so in your opinion it's only the lack of multi platform release that's preventing it from outselling World? So if it gets released for PC would you see it outselling world? The point I was trying to make is that a lot of folks outside Japan bought into world as their first monster hunter game and I don't think they truly captured the majority of those first time buyers. Oregano states that the platform choice is ensuring its selling to a Different audience but I don't necessarily think it is for a lot of WW consumers regardless of platform. I'd be really curious to see how well the game would perform on PC in comparison to World
No one on Era has ever thought MHR as a single SKU will sell more than MHW with 3 SKUs. No one.
Is there any possibility both SKUs of MHR will together sell LTD same or better than all three SKUs of MHW? Yes there is imo, if all planets align.
How could this happen? Well:
1. Historically Switch games have better legs
2. Capcom sales on Switch do well
3. If there is a Switch Pro patch when Switch pro comes out and it is significant enough, that might give the game a renewed boost on Switch (combined with the above),
4. PC threshold should be lower for Rise, meaning a potentially larger market on PC for MHR than for MHW
5. Once PC comes out, MHR might possibly gets crossplay and cross save, since Nintendo is more accommodating for these, which should also push additional sales
Will it happen? I would say more likely not, but it is still a real possibility.
Added: By the way, regarding the 80:20 PS4:XB1 proportion, you asked where it was taken from - it was calculated (and slightly rounded in favor of PS4) based on the leaked numbers, 8.7m PS4 and 2.4m Xbox
