I think flash pods could use some kind of nerf, they really trivialize hunting tempered elder dragons. When you have four experienced hunters constantly flashing them and bashing their skulls in, it feels like stomping on defenseless kittens :/
Making flash pods a % chance to flash an elder dragon successfully might bring a little balance, instead of being 100% surefire disable.
Thank you. Truly Incredible. I have some grinding to do for things like mighty and sharp jewels, but will definitely run this build.
I know that gun. A fine weapon indeed. ^.^
I've played SA since Tri and this is probably my favorite version of it, just because they solved the biggest problem with the weapon:
Yeah true but sometimes you just need a few AA spheres instead of using a HA versionThe only problem is that at higher levels you need the Hardened ones, which are like 4x the value of the AAs.
Do it solo. It's impossible to do that mission if you're trusting other people not to die on you.I just hit HR49 and about to hunt you-know-what. I'm scared, guys. Send hugs.
So I hear. I solo'd Vaal Hazak no problem, but routinely failed quests when answering (or summoning) SOS because everyone else would cart, so I got a preview of that. >.>Do it solo. It's impossible to do that mission if you're trusting other people not to die on you.
Seriously what is up with Vaal hitting so hard at random intervals when it looks like it is just turning around? There is no wind up to it, it just seems as though does a 180 to face another direction to attack and majority of the time this does nothing, but randomly just crushes you. It is not the head or tail dragging attack. I have 450+ defense and withstand almost every attack, sometimes multiples, except this. .
I failed the quest my first few times but eventually was able to beat it and become more comfortable fighting the tempered version again, I just took my time and didn't try to get greedy with my attacks. I was using the great sword so I would draw attack retreat then draw attack again, also threw in some shoulder tackle and slash attacks, just made sure to be very patient and wait for the openings. But still, those lightning strikes especially when it's enraged or on it's last legs are killer.I just hit HR49 and about to hunt you-know-what. I'm scared, guys. Send hugs.
Are you looking for a blast build for SnS? You don't really need Zora to make it work. Critical status will not do any extra damage at all, it will only apply extra blast buildup when you crit.
Get yourself a Lumu Tabar III, Dragonking eyepatch, Zorah Hide beta, Zorah Claws beta and Zorah Spine beta, Kirin Leg Guards beta and Masters Charm III. I also use Apothecary Mantle with it for even faster blast build up. I will post blast build for SnS later today. It will give you Critical eye 7, Blast Attack 3, Free Element 3, Critical Boost 3, Weakness Exploit 3, Fortify and Critical Status. Really good and fun set to use. All my sets are end game so a lot of them will be heavy decoration wise but it something you can work towards to or keep it as a reference.
I've noticed this a few times out of the many times I've done this fight. It inexplicably just does an absolute truckload of damage with this simple move. Another one that's hard to predict is a leap it does, long distance across the maps, lightning fast and hits like a truck. Anywho, no big deal, it ads a bit of spice to an otherwise fairly easy fight. Both of these absolutely maul, even you have 450+ armor as you write.
Have you done HR Kirin before? (Non-tempered) You could always practice on him. Because it got more or less the same moveset and patterns, it just hits harder. Only thing I've noticed is tempered Kirin summons three rows of lightning whereas normal summons two. But they're just as easy to dodge.I just hit HR49 and about to hunt you-know-what. I'm scared, guys. Send hugs.
As promised... Gear, augmentations and decorations for hammer builds.
Diablos Shatter II...
Barroth Breaker III...
And a small bonus... Anja Fire Build, I didn't aug it all the way yet but will go with 2x damage aug. Reall ygood against Kirin, Hazak, Barroth and other fire weak monsters. you can even use it against 2 star fire weakness monsters, hits really hard.
Anja Striker III...
Honestly for me it looks cool, I'll forge a weapon based on what it looks like then work with it so I can make it viable to use.One of my friends made this one (This is the Onigashima, right?) and can't seem to get used to it. What do you like about it?

Apart from being one of the best looking LBGs, if you stack the Close Range Attack mod three times the Spread Shot can give you up to 60 damage per shot. Of course that depends on your attack boost skill and weakness exploit skill. One of my friends made this one (This is the Onigashima, right?) and can't seem to get used to it. Thanks so much!!!Yoshichan gratz on the second stone! Very low drop rates and reversion to the mean can be brutal!
Ok Lance pros I crafted the perdition's hand and starting to craft a guard and attack power set. What's the best way to dish out damage. Still seems to take a long time.
With the Lance's ability to stay right in the monster's face you should rarely stop attacking. Your counter/charge attack will also do more damage if it connects.
Utilize your silly running attack on downed monsters if you aren't aiming for a break or at a specific spot. You can oftentimes initiate the running attack and stay in the monsters feet (Raths for example) and will just continue 'running' in place dishing out damage until they stand up.
Anymore I prefer to spam the poke poke charge poke combo on a head or tail instead though.
Once you get the distance of each of your moves down, like the jump triple stab or the hops, you'll have a better time being relentless and stopping only to sharpen.
Rockstedy is both a blessing and a curseDid the Tempered Odog and Vaal Hazak mission, "Summons from below" or something like that. Good ol' Odog gave me more trouble than Vaal did, honestly. Felt pretty good hammering away at the latter. I don't know exactly what caused it to happen, but I switched to Pandemonium's Root for elder dragon hunting and my golfswings now hit for about 290 damage.
I also have the Rocksteady Mantle now. Should prove a huge boon in future hunts. I'm looking at you Black Diablos.
Awesome thanks for the right up. After reading that I think my problem is just my up time on poking the monster in the face. Just need to improve that and my counter strikes. I have a hard time getting counter strikes down.
Bazel stuff looks ugly???? That's the worst opinion I've heard in a while. The lion themed helmet specifically looks sick as hellI feel naked without earplugs and evade extender. Shame the bazel stuff looks so ugly.
That's the kinda quest where I can't trust anyone but myself with. I think I would constantly be stressed for the other hunters to perform welldamn, this game really pushes the team aspect after the story huh? because theirs no way that can be solo'd.
You should check the previous version of it. I think I preferred the older version by just a bit:I love hunting Teostra if only for its theme. So good.
I do sorta dislike you can't capture elder dragons. From what I understand these elder dragons are, in lore terms, very powerful and potentially destructive monsters. Nergigante and Xeno, which attacks on sight, are a good examples of that. But Teostra, Kushala Daora and Vaal Hazak are perfectly happy to chill with you before you bash their heads in and that kind of stings. I'd rather had seen them as hostile to create that "kill or be killed" vibe. Now I feel like a douchebag for killing them when they haven't actually done anything wrong.

All right. Thanks. Maybe I'll grind that a bit and smash out some xeno weapons and armor set.
If you're playing solo, it lets you farm Xeno without waiting for the quest to pop up.
I said this before, but that quest has to be the dumbest quest in the whole game. There's a reason you can get a B rank even if you beat it in 29 mins. Only ways I can imagine it being good are either two players with DBs (they get 6 flashes each) or just spamming wall-run attacks.Jesus Christ, I didn't realize just how fast Azure Rathalos attacks in World until I tried fighting him without Flash Bombs in the Arena (I didn't realize they gave you 3 flash bombs until the end of the quest). Never again. I can't even imagine how fast he will be in G-Rank.
I can also understand why they give you nine carts.I said this before, but that quest has to be the dumbest quest in the whole game.
