Ark and Strange Journey are pleasant surprises.

How does Assassin's Creed generally perform in Japan?

SMT: Strange Journey Redux performed better than I thought It would. Neat.

Splatoon 2, MK8D and Zelda bumps were far smaller than I expected. I'm guessing majority of Switches sold this week were Super Mario Odyssey bundles and people didn't have enough funds to purchase a second game. Wonder if this trend will continue and we would only see substantial rise in evergreen software sales in December.

Mario and Switch to high heaven

Impressive opening for Ark, and a nice opening for SMT

We've seen massive stock jumps in the past aligned with the release of major franchises (e.g., Splatoon 2, Mario Kart). I'm really curious if 100k+ systems will remain the baseline availability throughout the holiday season.

Amazing numbers for Mario and Nintendo!

Also very nice to see everytime with a big release games like Kart (+25%),BOTW (+16%),Splatoon 2 (+36%) getting such a big bump...

A rise in evergreen titles is expected as Odyssey novelty wears out. We have seen WOW increases in Zelda and Mario Kart following Splatoon 2 and the increase Switch weekly sales.

I remember alot of people saying that GTS would heavily outsell Odyssey, I guess those were a tad bit wrong.

Great week overall especially for Nintendo, what will be PS4's next big hit? Monster Hunter?

Great sales for both the Switch and Mario. Now the question will be how the shipments hold up for the Switch over the coming weeks.

Switch is 125K behind 3DS launch aligned, personally I thought this week would be a bit bigger and the gap would be under 100K.
Still 2 million sold according to M-C and Famitsu and some unaccounted units sold via MyNintendoStore, would mean that there is not much of a difference between the two systems at the moment.

As Famitsu spoiled earlier, Switch and Mario Odyssey did great. I'm also specially happy for the numbers that Strange Journey's remake pulled, Atlus was a great supporter of the 3DS and the sales are well deserved.

If anyone needed proof of the franchise fatigue GT is suffering (and the super mild reception among fans) there you have it.

GT used to be Sony's darling but with those kind of sales (and the signs of underperformance in Europe too) I'm worried for the franchise (not that it will disappear but rather that they can no longer phone it in like they did with GTS)

Amazing that SM64 and Galaxy 1 & 2 all sold about exactly a million. Looks like Odyssey's gonna crush that.

GT6 week one: 190k
GT6 week two: 50k

GTS week one: 150k
GTS week two: 17k

I'm guessing that GT PS5 will have single player.

Am I wrong or indeed GTS cratered? But more importantly... why is Japan buying Ark?

You mean for this holiday season, right?

He means internally developed games. Gran Turismo was Sony top franchise in Japan (and worldwide) and was a good seller relatively speaking (huge seller on PS1 and PS2 in fact). Right now, GTS will be lucky to reach GT5 FW (400k). Minna no Golf is another Sony franchise that became irrelevant over time.

I would think this is more because of the shift to multiplayer (+ the bad reviews on amazon I guess lol). I reckon if it's single player focused and called GT7 it'd do better.

More interested to see its massive legs though

Ahh, the numbers in the archive were better for GT6's second week.
