well since there's a new thread i'll just post the link of my comparation
![www.resetera.com](https://www.resetera.com/styles/resetera/resetera/images/resetera-brandmark.png?_v=92b3d4c7)
They're both JRPGs. One is a new IP and the other is one of the most beloved entries in Japan. People back then expected a lot for the sales of 7R when it was announced (of course this was before FF became a shadow of its former self in terms of sales.
Of course people can just say that RFA is not a JRPG.
Do they?
There are several JRPGs that have outsold Wii Fit, the best selling fitness game in Japan. Final Fantasy VII is one of them.
Yes they have different target audiences but that really doesn't matter for the focus of the comparison being JRPGs. Final Fantasy is one of the best selling JRPGs, so it's interesting to compare how a brand new JRPG IP does compared to the remake of the crown jewel of FF games. Like how Smash Ultimate has a different audience compared to other fighting games, but was still compared. Granted it last for like five minutes before Ultimate became the best selling fighting game ever.It has rpg elements but its also a fitness game
If some one recommends a fitness game on switch you'll see ring fit recommendation
But if you're recommending a jrpg, I really doubt it would make into many list .
I just feel the audience are totally different, it's like comparing call of duty with fallout 4
Both are first person but both are two separate games altogether
I mean
Fair enough I can get by this point but my orignal point still is why the comparison ? When they are targeting two different audiences
Though as per Nintendo reports they themselves have said higher female audience and families buying ring fit adventures and that was before animal crossing launch.
Animal Crossing also brought in more audience who would also like ring fit adventures
To conclude im not here to downplay ring fit adventures success, I just feel the comparison are weird
![]()
Nintendo talks Ring Fit Adventure success, varied audience, and shortages
From the GoNintendo Archiveswww.gonintendo.com
RPGs are very casual friendly in Japan, and FF is the third most casual RPG series right now (trailing behind Pokemon and DQ), so it's not the weirdest comparison. That said, people are buying very different reasons, Ring Fit for fun workouts at home, and FF7R for the promise of nostalgia with pretty graphics. Why is RFA compared to FF7R anyways?
The audience's for both the games are different.
Games which are fitness related have a wider reach of casual audience interested in them
I mean it has more JRPG elements than that. The only difference really is the control scheme due to the ring.I think the comparison between Ring Fit and FFVII is tongue in cheek.
I know the discussion has been done to death, but the conventional understanding of a JRPG encompasses more elements than a game made in Japan in which you gain experience and level up.
Just as a CRPG is not just any RPG that you can play on a computer.
I mean it has more JRPG elements than that. The only difference really is the control scheme due to the ring.
people aren't allowed to comment on a game flopping in a sales thread? Why are some people in this thread expecting Hajimari to do better than Cold Steel IV? It was always going to be below.
The sales performance of Hajimari is the most obvious thing in the world. It's borderline concern trolling to think otherwise.
you're overthinking it imoTo conclude im not here to downplay ring fit adventures success, I just feel the comparison are weird
Yeah I doubt anyone thinks SE needs to take notes or put fitness into the next FF.
Why are some people in this thread expecting Hajimari to do better than Cold Steel IV? It was always going to be below.
The sales performance of Hajimari is the most obvious thing in the world. It's borderline concern trolling to think otherwise.

I was responding to post 116 implying that Falcom is surprised with the sales performance of Hajimari. That makes zero sense since sales were incredibly predictable from the moment the game was announced.
At this rate it won't survive for the PS5 launch.Code:

These charts really show that it was a great move to add Switch as a SKU. That SKU will soon become the fastest-selling SKU of the last 4 years, ahead even of the very impressive PS4 2018 sales. The legginess that the Switch allows really seems to suit the franchise. And considering the PS4 certainly isn't a Vita in terms of second platform, what you get is noticeable growth. Great play by Konami here.]

I mean, it's more than just adding a Switch sku. They added a new lead sku, which is why the game is doing so well right now (and probably will continue to do well for quite a while with the Switch' legs).Who would have thought that making a Switch SKU would make games sell more.
certainly not Harada
A lot of increases in switch evergreens across the board. Was there something special this week?
I don't think that game had digital sales anywhere near as strong as FFCC's.It will sell closer to Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, after all ;)
Well it might at least not be far away, with the barrier for entry to the top 30 being 2.292
-91% for Kiseki is an even larger drop than usual right?
That kind of drop is usually reserved for games with stock issues or bad reception.
It'd be a Twist if Ring Fit were to beat Pokémon, MK8D, and Splatoon to the 4M line lol. But there's little reason to currently believe that that is in the cards, of course.Race to 4 million...
If the games sold like this every week, they will reach 4 million in:
Smash Bros. - 24 weeks
Ring Fit - 39 weeks
Pokemon Sword/Shield - 40 weeks
Mario Kart - 63 weeks
Splatoon 2 - 65 weeks
AAA kiseki whenYeah, seems odd.
Fwiw, in terms of reception, it's the best game in the series in over a decade. Kinda sad that's not going to be enough to turn the franchise decline around.
Falcom would have to sell the IP to SE for that to happen and even then.
Yeah, seems odd.

Would have been one hell of a jump if that one day lifted the game from 17th to 9th. It may have helped a bit, but I think we need to figure out some more additional explanations. Why not? The game was announced in Japan on the night of the 8th. The tracking period of digital sales includes the entire 9th.
Konami being the most sensible third party publisher is not something I think anyone expectedThese charts really show that it was a great move to add Switch as a SKU.
