I thought the octopath team was the bravely team
Team Asano is a small, producer-led team that works with external developers. They worked with Matrix Software for the Final Fantasy III/IV remakes and 4 Heroes of Light, Silicon Studio for Bravely, and Acquire for Octopath. Square Enix has several such teams, mostly rooted in the Enix days where they were more focused on producing and publishing than internal development. Other SE games like Dragon Quest, Star Ocean, and Nier are traditionally developed like this too. Also pretty similar to how Nintendo works with their "2nd party" (I hate that term) studios like Next Level and Grezzo.

So do you have numbers from Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, and Nippon Ichi Software? Is this the White Book?

Any numbers for say, Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition, Atelier Ryza, and Disgaea 5, with full platform comparisons?

Sadly no, I am very much at the mercy of what companies report to CESA and their reporting behavior is all over the place.
Nintendo ist the most consistent, reporting all million sellers.
Phantom Assassin pretty much posted all the worldwide numbers that we got updates for.

Wasn't it Nintendo in March the one that reported the Octopath Traveler numbers.

Yes but Nintendo is only the publisher for the west. In the book it is listed under Square Enix so I guess its from them, but can't be sure.

Like how is it possible that the PS4 version of Nioh is at 2.9m as of the end of 2019 when they announced 3m (including PC sales) sold in February 2020. Are they seperating re-releases like Complete editions and Game of the Year editions?

Yes they are. There are some rare multiplat entries but almost all of those are single platform for the platform specified. But it is all editions combined as far as I know.

Speaking of Multiplat-entries these are the ones Atlus reported this year, but they were pretty much known already:

Persona 5 (PS3 / PS4) - 3.20M
Dragon's Crown (PS3 / PSV) - 1.05M
Catherine (PS3 / 360) - 1.00M

I'm rooting for Kirby: Star Allies to keep edging its way to the million mark in Japan! All depends if that +370k for the year was mainly from the US or not. I doubt the EU market will have been that strong. Sadly, we seem to unfairly overlook Kirby (at least here in the UK, anyway).

Octopath at 1.9M at the end of 2019 and crossed 2 millions mid march. That's pretty solid sales over the course of 2,5 months for a catalogue title.

Great to see DKC still selling, even if it should be selling a lot more ;P
XC2 Definately over 2M by now.

Famitsu had New Leaf selling 48k at retail in 2019 so digital was low. In 2020 it topped weekly 3DS eShop charts many times, we'll see where it will end.

Kondo had announced the new engine is built on PS4 and will get updated for PS5, we knew they won't abandon Sony exclusivity in case this was supposed to be a big surprise for some.

WiiU is not listed anymore in the 2020 report
Double checked with last years book and last shipment for WiiU was 250k in 2016. Nothing since then and now its gone completely.

3DS:

Switch:

It does. Doing multiplats yourself versus licensing out ports years later is a world of difference.

I mean, they licensed out PS4 ports of some of their old PSP games and those still did better than every single one of their licensed Switch games.

All I'm saying is, they have no reason to believe their games would do any better on the Switch. And yet we never fail to see people dunking on them for sticking to what's working.

If you are loyal to Sony of course you have no reason to believe you can find audience somewhere else.

They didn't. All the PS4 Kai games (Cold Steel I-II, Azure, Zero, Ys Celceta) are from Falcom themselves, not licensed out.

Falcom's only licensed PS4 release is Ys Origin, which was digital only. It's getting a physical release this fall finally though alongside a Switch release so that might prove an interesting one to look at.

And I still don't think that makes a difference. A port being late vs. releasing on par with the other versions sure, that's a factor. In-house vs. licensed/outsourced though? I can't think of any occasion where that influenced my purchases, apart from situations where the port is hopelessly broken, which thankfully isn't often the case.

Outsourcing isn't licensing. Marvel didn't outsource Spider-Man, Sega didn't outsource Bayonetta 2, the NFL and John Madden don't outsource that annual cashgrab, etc.

Falcom has zero Switch ports because Falcom has almost zero to do with Switch in general. That's sort of the point of criticism with them.
