You can still play it. The mod won't get updated is all. Nobody is stopping you from hosting a game on your connection to have your friends join.
This is like an incredibly small microcosm of what the Halo Online Mod reddit was like when the update launched, just reckless spite for the hell of it.Jesus all of the 343 hate in this thread is straight up embarrassing.
I'll never understand why people do this. You know your work is going to be slapped with a cease and desist. I'm honestly surprised Installation 01 was allowed to continue.
Don't do those kind of quotes. It's not as clever as you think it is."either do what i want or let me steal your shit"
you must hate nintendo shutting down all fangames without even having pc versions then
Do you know what Halo Online was?
Do you know it's not actually available unless you download it illegally?
Why not hire the modders and support this while readying up a proper release?

343 already has ex-modders working on their legacy team, they're working on MCC right now and have very openly acknowledged that the community wants a PC release. Why not hire the modders and support this while readying up a proper release?

It will, never, ever, ever reach the impotent rage levels of the halo /vg/ threads. This thread reads like the Halo Online reddit, some of these posts are utterly embarrassing.
Imagine someone taking Fortnite, cutting out the parts they don't like, and treating it like a real game and launching it in a country the game isn't available in.
One thing remains clear – the community really wants more Halo on PC. As we look ahead, we're very excited about the prospects of an official classic Halo experience making its way to PC and we hope to be able to partner with the ElDewrito team and broader mod and content creation community to help inform the types of experiences and features our fans desire

I wasn't trying to be clever I was airing frustrations as a gamer. It's okay I promise Microsoft won't take my advice. The only thing not clever here was your post.
Unless you can give a very good reason for a company not caring about protecting their IPs if they don't release pc versions

People have been expecting that for years, nothing has come of it.
This is like an incredibly small microcosm of what the Halo Online Mod reddit was like when the update launched, just reckless spite for the hell of it.
Doubt it. I have a strong feeling people will still be developing it and distributing it easily. Eldewrito is Open-source AFAIK. That means anyone can change it up.RELAX
Microsoft can't shut this game down. It's P2P. Microsoft can't do crap
What this means is the game will never ever be updated again and the devs will be nowhere to be seen, and you will have a rough time finding a way to download the game.
Lots of "shut down" mods are still played today. Relax.
No I mean the brand "new totally not /hg/" halo online generals that sprung up./hg/ is a lot less embarrassing than what I've seen from HaloGAF/Era/ENT honestly
Oh those lmfao , yeah they're pretty bad.No I mean the brand "new totally not /hg/" halo online generals that sprung up.
So they dont have any bridges left? Are they on an island now? 343 has to be one of the worst ran devs in the business, nothing but problems and excuses coming from them.It was inevitable. Seems pretty petty if this burns bridges with the PC community.
This would have happened with Bungie. How is this their fault? So they dont have any bridges left? Are they on an island now? 343 has to be one of the worst ran devs in the business, nothing but problems and excuses coming from them.

So basically Halo's own Project M-kind of deal.So the only thing it changes is 343 making it clear that they're not okay with people using their IP freely for legal purposes and it not changing the fact that people can still play it and even update it, just not advertise it
what a bunch of dicks
they just merged the threadshow many threads are there on this news? I'm getting confused here

How about inviting the developers of the mod to the studio to discuss the future of Halo on PC? I consider that a bridge. But go ahead and continue complaining. Anyone who thought they'd allow something like this to continue is being naive. So they dont have any bridges left? I'm not complaing about them shutting this down? It's not their IP to keep Dewrito going. How about inviting the developers of the mod to the studio to discuss the future of Halo on PC?
