Not really related to Japan, but NM3 and WW are charting fairly well in the US eShop from the looks of it?
Abroad, this is only the second Tales of game on Steam in Japan.I can imagine having all those Tales ports on PC have paid off in building an audience for the series on there.
Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, the 400k from Japan + 1.081 million for US/EU are the last known figures I could find as well.
All right, let's take a crack at this regardless:
The chart above takes three figures into account to try and break sales down by region:
1. Worldwide shipment figures (provided by Namco in the case of Symphonia and Vesperia). In the case of Zestiria, I've had to take an educated guess. Taking into account all the other data for the game, I've assumed 1.7 million, which would put it just behind ToD's 1.72 million as the fourth highest-selling Tales game.2. Whatever data is available for Japan, whether it's a last-known shipment figure or retail sales figure from Famitsu.3. Asia sales back-calculated by subtracting Western and Japanese sales from the worldwide sales.
Unsurprisingly, The West™ does account for an increasingly high proportion of sales. Arise will probably show us what all these years of building the brand up outside Japan has amounted to. At this point, it's safe to assume it's going to see very healthy western sales. Asia growth should be interesting to see, too.
(Again, this is just ballpark figures to try and give us a sense of what sort of trends we're seeing. Entirely possible I've missed something in the chart, since I literally threw this together in 20 minutes. Feel free to correct if anybody has updated information.)
"Nintendo of Europe is changing the European trade price of the Nintendo Switch console to retailers," it confirmed.
"More than four and a half years after its first release, Nintendo Switch continues to have strong sales momentum in Europe. After carefully weighing up a variety of factors, including currency exchange rates in Europe and the upcoming launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, we decided that now was the appropriate time to change the European trade price of Nintendo Switch.
"The trade prices of Nintendo Switch Lite and the upcoming Nintendo Switch – OLED Model are not affected. The final price to consumers is determined by retailers. As a guide, we recommend that consumers check with local retailers to find out their prices."
It added: "We made the price change before the launch of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model so that the price differences between each model in Nintendo's own retail channel, My Nintendo Store, would be what Nintendo judges to be appropriate for its own store."
So GEO is saying that Tales of Arise opening is above Resident Evil VIII LTD sales, am I reading it right?

Rumored price cut was a price adjustement specific for Europe based on exchange rate and the alignment with the price of the new OLED model.

Currently, it (Arise) has become the best selling PS title of year 2021.
It does say that. GEO was also massively overstocked with RE8.So GEO is saying that Tales of Arise opening is above Resident Evil VIII LTD sales, am I reading it right?
Uhhh.... MHR you compared to Japan's top selling MH, and were disappointed it did not get there. Ok. But then you go on to compare ToA not to the highest selling Tales in Japan, but just the latest, and if it reaches that "that would be something", and would show that fluctuations in install base don't matter (?)I was guilty of thinking Monster Hunter Rise would be the second coming of Portable 3rd in Japan with digital included. Now matching 4's 4.1 million seems like the safer bet.
On the other hand if Tales of Arise can pull a hat trick and get within striking distance of Berseria that would be something.
At the end of the day both games could show fluctuations in install base don't matter if your audience is dedicated enough.

If you compare ToA to Berseria, you should compare MHR to Generations, and going by that MH saw an explosion on the Switch in Japan.
Ok, got it.I compared Rise to the best-selling MH because of BotW, Smash, ACNH and Momotaro. The hardware sales made it easy for me to entertain that idea.
PlayStation hardware and software sales are in the toilet so I set the bar much lower. So yes it's relative.
The worldwide numbers for Symphonia and Vesperia are rubbish and shouldn't ever be used and/or with a big asterisk mentioning how this is combining sales of original release, ports, and remaster + subsequent ports of said remaster all of that accross a full decade.
Im not saying nintendo partnership is a mistake, but Theres no reason for SMT to consider itself a small franchise after P5s success.
gotta reap those digital marginsStill no sign of restock for Tsukihime on Switch, retailers have been left with the initial shipment.
I'm sure they do if they reach it as fast.I dont know if Namco likes to give PR about shipment numbers soon like that.
Just some rough estimates that could happen for ToA (ship+digital) First Week
excluding PC
350k Asia
125k Europe (UK under 15k)
250k NoA
75k RotW
250k WW PC
So maybe 1mil unless I'm overestimating some of these
Where is this estimate from?
PAL Charts - Week 35, 2021 | Minecraft Switch back at #1, The Medium debuting at #36 and WRC 10 at #40 in UK...and more! Sales
I think every multiplat has sold significantly better on PS5 this year, from Hitman onwards.www.resetera.com
It was estimated as less <6.5k here
If it really does do 1 million that fast, they definitely would I think.I dont know if Namco likes to give PR about shipment numbers soon like that.

was under the idea scarlet nexus did 7k, not 3k.
Uk loves digital even more than I thought, Xbox wise is natural as series x are super rare to come by but still, it's a overall thing.
As we learn and relearn all the time maybe it's best not to judge any game's western sales on UK physical opening sales.
It's cool. I just took a shot in the dark based on how the sales of multiple systems in their first post-GW week compared to the average over the months afterward was frequently not significantly different (at least under normal circumstances) and just went with it. Sometimes the difference is pretty big, so I was fully prepared for the possibility that I could have been off by a good bit more than I was. The average over the past several months being less than 3% different from Week 19 isn't bad.Yes, admittedly, you were right. And I'm sorry for my rudeness before. I didn't account for a potential drop in sales due to the OLED announcement. And it's like you said, the holidays will be the decider.
I did mention that, though it seems like a moot point now that even though the rumored price cut was real, it was Europe-only (unless they have some sort of surprise for NA & Japan).
