worth it or not.

Because overall third party software sales are bigger on ps4 (, xbox one and pc).
It's fairly from western developers, but japanese developers never be destined to develop smaller games.

Hard to say that when 99% dont put their current games on Switch, and the ones who do come out 6 months later.

Best bet is to put games on everything, and rake in the full potential. Limiting them to PS4 is just strangeling mid-small devs to death.

Overall it could be true, although for smaller games (and also for smaller Japanese games) the performance on Switch has regularly been better. However, it's a fair point to wonder to what extent this is the case: indications for MK11 on Switch in the US, for example, are that Switch is competitive with the XB1 version, and indications from Bethesda are that their games are doing well (and they are bringing more games to the system). For Ubisoft, Activision, etc. it's a self-fulfilling prophecy: they don't put their games on the system, or at best months or year's after the original release, so it's not even possible for Switch to disprove that notion. Basically all releases that do come (except maybe FIFA - although the only concrete indication that it's not doing on par with XB1 is from the UK performance: Spanish performance seems on par, for example, and other regions are not known - though, mind, it's quite likely that Switch isn't up to par for that game imo) are doing well.

If Switch is able to put in XB1 level of performance for Western games and (close to) PS4 level for Japanese games, then it should get anything remotely feasible if it were considered on the same terms as PS4/XB1 multiplat are

I'm kind of curious what the long-term consequences of a market like this could be if it continues like this through the next hardware cycle, particularly on the strength of publishers IP.

Since third party support on Switch is, once again, a topic in these threads (including hyperboles and incomplete pictures, unfortunately), here's an updated version of the recap of third party support by developer, outlining their support so far and my thoughts on the matter.

The lists will try to highlight the release conditions for almost every title (i.e. if it's an exclusive, a late port, a multiplatform game released on the same day as the other systems, etc.) Lists and opinions on each developer will be inside spoilers, to make it more readable. I'll also try to focus on retail-only games, with a few exceptions, which means that there are going to be titles missing by being digital-only releases. You can even ignore my own thoughts on each publisher, my main hope is that a more-informed opinion on the system's overall support can be formed by looking at the released / upcoming titles for each publisher.

Updated as of May 17th, 2019

Arc System Works

Games already on the system:
- Happy Birthdays (enhanced re-release)
- Cube Creator X (exclusive)
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle (same-day multiplatform release)
- World End Syndrome (same-day multiplatform release)
- Jake Hunter Detective Story: Prism of Eyes (same-day multiplatform release)
- Daedalus: The Awakening of Golden Jazz (same-day multiplatform release)
- Kunio-kun: The World Classics Collection (collection of ports; same-day multiplatform release)
- BlazBlue Central Fiction: Special Edition (later re-release)
- Wizard's Symphony (same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Pack (collection of ports)
- Kill la Kill If (same-day multiplatform release)

Considering their overall output as a publisher, a strong supporter, with several titles released on the same day as the other consoles and a few legacy releases.

Fates crossed / 10

Atlus

Games already on the system: 0
Upcoming titles:
- Shin Megami Tensei V (exclusive)
- Persona 5: Scramble (same-day multiplatform release)

Thanks to the Persona Super Concert Live, Alus' support for the system just doubled! Isn't that nice?
/s
Seriously though, finally we have another Atlus game coming to the system. Hopefully, more will follow, like EO next and a potential SMTIII Remaster.

2xMystery Food X/10

Bandai Namco

Games already on the system:
- One Piece Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition (re-release)
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for Nintendo Switch (late port)
- One Piece Pirate Warriors 3: Deluxe Edition (late re-release)
- SD Gundam G Generations Genesis for Nintendo Switch (late port)
- Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy for Nintendo Switch (late port)
- Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum' n' Fun! (exclusive)
- Pro Baseball Famista Evolution (exclusive)
- My Hero Academia: One's Justice (same-day multiplatform release)
- Dragon Ball Fighter Z (late port)
- Cats Together
- Nari Kids Park: Hugtoo! Super Sentai | Ultraman | Pretty Cure (exclusives)
- Kamen Rider: Climax Scramble Zi-O (exclusive)
- Chou Tousouchuu & Chou Sentouchuu Double Pack (collection of ports)
- Billy on Road (exclusive)
- Katamari Damacy Reroll (remaster; console exclusive)
- Go Vacation (remaster; exclusive)
- Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition (remaster, same-day multiplatform release)
- Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match DX (re-release with additional content)
- Super Robot Wars T (same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission (console exclusive)
- Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Deluxe Edition (late port)
- Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Deluxe Edition (late port)
- NinjaBox (exclusive)
- SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays (same-day multiplatform release)
- Digimon Survive (same-day multiplatform release)
- Doraemon Story of Seasons (exclusive)
- Disney Tsum Tsum Festival (exclusive)
- God Eater 3 (late port)
- Bakutsuri Bar Hunter (port of a 3DS game - maybe - )
- Fishing Spirits: Nintendo Switch Version (home version of an arcade title with exclusive content)

Bandai Namco started with lots of ports of older titles, but they've definitely seen a massive improvement, since late ports are now just a component of its support, and not the only thing they're bringing. We see more exclusives and same-day releases by them. Namco is a big Switch supporter, but this doesn't mean things are perfect, with some bigger titleslike (Jump Forces still not releasing on the same day or not coming to the system at all, even if not all the absences are "unreasonable" (for example, the just announced SAO game isn't coming yet because the franchise is very story driven and the games taking place before Alicization Lycoris have yet to release on the system; it makes sense to wait until both are on the system to bring the new one to the Switch) and some others might be "corrected" in the next future (like God Eater 3). A strong supporter of the system, although with some stuff still missing.

Chou Shinka / 10

Capcom

Games already on the system:
- Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers ("exclusive")
- Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (enhanced version)
- Resident Evil: Revelations Collections (collection of ports)
- Mega Man Legacy Collection 1+2 (collection of ports)
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 (collection of ports; same-day multiplatform release)
- Okami HD (late re-release)
- Mega Man 11 (same-day multiplatform release)
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (collection of ports; same-day multiplatform release)
- Capcom Beat'em Up Bundle (collection of ports; same-day multiplatform release)
- Onimusha: Warlords (remaster; same-day multiplatform release)
- Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (collection of ports; same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Dragon's Dogma (late re-release)
- Resident Evil Origins Collection (late bundle of ports)
- Resident Evil 4 (overpriced late port)
- Devil May Cry HD non Collection (the time has come for a decoupled late port)

Judgement on Capcom should be seen with two sides.
Re-releases-wise? They're doing pretty well now, even if they've been slow to include Switch in this specific pipeline, and it still shows. New releases-wise? Megaman 11 is still the only new game that Capcom has released on the system, while all the AAA efforts have missed the system and will probably keep on doing so. To be fair, well-based rumours and a specific tease from MHP/MHX's director points to a Switch-specific MH game happening in the next future, which would definitely make their support look better. I'd say it's decent at best, nothing more. Obviously, an important downgrade compared to the 3DS era.

Hold it! /10

Spike Chunsoft

Games already on the system: 0 (not including published-only titles like Portal Knights or Crypt of the NecroDancer)
Upcoming titles: AI: The Somnium Files

Definitely a publisher that doesn't care too much about the system, with Danganronpa and Zanki Zero missing and not seeing Switch versions anytime soon. But AI is a decent cult get for the system. Still, very small support in Japan.

Not much to say/10

Colopl

Games already on the system: 0

Upcoming titles: Projct Shironeko (exclusive)

A mobile developer that is bringing their (seemingly) big console adaptation of their strongest franchise on the Switch; it's also their only console game, currently.

Lawsuit/10

Compile Heart

Games already on the system: 0

Upcoming titles:
- Moero Chronicles Hyper
- Mary Skelter 2 (including 1)

Not including the likes of Gun Gun Pixies and Fairy Fencer F since they're Western-led initiatives. Not much, but with today's MK's announcement we're at two surprising appearances on the system, considering their history on Nintendo platforms. Super Neptunia RPG would be among them as well, if only it were confirmed for a Japanese release. Both Azure Lane and Date a Live are PS4 exclusives, but we'll see if there's going to be more on Switch in the future.

Not that moe/10

Cygames

Games already on the system:0

Upcoming titles: 0

A major mobile actor that's currently strongly pushing their console offerings on PS4, with two high-budget Granblue Fantasy games and Project Awakening. Will they announce a Switch-focused game? At the current time, they stand as the only Japanese publisher with no games released or with a future release on the system.

0% /10

D3 Publisher

Games already on the system:
- The Misshitsukara no Dasshutsu: Unmei o Tsunagu 35 no Nazo
- The Mahjong
- Nightshade (late release)
- Funghi Explosion: Funghi Puzzle (budget re-release)

Upcoming titles:
- The Experience! Sports Pack (collection of games)
- The Variety Game Large Set (collection of games)
- Omega Labyrinth Life (exclusive)

D3 Publisher is definitely not one of the Switch's best supporters. They have several eShop-only releases, the classic "Simple" series, as well as a few otome games (Nightshade is the one that saw a retail release) and the surprising apprearance of OL, a franchise that has always seen releases on Sony systems. At the same time, no EDF (EDF!EDF!EDF!) and Onechambara is PS4-only. Definitely a support more reminiscing of their 3DS efforts, with a small glimpse of something more.

The/10

Entergram

Games already on the system:
- Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai: Library Party (late release)
- Kimi no Hitomi no Hit me (late, digital-only release)
- Rep Kiss (late release, digital-only)
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hou (re-release with all the released content)
- Soi Kano: Gyutto Dakishimete (re-release, same-day multiplatform release, but digital only)
- Amaekata wa Kanojo Nari ni (late, digital-only release)

Entergram have released several of their catalog titles on the system, with the caveat of most of them being digital only. Moreover, there are still several Entergram new releases still missing the Switch, including the upcoming Konosuba game. Definitely on the system, but not that much.

USO DA/10

From Software

Games already on the system: Dark Souls Remastered (late-release remaster)

Upcoming titles: 0

The original Dark Souls is on the system, and Sekiro (published by Activision) had no chances to be released. Definitely not expecting too much from them in the next future, aside from more Dark Souls ports.

Capra Demon/10

FuRyu

Games already on the system:
- Work x Work (former exclusive)
- Beyblade Burst: Battle Zero (same-day multiplatform release)
- Pikachin-Kit: Game de Pirameki Daisakusen (exclusive)
- Doraemon: Nobita no Getsumen Tansaki (exclusive)
- The Caligula Effect: Overdose (later release)

Upcoming titles:
- The Alliance Alive HD Remaster (remaster; same-day multiplatform release)
- Cardfight!! Vanguard EX (same-day multiplatform release)

Not exactly the fastest publisher to show up, but they're now bringing their 3DS franchises to Switch, with The Caligula Effect as a bonus.

Good transition/10

Granzella

Games already on the system: a few eShop-only releases

Upcoming titles:
- Disaster Report 4+: Summer Memories for Nintendo Switch
- R-Type Final 2 (?)

Granzella, former Irem, is a very small developer, even compared to other small developers in the Japanese market, and they've not supported Nintendo systems *that* much in recent times, which is why yesterday's announcement of DR4 (the first time the franchises appears on a non Sony system, actually) is surprising (alongside the...several questions on how the game will run on Switch) and might indicate a more multi-platform approach for their next future. The next R-Type might be the next one to follow, given how the company is gauging interest via online surveys (the game is currently announced for PS4).

What the/10

Gungho

Games already on the system: 0

Upcoming titles:
- Ninjala (exclusive)

Gungho's list of upcoming titles could be richer if only both Grandia I and Grandia II HD Remasters were officially confirmed for Japan. Their current console lineup is mainly made of Switch games.

Bubble/10

Grasshoper Manufacture

Games already on the system: Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes (exclusive)

Upcoming titles: 0

Not much to say, since their newest system is exclusive to the system and it's possible we might see more Travis in the future.

Stylish/10

Idea Factory

Games already on the system and upcoming titles:
- Hakuoki Shinkai: Fuukaden for Nintendo Switch
- Code: Realize - Bouquet of Rainbows
- Nil Admirari no Tenbin: Irodori Nadeshiko
- Cendrillon PalikA
- Yunohana SpRING! ~Mellow Times~ for Nintendo Switch
- Diabolik Lovers: Chaos Lineage
- Moujuutsukai to Ouji-sama ~Flower & Snow~
- Tlicolity Eyes: Twinkle Snowtime
- Katakoi Contrast: Collection of Branch
- Jakou no Lyla: Trap of Musk

Sorry if I can't filter between the two categories for these games, but trying to gather informations on all the Otome titles releasing on Switch is a difficult task, and I'm absolutely sure I've missed a few games in my list. Still, it's pretty clear how Idea Factory has decided to bring their whole Otomate initiative to the Switch, seeing it as Vita's "successor" in this specific niche of the market. Hopefully they'll see more success in the future, especially once Animal Crossing brings more women to the console.

Otomate/10

Koei Tecmo

Games already on the system:
- Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 with Power-up Kit (late re-release with additions)
- Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence with Power-up Kit (late re-release with additions)
- Nights of Azure 2 (same-day multiplatform release)
- Champion Special Jockey (re-release)
- Winning Post 8 2017 (late port)

- Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires (late port)
- Nobunaga's Ambition: Taishi (same-day multiplatform release)

- Atelier: The Alchemist of Arland Trilogy (collection of ports, same-day multiplatform release)
- Warriors Orochi 4 (same-day multiplatform release)
- Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition (late re-release)
- Nelke & The Legendary Alchemists: Atelier of the New World (same-day multiplatform release)
- Nobunaga's Ambition: Taishi with Power-up Kit (enhanced version, same-day multiplatform release)
- La Corda d'Oro: Octave (same-day multiplatform release)
- Samurai Warriors 4 DX (complete edition, same-day multiplatform release)
- Harukanaru Toki no Naka De 6 DX (collection of older games)
- Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland (same-day multiplatform release)
- Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet (re-release with additions; same-day multiplatform release)
- Winning Post 9 (same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle (re-release with additions; same-day multiplatform release)

Koei Tecmo has almost fully embraced the system like they've done with Sony consoles for the past few years. "Almost" because both Dynasty Warriors 9 and Dead or Alive 6 aren't on the system, but everything else? Gust, Ruby Party, lots of Musous, strategy games...they're all here, and lots of same-day multiplatform releases.

Level 5

Games already on the system:
- The Snack World: Trejarers Gold (re-release with additional content)
- Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires Conspiracy DX (re-release with additional content)

Upcoming titles:
- Yokai Watch 4 (exclusive)
- Inazuma Eleven Ares (same-day multiplatform game)

Due to the well-known development problems + not enough confidence in the system's sales potential at first, Level 5's been very slow at releasing title for the system (and on all consoles since 2018), but they're coming, especially now that Yokai Watch 4 has an actual release date. Sure, it'd be good if Inazuma Eleven was out of the development hell (they're definitely working on that).

- Steins; Gate Divergencies Assort (compilation of ports)

Upcoming titles:
- Occultic; Nine (later release)
- Anonymous; Code

A much bigger presence than they've ever had on previous Nintendo systems, with several multiplatform releases and ports. Their overall output is almost on par with the other system's lineup, with Is it wrong to pick girls in a dungeon? being the only title not seeing a Switch release (yet).

Tutturu/10

Marvelous

Games already on the system:
- Fate / Extella: The Umbral Star (late re-release with DLCs)
- Senran Kagura: Shinobi Refle (digital-only thing)
- Little Dragon's Cafe (same-day multiplatform release)
- Senran Kagura: Peach Ball (exclusive)
- Fate / Extella: Link (late re-release)

Upcoming titles:
- Rune Factory 4 Special (remaster, exclusive)
- Rune Factory 5 (exclusive)
- Daemon x Machina (exclusive)

Marvelous is one of those publishers which situation has definitely improved in the past months, especially in February with the (welcomed) return of the Rune Factory fanchise. A "mainline" Story of Seasons is still missing, but there's a Doraemon-branded game in the horizon; thus, looking at Marvelous' lineup as a whole, Senran Kagura 7Even is their only title with no Switch release in sight.

Marvelous!/10

Nihon Falcom

Games already on the system:
- YsVIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (late re-release, via NIS)

Upcoming titles:
0

They found their home on Sony systems a long time ago, and they don't seem to want to change things too much, aside from licensing their titles to other publishers for releases on non-Sony systems. YsVIII was a good start on that front, we'll see if there's going to be more.

The usual/10

Nippon Columbia

Games already on the system
- Sumikko Gurashi: Sumikko Park he Youkoso (exclusive)
- Waku Waku Doubutsu (exclusive)
- Sumikko Gurashi: Atsumare! Sumikko Town (exclusive)
- Gesshizu: Gajigaji Nakama wo Sodateyou (exclusive)

Upcoming titles: Sumikko Gurashi: Gakkou Seikatsu Hajimerun Desu (exclusive)

One of the low key more consistent 3DS supportes, and it seems they're playing a similar role on Switch as well. The first Sumikko game saw pretty good sales, while the second game couldn't replicate its success (different genre, that might not be appreciated by its very-young intended audience). It'll be interesting to see if the next Sumikko game (releasing around the spot the 3DS titles used to come out) will obtain to replicate Sumikko Park he Youkoso's success or not.

Cute/10

Nippon Ichi Software

Games already on the system:
- Disgaea 5 Complete (late re-release)
- The Princess Guide (same-day multiplatform release)
- Liar Princess and the Blind Prince (same-day multiplatform release)
- Disgaea 1 Complete (remaster, same-day multiplatform release)
- Closed Nightmare (same-day multiplatform release)
- Yomawari: The Long Night Collection (collection of older games)
- Coven: The Labyrinth of Dusk (re-release)
- Lapis x Labyrinth (same-day multiplatform release)
- Destiny Connect (same-day multiplatform sales disaster)

Upcoming titles:
- Murder Detective: Jack the Ripper (same-day multiplatform release)
- To All of Mankind (same-day multiplatform release)
- Shin Hayarigami 1-2 (collection of ports)

In spite of the weird and dumb outlier that Galleria: Labyrinth of Dusk represent, definitely among the system's strongest supporters, looking at their overall lineup. They've definitely embraced the system, with a never-seen presence on a Nintendo system. Hopefully, they'll get rewarded with more sales successes (see Liar Princess and the Blind Price) and less...well...Destiny Connect.

Dood/10

SEGA

Games already on the system:
- Puyo Puyo Tetris (late re-release)
- Phantasy Star Online 2: Cloud (later cloud-only release)
- Sonic Forces (same-day multiplatform release)
- Shining Resonance Refrain (late re-release)
- Valkyria Chronicles 4 (late release)
- Valkyria Chronicles (late re-release)
- Puyo Puyo eSports (same-day digital release)
- Blade Arcus Rebellion from Shining (same-day multiplatform release)
- SEGA Ages (enhanced ports of retro titles)

Upcoming titles:
- Team Sonic Racing (same-day multiplatform release)
- Tokyo 2020 (same-day multiplatform release)
- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (exclusive)

If we expand the analysis outside of Japan, we should include both Football Manager titles and the SEGA Genesis Collection as well. Still, overall, they're not doing bad at all, with usual mainstay of Nintendo systems and former Sony exclusive titles. Obviously, it's far from full support, due to Yakuza games skipping any non-Sony system (besides later releases on PC) and Shin Sakura Taisen just announced as a PS4 exclusive, but overall not a bad job.

Cube!/10

SNK

Games already on the system:
- SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy (same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Samurai Shodow (later release)

With the recent announcement of Samurai Shodow + the new SS collection, they seem to be adopting the system more and more. https://www.resetera.com/threads/snk-kof-xv-in-development-ue4-planned-for-2020-release.85142/ And looking at this thread, there are high chances KOFXV will make its way onto the Switch as well.

Training/10

Square Enix

Games already on the system:
- Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch (later collection)
- I am Setsuna (later release)
- Minna de Wai Wai! Spelunker (remake of a formerly F2P game)
- Seiken Densetsu Collection (collection of games)
- Dragon Quest X (later release + expansions)
- Lost Sphear (same-day multiplatform release)
- Dragon Quest: Builders (later release)
- Octopath Traveler (exclusive)
- SaGa: Scarlet Grace (later release; same-day multiplatform release)
- The World Ends with You: Final Remix ("enhanced" exclusive version with additional content)
- Dragon Quest Builders 2 (same-day multiplatform release)
- Final Fantasy IX (later re-release)
- Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon: Everybuddy! (remaster; same-day multiplatform release)
- Final Fantasy VII (later re-release)

Upcoming titles:
- Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster (later re-release)
- Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age (later re-release)
- Oninaki (same-day multiplatform release)
- Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition - (enhanced version)

Square Enix is considered one of the strongest supporters of the system for good reasons: the Dragon Quest series, Tokyo RPG Factory titles, re-releases through different series and exclusive titles. Broadness-wise, an actual step up from the 3DS days, where their support was, for the most part, strictly limited to Dragon Quest and Asano team's titles, especially later in its lifespan.

Unbending sword/10

Kadokawa Games

Games already on the system:
- God Wars: Nihon Shinwa Taisen (re-release with additional content; same-day multiplatform release)
- RPG Maker MV Trinity (same-day multiplatform release)
- Root Letter: Last Answer (re-release with additional content; same-day multiplatform release)

Upcoming titles:
- Langrisser I & II (remakes; same-day multiplatform release)

Another publisher that has been slow to make the transition, but that has now adopted the system more and more. This doesn't mean that every Kadokawa game will surely hit the Switch (see LoveR, which is a PS4 exclusive due to the producer's good relationship with Sony), but it's clear how Kadokawa has already released former Sony-only franchises on the console.

Multimedia empire/10

Konami

Games already on the system:
- Super Bomberman R (former exclusive)

Upcoming titles:
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution (enhanced version)
- Jikkyou Power Pro Baseball (exclusive)
- Hyper Sports R (exclusive, unfortunately)
- Konami Classics Collections: Arcade | Contra | Castlevania (collections of ports)

Konami was heralded as the launch hero for the system, thanks to Bomberman's return...and then, silence, for well over a year, with no announcements for the system, and frankly baffling omissions (like Pro Baseball Spirits still releasing on Vita and not on Switch). However, the past few months have showed a marked improvement, especially with Pawapuro coming back to a Nintendo system since Heroes for 3DS back in 2016. It also looks like a more "mainline" effort, with the official Japanese Baseball League license. Will 2019 be the year Pro Evolution Soccer returns on a Nintendo system since Winning Eleven 2014: Aoki Samurai no Chousen?

I'm kind of curious what the long-term consequences of a market like this could be if it continues like this through the next hardware cycle, particularly on the strength of publishers IP.

Continous decline for 3rd party devs while mobile growth. Even though i don't think Jp mobile devs is also doing that well atm considering the heavy competition from China and Korea nowadays.

I can see someone like NISA or XSeed bringing over the game for novelty's sake, provided it runs well.

It looks that price drops for Days Gone are under portas, retailers ordered more than they should. It won't enter bomba bins though, just bigger than usual discounts.

Yeah, I noticed Amazon.co.jp's price discount is now 29%, which is higher than the standard 21% discount for PS4 games.

By the way, any updates on retailers impressions on Switch June releases? Going (again) by Amazon, Mario Maker 2 preorders have definitely increased thanks to the Direct and YW4 is sitting pretty high as well.

Reminder that the original assertion under discussion was "At this rate is a complete business suicide to ignore Switch if you're a japanese developer. "

I really don't think From Software committed business suicide by ignoring the Switch with Sekiro. Nor did Capcom with RE2make/DMC5. Nor did Bandai Namco with Ace Combat 7

Notice that none of those games are PS4 exclusives nor did I make any mention of PS4 exclusivity at all in my arguments. Indeed I personally think that going console exclusive without any sort of monetary recompense (I'm looking you Ryu Ga Gotoku and Atlus or Just SEGA Japan in general I guess) that it's a rather dumb business decision. I would appreciate if you are going to jump into the conversation that you do not build up a straw man argument to attack and instead actually go after what I am saying. Thank you.

Depends if you're going for a mainly Japanese family-friendly audience (to which I would very much agree with your statement) or not.

If your target is a global audience and/or your game isn't family-friendly, then I don't think it would be business suicide to ignore the Switch.
Because switch = family friendly ?

Short answer : you're wrong.

If it's to say that it sells well on switch, maybe. But it most certainly is not the only great idea to bring to the switch if you're a publisher.

Try for a longer answer. Go into depth about why I am wrong. That's what a discussion in a forum is about. In what ways am I wrong? What are the best selling games on the Switch? How have non-family-friendly games by Japanese developers fared on the Switch?

I'm sorry but "you're wrong" is a hilariously inept argument to make.

That would be Breath of the Wild 3, I'd imagine.

Nintendo needs to get into the rhythm of releasing new Zelda games closer to every 3 years instead of the proposed 6.
They will keep taking their sweet time on (3D )Zelda i think, it always been a very special release ,a follow up to BotW needs to surprise people/critics to keep that 97 Meta , meanwhile Xenoblade can become their other open world series

I was about to and saw people already did.
I assumed you would not care anyway.

And I edited my post also, but just by a bit.

Just by naming square enix you're already wrong. Why would I care if you're not even trying : /. I mean, it's ok to be wrong. I certainly was many times in my life too.

Regarding pre-orders for upcoming games.

May is dead for releases, everything is niche.

For PS4 June is also dead, nothing will come close to 100k lifetime sales, Samurai Shodown is its biggest title.

For Switch there several family friendly releases and pre-orders might not give the full picture but for the really big as things look right now:

Yo-kai Watch 4 is heading for another decline, somewhere between 500k and 1m, with 500k more likely.

Super Mario Maker 2 was fully revealed just recently and now accelerates but has everything in favor of it for becoming a (multi) million seller.

I mean, Square Enix has been correct to release family friendly titles on the Switch. Dragon Quest Builders 2, Final Fantasy remasters, Octopath Traveler, the upcoming DQXIS, etc. are all rated between CERO A-C. Yet the non-family-friendly Nier Automata, CERO rated D has avoided the Switch despite being on all other relevant platforms. I wonder why that is.

If Level 5 doesn't create fast a strong new IP the situation won't improve for them. Inazuma Eleven is also one of the same. Yo-kai Watch has done its circle and they were super slow with the transition from 3DS to Switch.

They have Megaton Mushashi, Ushiro and the anniversary game that has yet to be revealed. They must start releasing some games faster or they'll become irrelevant in Japan.

That's unfortunate, though it can still hit 1M eventually. The constant delays did the game no favors
I don't think that's it. I said a few times in this thread before that people here have unrealistic expectations about this game because they compare it to previous entries and that's a bad comparison.

Switch isn't the 3DS, but what matters the most is how Yokai Watch grew because of the anime and multimedia aspects. It declined in a huge way since then, comparing to previous entries is meaningless when a huge chunk of its core demographic (kids) have moved on from the franchise. It's not a franchise like most where you can just keep looking at previous entries sale and HW numbers to estimate where it will fall.

I don't expect 1M at all.
