The Good Place featured Chidi Ascendant, now able to make immediate decisions. The first featured extended flashbacks of his life, which were good, and the second featured deliberating about what a better afterlife looks like. I think the show writers worked around having to actually come up with a perfect afterlife, by making it so the afterlife had to appease the involved characters.

Glitch Tech's episode was a Castevania parody, and it was fantastic. You could really tell the writers were fans, and even the bits that would seem contrived, like the key to beating the game being a weak random drop, comes straight from Ghosts n' Goblins.

Harley Quinn featured some fun fairy tale enemies. Still not a fan of Ivy and Kite-Man as a couple. With Ivy, people in the chat commented they looked up DeviantArt for inspiration, with Ivy turning giant and then telling Harley it'd be messed up if she ate her now.

Like I mentioned, we're approaching the end of The Good Place, and Harley Quinn season 1.

I had some issues playing YouTube videos in the stream on Firefox, but they worked in another browser and they played for everyone else. Not sure what's going on there.

The MLP recap episode's framing device is pretty fun.

She-Ra featured cat saving and the return of a proper She-Ra transformation. It's a good thing Catra isn't evil anymore, otherwise she's be powerscaled to match She-Ra's upgrade. The episodes were good. Shame it looks like we won't get an explanation of whether Flutterina was a real moth person, or if the moth people knew she wasn't real.

Sailor Moon was a dumb fun episode, and also more sexual than usual, with a slime girl, a girl with a whip, and an outfit that has nipples (or eyes?) printed on.

Your Lie in April featured the main character messing up his performance, but he finally figures out a way to play in his own style. Then we get a minor timeskip, making this now Your Lie in June.

As mentioned, we're taking a break from Your Lie in April for a week, to show 2x My Next Life as a Villainess. Then we'll be showing one of each each week.

I released another fic this week, this time something I wrote two months ago. I was waiting for a cover art commission, but the artist injured their hand. After waiting for them to recover for over a month, I decided to go for a temporary cover rather than waiting more. I'll replace the cover once they're done.

Anyway, I'm very proud of this fic, which goes for a writing style similar to Shakespeare's comedies. It doesn't go full Bard, but it does include a sonnet.

In the deep woods, two fair folk make a contest out of a foolish human who dares trespass in their realm. She proves to be more wily than expected.

I thought the film was alright. Probably not the best film to watch while doing other things like keeping up with the news, since that did make it hard to keep track of who was who at times. This is my first time experiencing anything Little Women.

I was already familiar with the changes this film made from what YouTubers have been saying, and it was interesting to see those in action.

And yes, in the end, they were no longer little girls. They were little women.

This is effectively the end of the main story of The Good Place, but next week, we'll get the final episode, basically an hour long epilogue, going into great detail about everyone's fates. Here, the characters reform the Bad Place, and then go to the REAL Good Place. It turns out it isn't actually that great. Thankfully, they are able to fix things, and it's off to live in paradise.

Glitch Techs was pretty fun, finally showcasing the other glitch techs. Also had one of them put in quarantine. We also saw that Miko's hair is pretty versatile.

Harley Quinn's season finale was more serious than usual. There were some unfortunate similarities with current events, with Joker troops that resemble our current militarized police beating up people in the streets, which did bring things down a bit. There were some unexpected moments, like Scarecrow dying, GOTH Poison Ivy, and things turning into No Man's Land at the end.

Derpibooru has officially stated they support Black Lives Matter, will be protecting BLM images, and will be removing images making fun of it.

PonyFest Online also came out in support of BLM.

A bunch of people on FimFiction called out Jetfire2012 and also promoted Black Lives Matter. There were some losers in the comments, but it was largely supportive. I argued against lots of people in the comments.

Applejack's recap is still the least interesting one.

She-Ra featured a fun villain club seqence where the heroes try to figure out if Pikablu's in the truck or if you have to trade Raichu 50 times or what. Also that often GIF'd moment of Catra sitting in Adora's lap. Second episode featured more cute Catra moments, to establish her dynamic as a good guy. I'm starting to see what people mean about the intro visuals changing, now that characters are moving to different parts as they get brainwashed.

With Sailor Moon R, we skipped the dinosaur episode, and thus reached an episode that featured... bed wetting from Chibiusa. This really weirded people out. There is a neat insert song sequence at the end, though.

Then we started My Next Life as a Villainess. Reactions to the series were pretty positive. Definitely seems like we'll continue it.

Chapter 3

This was a great chapter! Wallflower comes so close to figuring out what's up with the magical girl / witch deal, but Kyubey is a slippery cat thing. I'm really impressed by how you're balancing the Madoka side and the side that's a realistic take on the aftermath of a suicide. The dialogue continues to work well. As someone who's currently feeling sleep deprived, I connect to Sunset here. Great job!

I enjoyed this as a speedfic and it's still good here. You did a good job showing Twilight's fall into suspicion. My one complaint is that the cursed story feels pretty normal. It's a straightforward tale, there aren't any oddities that could push Twilight's mind in certain directions when trying to understand it. That makes it a bit harder to accept that it would drive Twilight mad.

The Many Lives of Stygian

This was a pretty interesting story. I always thought Stygian using remnants of the Pony of Shadows like a stand was a fun visual, but that power turning him into a phoenix (with some help from Philomena) is an unexpected choice. Them traveling where the strings take them and solving problems, then Stygian sacrificing himself to fix as many as he could, is a nice mythical concept. I will say that Equestria is surprisingly stacked with life or death situations, even for this show, including what appears to be multiple ponies with Alicorn Amulets.

1. Your Name

This is my fourth time or so watching Your Name, and it's still a very good movie. The gorgeous art and animation, the soundtrack, the charming story, and the emotional moments all come together. Plus, we had some people who hadn't seen the movie before, and we got their positive reactions. There was confusion about the movie having an anime opening, legit teary eyes at particular moments, everything you'd want. Looking at the significance of the Japanese cultural aspects, I really wonder how the American remake it going to work.

Glitch Techs was a ton of fun, with both bromance and sisterly bonding. Sucks for Hi-5's friend that he lost his memory but Miko's sister keeps hers.

Harley Quinn established the new No Man's Land setting. Things leaned a bit more toward story rather than comedy, which wasn't to the taste of some viewers, as the setting has become depressing, but it was still a fun episode.

Then we got to The Good Place's finale, which is an in-depth look at everyone's afterlife and when they choose to move on. This was actually my first time watching all of it. I watched this before with my parents, but my dad hates Return of the King's epilogue and had me skip ahead after he realized what was going on. This was good, and everyone enjoyed it.

In the end, as Michael says... Keep it sleazy.

We've reached the final FiM Recap episode, with Spike, Starlight, Celestia, and Luna, then a scene after the end of the final episode flashback.

Side note about that What is Australia video, god, was Australia burning really just a few months ago? Seriously, what even is 2020?

So we watched three She-Ra episodes, which demonstrated that characters are way stronger when they're evil. Both with the mind-controlled characters, and with Catra being super-nerfed as a good guy. The action scenes were good, and there were nice gags. Also dad jokes. We also see Shadow Weaver can't help but be a jerk.

Sailor Moon featured Mamoru pretending to have a girlfriend because he's a jerk this season. The guide I'm following listed this as an important episode, but it seems pretty skipable really. Well, whatever. It was a fun enough episode.

My Next Life as a Villainess featured more befriending, but it wasn't quite as interesting as the previous episodes, which I was cognizant of due to one person who hadn't watched the first two episodes being there. However, there were still fun bisexual harem antics and a timeskip. Also a kiss on the neck which manages to feel like one of the lewdest things to happen in the stream, due to the rest of the series holding back in that regard so much.

Next time we'll be finishing She-Ra, Your Lie in April will return, and hopefully we'll get some Pony Life.

Fantastic job with this story! Glad things worked out in the end.

Your frantic and meandering narration does a great job getting us in Rarity's head as she struggles against her immense nerves and self-hatred. It really doesn't help for Rarity's nerves that Twilight is pretty thick when it comes to love. Yes, Rarity was definitely talking about Pinkie Pie that entire time, Twilight.

I was surprised to see that Twilight already knew that Rarity was trans. From how Rarity treated that fact, I figured she kept that a secret from everyone.

1. Artemis Fowl

This is a baffling movie on every level. Even ignoring the differences from the books, the story is weird and lame and simultaneously weirdly low scale and weirdly high scale. Artemis's final line has him declare himself a criminal mastermind, even though that aspect of his character is completely dropped in this adaptation. Also it literally ends with them flying a helicopter into the sunset. I will confirm it's a decent group watch, given someone's there to mention differences.

This week's X-Files episode was more to reestablish the show's normal tone with a slightly humorous episode that also has some thematic connections to next week's episode; the following three are the ones I was really interested in streaming. This episode was less overall comedic than I remembered, but it was still a fine episode.

Both Glitch Techs episodes were a lot of fun, and it's a shame that this is all there is of it. Five even just got a pet, and he can't use him!

Next Thursday, we're going back to Kipo, and in X-Files, we're jumping all the way to season 10 for "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster".

So, Pony Life! Reactions in the stream were fairly positive, or at least not negative. Here were my own thoughts.

Well, it's finally here. There are a lot of things to say about this. I'll start out by saying I thought it was pretty alright, and it grew on me with a second viewing. The first episode felt like the better of the two, but the second wasn't nearly as bad as I heard, and I've seen some people say they even prefer that.

It's weird that this isn't actually 10 minute episodes, but rather 5 minute episodes, each with its own title card, and two-part stories. About the title cards, I think it's neat that they exist. Each Equestria Girls short had its own title card, so I imagine that's what led to this.

They're really chugging down these potions in these episodes, huh? Really gives the impression that Pinkie is a dealer and they're all getting together for casual drug use. It's also odd because I expected the potions to be ways to start plots, but they're pretty incidental instead.

There's more continuity than I expected, with Pinkie participating in the Royal Jelly Juggernaut being brought up in the second story.

It's still too early to note consistent characterization changes, but it looks like Applejack has been recast as the fourth wall breaker. Pinkie doesn't do any of that, to my recollection, but AJ talks to the audience in both stories. Twilight has a bit more of a season one flavor, with her having a "I'm done with this shit" attitude regarding Pinkie in the first story. Rarity has great moments, particularly one I'll post below, but they used the gag of her freaking out and summoning a fainting couch in both episodes. We see very little of Celestia, but she comes off as more capricious than usually shown in FiM. Teen Titans Go made all the characters jerks, and I was concerned that would be the case here, but thankfully Pony Life has avoided that so far. Everyone's legitimately trying to help each other out, and Rainbow even comes off as far less of a jerk in the second story than in most of her FiM focus episodes.

First episode was pretty alright, and had this fantastic moment.

I've seen people bring up the pacing being too fast, but really, FiM was always an oddly slow paced show for the 2010s. Even this is pretty slow paced compared to its contemporaries. Biggest problem with this episode was Fluttershy barely saying anything. There's also unexplained mentions of modern tech, but they haven't really come into play yet.

Second episode had a really really contrived premise, but Rainbow was surprisingly not a jerk in it. If any episode was going to have fart jokes and gross out moments, it was "The Best of the Worst", yet there were none. I suppose that means we won't get any in the rest of the series, so that's good. Also Fluttershy can change her size, unless that's just meant to be a visualization of her meekness vs. assertiveness. Or maybe she had a potion off screen. Dishwater Slog is an inspired name. I like that the ending was Rainbow realizing she doesn't have to play by his rules at all, though really, she shouldn't have in the first place.

Overall, not nearly as, say, fanfic inspiring as normal FiM quite yet, but not a bad series. I found the episodes better on a second viewing.

The She-Ra Swiftwing shorts were pretty fun.

The 80's She-Ra episode was silly and fun, though it didn't really pick up until Skeletor got involved. He really is just a joy. Catra's original voice is absolutely MREOW hilarious. There were some WTF reactions to Skeletor just summoning a skeleton cage, but not really to the old versions of the characters besides Catra. I admire the use of teleportation to save on animation. There's also a certain elegance to all the stock footage use.

And then we reached the finale of the She-Ra reboot. There were some cool action sequences, there were some good emotional payoffs, and it was pretty gay. I feel like there should have been more of an epilogue, though. At least there's pretty decent demand for a movie or another followup. Hopefully Shadow Weaver returns to summon Skeletor and he'll put Hordak in a bone cage.

Sailor Moon featured negging, a fight almost entirely with Sailor Mars acting solo, and one of the enemy leaders down, with Koan turning good and losing her powers. It was a pretty good episode, and had some nice comedic moments like Koan not getting what Tuxedo Mask's deal is.

My Next Life as a Villainess introduced the game's intended heroine, Maria, and it's pretty great seeing Catarina just steal all of the romance scenes from the male characters. One important thing that keeps this all light and fluffy rather than manipulative is that Catarina is acting out of the goodness out of her heart and only realizes she's stealing romance events after the fact. Plus she's too much of an idiot to realize the implications of this.

Lost in today's shuffle, we got a ForgaLorga video!

I felt for a while their stuff was getting stale, but this was a lot better than the past few. It reminded me of one of Agrol's videos in tone, up until Starlight appeared. Favorite bits were Fluttershy's demonstration of how fascinating nature is, and Rarity's new house.

Fantastic job with this! You did a wonderful job showing Pinkie's thoughts through all this. Plus, a positive portrayal of therapy that the character isn't forced to attend by the story and is just attending as a matter of fact! It was great seeing things turn out well for Pinkie in the end.

Stream followup, we watched
1. Strange Frame

I was concerned about the visuals of this from the trailer, but I thought it worked better in the context of the actual film. Plus I looked it up and discovered the animation is actually stop motion with cutouts being moved around, which is interesting. That said, there were a lot of awkward close ups and head on shots. It did have good trippy sequences though.

The beginning of the movie connected a lot to our current events, but by the end it went in another direction, turning into a straightforward story about a rich guy corrupting a band and then a rescue story. Oddly, the story became harder to understand once it reached that point, but it wasn't too bad overall. Definitely far more understandable than other trippy stories.

The story definitely felt like a hodgepodge of different scenes and moments, with major moments early on that showcase things that don't come into play later. One group of characters is mentioned in the opening narration, but they don't actually play a major role.

One thing that stood out to me is that while none of the characters are white in the movie, several are still played by white actors, including Tara Strong. If this movie was bigger, that would definitely receive more scrutiny now.

Response was that the movie was alright in the end, but it was a weird watch.

This stream was really well received, with people calling it great.

First we got one of Darin Morgan's X-Files episodes, from the 2016 reboot. What I love about his episodes is the mix of absurdity with poignancy, which we definitely got here. There were tons of hilarious moments, on point commentary on the absurdity of human life, and Mulder regaining his appreciation for the weird. People also noted that both lead actors aged really well.

Kipo was a great return, advancing the story and establishing fun new side characters. We also got a nice gay moment.

Then with Harley Quinn, we got a lot more of the humor that people thought was missing from the season premiere. I was surprised to see Barbara Gordon properly introduced here, including her taking up the mantle of Batgirl. I hope they don't kill her off. The college jokes were pretty fun.

Overall, probably one of the most solid streams we've had in a while.

There were a bunch of Equestria Girls shorts I hadn't streamed, so here are some. Still more to come. I hadn't streamed the YouTube ones before due to them being on the boring end, but they still went over well. The Dailymotion ones are ones that never went up on YouTube. Oh wait, actually, "Sock It To Me" went on YouTube, but in the form of a 30 minute video.

"Putting Your Hoof Down" is a fun episode, but it really doesn't make much sense. The entire bit with everyone addressing Iron Will as a monster when Fluttershy asks them to call him a minotaur still rubs me the wrong way. I feel like the later seasons would have recognized that as problematic. Also, I don't think the fans ever did anything with Fluttershy's gardener, Mr. Greenhoof.

The Pony Life episodes went over well, though they're still viewed as fun junk food.

Fruits Basket is back! And with more family drama. It was a good episode.

My Next Life as a Villainess featured more of Catarina unintentionally seducing the game protagonist, Maria, including visiting her home and getting her mom to bake with her again. It was a nice fluffy episode, though there wasn't too much comedy.

We had 2x Sailor Moon episodes with the remaining Siren Sisters turning good. Both episodes were a lot of fun. I noticed the first episode seemed particularly low production value, with a lot of cheap looking shots, though I found them charmingly drawn. I was surprised that all the Siren Sisters kept showing up after the turned good. The opening visuals changed, now actually including Chibiusa, and a mysterious sixth Sailor Guardian. Now Chibiusa knows about all the Sailor Guardians, so next time... we'll watch the Sailor Moon R movie that kind of sort of best fits into canon here, apparently.

This was good! I do think Rarity's reason for blowing up felt off, though. Perhaps if there were earlier hints of her feeling suspicious and jealous of Celestia. I was also confused by the time frame. Is the idea that everything after season 3 is not canon to this fic and Twilight moved to Canterlot right after becoming a princess? That aside, you did a good job with the character voices, and the good times of their relationship were cute.

Alright. I admit it's a bit hard to wrap my head around Rarity and Twilight breaking up season 3, having friendly interactions season 4-9, then not talking at all once Twilight moves to Canterlot. The break up happening after Twilight moving to Canterlot would have made a lot more sense.

1. The Lost Boys

This was a pretty fun movie, with a good soundtrack. People in the stream were commenting how tame the movie was for an R-rated one, up until the last thirty minutes.

It really does feel like an 80's kids movie, but with more swearing and then more gore at the end, which makes it feel charming. Also, dogs save the day and none are ever hurt. It was also pretty light on problematic aspects, aside from everyone being white.

I actually hadn't seen this X-Files episode before, but it was well regarded and seemed fun. It was indeed pretty good, though it perhaps could have been tighter at a shorter length. I enjoyed that all the enemy robots were small and cute, and included among their ranks a roomba. Despite it being silly, it does feel like only a slight exaggeration, with how we know apps monitor people and interconnect.

The Kipo episode was good and featured some nice story developments. Plus cheese made by goats. Also, Kipo's arm bands return!

The Harley Quinn episode was good too. There were a lot of great character interactions, including some shipping moments between Ivy and Harley. The Riddler was also a surprising highlight.

And with that, there are no more Equestria Girls shorts we haven't seen.

The Pony Life episodes went over well. One person joked that Pinkie failed the competition due to working with a group, then that turned out to actually be the case. One person commented that Tabitha seems to be having a lot of fun on this show. Also, we added this emote after much demand.

Fruits Basket featured shoujo's weird tendency toward age gaps in romance, which many found odd. The haunted house sequence was great.

We started BNA, and it went over really well. There were cool designs, cool action, good voice acting, and great animation. There were jokes about it being a furry convention, right before it basically did turn into one.

My Next Life as a Villainess had a pretty chill episode. There wasn't really much to say about it.

Then we had the Sailor Moon R movie. The highlights were the redone attack animations and music remixes, and the insert song at the end. Plus using attacks outside of stock animation. The movie is padded, including a weirdly drawn out segment where Chibiusa covers up Usagi's nose and mouth to wake her up. Weirdly, despite the villain being so closely tied to Mamoru, Mamoru himself didn't do much in the story. It was nice to see everyone fight monsters with actual animation, though the final battle in won in a way that feels a bit contrived. There was some grumbling that because this is the 90's the gay alien had to die, but otherwise people liked it.

We watched the Dic dub's insert song for comparison, of course.

1. X-Files - 1104 - The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat
2. Kipo - 203 - The Ballad of Brunchington Beach
3. Harley Quinn - 204 - Thawing Hearts

This X-Files episode is possibly my favorite of the series, due to the way it interrogates what the point of the X-Files is in a post-truth post-Trump society, in a way that the actual myth arc episodes never could. I also appreciate that it firmly cements the crew and the characters as anti-Trump. Plus, it's just a funny episode. The below moment is great for just how legitimately upset Mulder gets at being called deep state.

Reaction was a bit more tempered than I expected, though.

The Kipo episode was good, and featured some great looking animated food, plus a catchy song.

The Harley Quinn episode played Mr. Freeze far straighter than I expected, even keeping Victor and Nora legitimately in love. It was a good episode. Also, I find it interesting how Condiment King went from a fake villain the Joker created in Batman: The Animated Series, to an actual villain that exists.

I seriously tried to fix this but in the end there was nothing I could do without it getting overridden.

Since we watched Hamilton, we of course had to watch the various MLP PMVs and animations based on it. They went over pretty well.

The Pony Life episodes got a mixed reception, mainly due to the second part of the first episode with Fluttershy being mean.

Fruits Basket had some beach fun, some maybe incest, and people still confused what the story of the show actual is.

BNA was another fun episode, though it went heavier than expected in the end.

The Owl House returns! This was a fun episode and it went over well, including with people who hadn't seen it before.

My Next Life as a Villainess serves to remind us that yes, these characters do all have magic abilities, since that doesn't really come up much otherwise. As a note, this is actually an anime-original episode, but it integrates some things that are revealed later, making it feel like it can't be.

The Sailor Moon R episode introduced the next set of episodes, and it indeed had a UFO abduct everyone. The Internet and power cut out in my neighborhood toward the end, alas. People joked that I was abducted too.

This was great! And yeah, like Dreamer said, you can tell this was written by someone who lived this. It was really sweet to see Shining help Twilight with her own doctor visit in the end.

I will say it was a bit odd to see Moondancer working at the hospital when Shining was a teen, since she's usually Twilight's age, but this isn't the show, so not a big deal.

Hey everyone! Pride and Positivity 2020 will wrap up tonight, though if you're working on a story that you think will be done soon but after the deadline, just tell me and I'll still donate when you publish it.

I'm really happy to see so many people participate, with 49 stories in our group. From the start, I accepted stories that weren't specifically written for the event, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people wrote fics specifically for this, including first-time authors and authors who haven't published here for years. Thank you, Monochromatic, for signal boosting this, along with everyone else who nudged authors they knew or just found on the front page to participate.

Between the $20 per fic, Lord Camembert's $10 match, his company's $10 match, and the other donations people have informed me about, we've donated about $1720! And there's still this week's Camambert match and people who haven't given me a charity to donate to yet. Overall, I'd call this a huge success on the donation side.

There was another purpose behind this event, though. Early June, there were reports that a man who attacked Black Lives Matter protestors with a sword was in fact a brony, and a well-known one at that. I made a blog post condemning his actions, but there was a blog post from another user that supported him. Other more well known authors then condemned the sword brony and the blog supporting him, and also took this opportunity to call out the negative aspects of the brony fandom. The comments were a mess, but so many authors speaking out made me hopeful. I started to realize we were at an inflection point and things were going to blow up soon.

With all this happening in Pride Month, I thought it was important to show the people who would be scared by the unsavory side of the fandom acting up that there were plenty of people to support them. That led to the idea of donations for each fic added to this group, to make it so just participating would be helping out in the real world. In the time since, the brony fandom has indeed blown up, more than I would have imagined, but things also feel better. I feel like the side of the fandom opposed to bigotry is winning out. People are choosing to stand up and speak out. I hope the Pride and Positivity event played some small part in making LGBT+ people and allies feel comfortable enough to stay in the fandom and assert their place in it.

Thank you, everyone! Hopefully when we do this next year, we'll be in a better place than we are now.

1. Moana

For most of us, it's been years since we last watched this; one person did watch it recently to test Disney+'s HD streams.

On that note, this is still a gorgeous movie, especially with the water. The story is good, the songs are great, and the characters are enjoyable, oddities with the animal sidekicks aside. This viewing, it was especially apparent how they didn't really explain why the ocean acted when it did, and it did feel overly convenient at times. Still, it's overall a fun movie.

Usually put the stream followup first, but I wanted to note that NCMares, and artist who I once admired, now has art of Aryanne the Nazi Pony on Derpibooru, so that's an unfortunate addition to the pile of brony artists that can fuck off.

Making a separate post about this, but he disavowed the image and took it off Derpibooru. It was an old one that he never finished, after realizing Aryanne wasn't a joke.

1. DC Super Hero Girls - 1-4 - #SweetJustice
2. Kipo - 204 - To Catch a Deathstalker
3. Harley Quinn - 205 - Batman's Back Man

I forgot just how slow paced this first story is, especially compared to the later 15-minute DC Super Hero Girls stories. In particular there's a lengthy training montage combined with Babs getting Diana used to life as a Metropolis teenager. It oddly doesn't do too much character-wise, focusing mainly on Wonder Woman and Batgirl in that regard. However, the episode is a lot of fun, and people enjoyed it. Zatanna -> Rarity/Trixie, Bumblebee -> Fluttershy, and Supergirl -> Rainbow Dash were pretty easy comparisons to make. Supergirl even makes Rainbow-like quotes. She'll directly quote Rainbow next episode, in fact.

Kipo was good, featuring Baby Wolf and Wolf uncomfortable with karaoke. Plus there's an awesome rock ballad.

Harley Quinn was an episode with zero Harley and her supporting cast, instead focusing on Batman, as celebrated by a framing device of two nerds hatewatching Harley Quinn (one wearing a "Release the Snyder Cut" shirt) and getting excited about this. It's pretty interesting to see Batman being presented so pathetically, stubbornly wanting to go out and fight crime even with a broken back. Bane is also presented as an actual serious threat, even if there is still a lot of goofy comedy with him. Batgirl has a good showing here, along with Alfred's amazing superhero identity, Macaroni (as in "stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni").

Next week's Kipo is a two parter, so it'll be half an hour of DC Super Hero Girls, an hour of Kipo, and half an hour of Harley Quinn.

The Pony Life episodes went over pretty well. It was noted that this series actually has tighter continuity than FiM.

Fruits Basket featured Akito bringing the mood down and a dramatic confession from Yuki, so it was good. Still questions about what the story actually is.

BNA was pretty fun, and showed you can never trust pharmaceutical companies.

The Owl House featured ship fuel and some pretty good world building. Also the plush army finally came into play!

My Next Life as a Villainess was a nice dumb episode. It's actually a filler episode, but I think it did a good job fleshing out the actual magic side of the setting. Also it featured a girl pinning another girl to a wall.

The Sailor Moon episode shows that you really should protect the source of your power instead of just leaving it out in the open. Also maybe don't make your UFO blow up if that power source is removed. It was a good episode. Next time, as the preview hypes up, we're getting Sailor Pluto! No one tell her Pluto isn't a planet. (Though really, there is a way to justify her name given later naming conventions for Sailor Guardians)

At last.

The thing that surprised me most about the movie was just how... inept the movie felt from the very beginning. Like no matter your opinion of the source material, it was obvious that the source material was being adapted badly.

Plenty of people have talked about what's bad about the movie. We all agreed they were right. I was surprised to see that people could tell that the big problems were movie problems, and that there were potentially fun things that were being covered up by bad directorial decisions.

That said, no one is interested in checking out the actual play, and the people who kept suggesting this regretted their actions.

The first DC Super Hero Girls was an obvious tribute to "Swarm of the Century", right down to a direct quote, "Time to take out the adorable trash." Both episodes were fun. However, there is some weirdness with the episode placement of the second, since it includes a character who isn't introduced until much later, Aqualad (Garth).

Kipo was a backstory heavy episode, with some big reveals. Also featured a fungus creature and the unexpected return of Mulholland the water bear collective. It also had the grand reveal of Kipo's mega mute form... which Netflix spoils with the cover art of this season.

Harley Quinn unexpectedly had a flashback story to when Harley first met the Joker, and also unexpectedly played it fairly straight. I appreciated that Batman beating up the Joker did not in fact result in any information, while Harleen's methods did work. I also appreciate the restraint in not showing Two Face's origin despite the heavy Harvey Dent presence. Also lots of heavy Harley x Ivy hinting.

This was fantastic! You did a great job capturing the Western mood, and the Western ending of course. Every little detail was interesting, and honestly, I would have been fine if the story was just about them hanging around town; the shootout was a cherry on top. The bits hinting at this being the future of the show's continuity are intriguing too.

The Genuine Nature of Fear

Plenty of ponies had their ideas about what fear was, but most of them were wrong. King Sombra knew what fear was.

This was an interesting look at how Spike's role in Sombra's defeat was emphasized because he was the unexpected one. Both Sombra and the crystal ponies wouldn't have really blinked an eye if Cadance was the one who jumped out of the tower with the Crystal Heart, or Twilight, but Spike falls into the narrative of an unexpected hero. I do admit Sombra becoming afraid of Spike feels like a stretch, even if I could see Sombra dwelling on how he acted and failed to act toward Spike.

The Pony Life episodes went over well enough.

Fruits Basket brought a new horse ~~kick~~ punch GIF to the stream.

The episode was alright, though people are still confused just what Akito's deal is. Also, just one animal form left to see!

BNA featured our second dolphin of the stream. The episode was good. I didn't expect Michuru to figure out how to turn into a human again, especially so soon, or to visit a human town. I vaguely heard about people shipping Michiru with a dolphin girl, so this must be her. The party turned out much better for the characters than I expected, even if they thought putting a dolphin in an air-free water tank against her will was a good idea.

The Owl House was good.

My Next Life as a Villainess was an oddly structured episode, in that it really feels like a recap episode, but it's all new stuff. It also drops the framing device with the maid for the last scenes. Still, it was an enjoyable enough episode. And next up, we're starting the three-part finale!

Sailor Moon R featured the proper introduction of Sailor Pluto. Alas, her anime version is pretty hands off. Still, it was a good episode.

Stream followup, we watched
1. A Whisker Away

This was a cute movie, though the story went all over the place. It could have easily cut out 20 minutes and some ideas and it would have been much more solid.

The concept of the lead girl, Muge, transforming into a cat and spending time with the boy he likes without him knowing, could have been creepy, but they did a good job portraying her just as a stupid middle schooler and having the mask salesman point out what she's doing won't work. Still a bit creepy, though.

All the stuff with people wearing masks to hide their true feelings worked well. Muge was fairly well developed, but the side characters not so much. They got too much focus for them to be fine as one-dimensional, but not enough to really develop them. Similarly, the mask salesman appeared too much in the climax for him being so one-dimensional to work.

The tone was off at times. A big example is when Muge's mom and stepmom argued in a serious scene with no music, and then they slapped each other and goofy music started playing.

The entire ending sequence in the Island of Cats felt like it came out of nowhere and it was undercooked, what with it only being the last 30 minutes. The movie honesty would have been better without it.

Still, there were cute cats and it was a fun movie.

Back to anime on the Thursday stream! You know, when this started out as a Friday stream, it was created specifically to show anime.

Your Life in April had a new opening, which was alright, though the song wasn't as good as the first one. The episode worked well to get back in the swing of things after a long break.

The first DC Super Hero Girls is odd in that the show already has web shorts, and this story feels like it would have worked way better as one of those. Also has a continuity oddity with Barbara already knowing Barry is the Flash when she learns that in a later episode. The second episode was better, though it starts a trend where everyone except the focus girl is pretty incompetent.

The Kipo episode was good, though on the weak end for the season, IMO. The bats really do feel like filler, even if they are useful for Kipo getting her powers under control, and showing that Benson has a history.

Harley Quinn was good and featured some nice moments from Bane, Barbara, and even Commissioner Gordon. There were also some more Batman rogue introductions, with Man-Bat and Zsasz. However, the thing that had most people talking is the ending with Harley and Ivy kissing. I heard that in season one interviews, they were coy about them getting together, and that led me to think it would be season three at earliest before they did anything there, so this was a surprise.

Chapter 4

Damn, a long chapter.

This was a really good one. There's an amazing sense of dread, and the small bits of humor help it from getting too dark. Roast being out of his depth is portrayed amazingly well, especially in how it doesn't make him come off as an idiot. It also goes to show that you should always ask cops if you're being detained and refuse to speak unless you have an attorney, no matter how guilty it makes you look. That's better than having your rights be taken advantage of.

I didn't expect her to just charge up to Luna demanding answers, but it makes perfect sense. Also we now see that Luna is prone to the same screw ups as everyone else, dropping more information than she intended. That was a really charged conversation, and it was handled really well.

So now Celestia knows about Twilight and Rarity, but just that it was a friendship unless she picks up on Luna saying she hopes Rarity finds someone who loves her without judgment. Twilight doesn't know that Celestia knows. Rarity will probably know Celestia knows soon, given what we've been told about how word spreads there.

I forgot to get videos for the stream, so I scrambled. First I looked for Potion and Nova videos, but that was a dry well, so I just showed some stop motion videos.

The Pony Life episodes were received pretty well.

BNA was fun, and felt like Kill la Kill at times with the over the top violence during the baseball games, and the scenery of the shantytown. It's pretty crazy that they just openly allow baseball games with murder. The Bear, or excuse me, Ber team was pretty charming.

The two The Owl House episodes were well received. The waves the latter is making in the fandom wasn't really reflected in the stream, as far as I could tell, though.

With My Next Life as a Villainess, everyone's suspicions about Sirius the red-haired guy were finally vindicated! Though everyone was expecting something like the game pushing back on Catarina's attempts to change her fate, so I imagine some were disappointed about this being an in-game explanation.

Sailor Moon R had a really silly episode with people and chairs being turned into sweets and Tuxedo Mask giving a weird speech that Sailor Moon doesn't get. It was great.

1. Isle of Dogs

It was... well, it was a Wes Anderson movie. Good, but very self indulgent.

There was a bit of confusion because the copy I had was a bit faster than the normal one, and it didn't have subtitles for on-screen text for the most part, but someone watching their own copy was able to explain what the text was.

On the issues of cultural sensitivity, given that Wes was specifically showing things that appealed to him, I thought it was fine. Some critics felt that the decision not to subtitle Japanese speech is othering, but I didn't think that was the case. It was also relevant to the theme of understanding across language barriers. The odd thing was the American girl, though ultimately she wasn't the one who saved the day. I suspect she was added to appease execs who wanted an English-speaking major human character.

Your Lie in April featured the lead character finally figuring out how to play the piano without flailing again, and apparently this will more or less be the last we hear about his mother issues. It was a good episode.

The first DCSHG episode is an odd one in that it uses several characters that aren't properly introduced until later, meaning it's out of order. Still, it's fine in this position. The second properly introduces Lois Lane and Superman. The former is a lot of fun; Clark is portrayed as a bit too much of a meathead for my taste, given that characteristic is used for the male characters a lot. Both episodes were good.

Kipo had some backstory for Scarlemagne, which was pretty interesting, aside from all the sweaty closeups. I do think his turn to madness wasn't handled as well as it could have been, though. Good episode.

Harley Quinn had Harley handle her realization that she likes Ivy in perhaps not the best way. Turns out she's wacky and just kisses people for no reason, as she demonstrates throughout the episode. Darkseid getting involved out of nowhere was unexpected (RIP Mr. Miracle), and it was funny seeing him actually be insightful about Harley's feelings (though he ultimately doesn't really care). Looks like we're getting another story of the gang splitting up.

YouTube theme this time was villains, to celebrate the end of My Next Life as a Villainess season 1.

The Pony Life episodes were well received.

BNA featured Michiru reuniting with her friend, but her friend turns out to be a willing cult leader so that sucks. It was a good episode, though some felt that the friend's betrayal wasn't as emotional as it could have been.

The Owl House confirmed that Disney is willing to be bi now, and the episode was well received.

We finished up My Next Life as a Villainess. There was a bit of padding with every harem member reacting to things, and there were complaints that things were resolved a bit anticlimactically, but it seems people enjoyed the season finale. Highlight for me wasn't all the stuff with dark magic, but Catarina seeing everyone confess that they want to be with her forever, and concluding this is the Friendship Ending. Season 2 will likely be something I watch a bit of to determine its quality first, though, as opposed to instantly airing it.

Then, in Sailor Moon, Mamoru decides to just drop the breakup subplot for an arbitrary reason. Otherwise a good episode. We also see Usagi's non-guardian friends for the first time in forever.

Over the past month or so, I've been helping out with a new site.

So you know FimFiction? Thought about FimFiction but for all fandoms? Heard about Genfic? How about that but (1) it actually bans Nazis and foalcon, and (2) it's actually happening!

Offprint is a modern fiction site, with the breadth of AO3 (plus original fiction) and the functionality of FimFiction. It just launched in its Alpha state, so a lot of functionality is missing and there are a lot of adjustments coming in the future. However, it's open source and you can help out with the site yourself. Account slots are limited during the Alpha, but you can get in by joining the Discord, using the invite at either link. Tons of popular FimFiction authors are already there, including MrNumbers, Monochromatic, garatheauthor, and, well, practically everyone who participated in Pride and Positivity!

I've uploaded all my FimFiction stories there, which you can see in my works page.

But more importantly, I've uploaded my first non-Pony fic in about 14 years there!

Missing Hints is a fanfic for The Owl House! Per my obligation to the fandom, it's Luz x Amity, but I plan to cover other subjects in the future. Plus other fandoms! For now, here's the description.

Amity and her fun human girlfriend, Luz, were able to maintain a relationship for years. However, both are now in college and far away from Eda's portal between dimensions. After learning about Luz's new fanfic, Amity gets it in her head that she's crying out for smooches and rushes to her side. This proves more difficult than she expected.

Story was written before "Enchanting Grom Fright" and doesn't spoil it.

I hope any The Owl House fans reading enjoy it!

Stream followup, we watched
1. Promare

Everyone really enjoyed this, though it did turn out to be gaybaiting rather than explicitly gay. I knew about the main guy looking like Kamina, of course, but there were even more Gurren Lagann tributes than I figured, especially once larger mechs came into play.

The animation was great, though all the effects did make it hard to tell what was happening sometimes; though it was nowhere near as bad as some other things. The CGI was also obvious at times.

The story was wild and fast paced, and went in directions I didn't expect. It also knew when to take breaks, so it didn't feel too hectic.

Alas, due to some oversleeping, there was only one other person in the stream.

Your Lie in April left the competition sphere and instead had a girl lying about a probably fatal illness and a girl trying to figure out her feelings. With Infinity Train and Glitch Techs returning before next week's stream, I planned on stopping Your Lie here for now, but I was told this part of the story resolves next time, so I suppose I'll prioritize Infinity Train first.

These two DC Super Hero Girls episodes notably took place before "#Beeline", with it being the introductions of Livewire, Giganta, and Bumblebee's armor redesign. They were pretty fun.

And then we finished Kipo season 2! It seemed to be going in the direction of reforming Scarlemagne, but he remained evil. I really liked that Kipo didn't mess up in trying to reform him, and there wasn't a liar revealed moment or a misunderstanding that screwed everything up. Instead, the problem was just that Scarlemagne is immoral. There were some major losses: RIP Stabby the deathstalker tail and Benson's backpack. Hopefully Wolf gets another cool weapon next season. Kipo got an upgrade! It'll be interesting to see how things go next season.

I decided to start showing shorts for other series, mainly because there's a ton of DC Super Hero Girls shorts. The shorts were pretty well received.

"Lesson Zero" is still a great episode and, as noted in the stream, extremely giffable.

In Fruits Basket, we got a lot of Akito abuse, and, to some excitement, finally some direction for an overall plot! It's time for Tohru to attack and dethrone God. This was a good set of dramatic episodes.

BNA featured some interesting stuff about the collisions of migratory beastmen and the law, some great midair action sequences, and the fusion of the pharmaceutical company and the cult for double the final threat.

The Owl House was fun, and had an insane amount of blushing.

The Sailor Moon episode was really fun, and I added this GIF to the stream emotes.

There was some confusion about Minako's apparent personality change, but that's more due to the anime downplaying her personality outside of episodes like this. She's supposed to be an enthusiastically helpful idiot, compared to Usagi's more lazy and whiny idiot.

Good chapter.

Glad to see Sunset isn't really going off on her own. I wonder why the witches would target her in particular.
Surprised Wallflower didn't think a witch (or familiar) would stay in an amusement park; she's never heard of the creepy amusement park trope?
I like how you're able to explore situations implied by Madoka Magica but never really explored, like a magical girl refusing to go into a familiar's labyrinth due to the lack of reward.

This was a cute story. Good to see that Equestrian bars are nice friendly places. It's also nice to see an example of RariTwi where they get into fights that result in one rushing off to a bar, but they very obviously still love each other and are willing to make up.

Just got around to reading this. The concept of Twilight and others being LotR style wizards is a lot of fun, but what's even better is the adorable RariTwi interactions. When the necklaces appeared, I found myself mentally figuring out if timing allowed for them to be inspired by TEL's necklaces, though they ended up having a different magical property. I'm amused by the fact that the fireworks explosion is a fairly minor part of the story, given its prominence in the description, but Aragon did write a blog post a while back about how you trick people into reading character pieces by making the synopsis about something exciting.

Great job on this crossover! I didn't expect the giraffe mention in TOH to provide the basis for the story, lol. Everyone's in-character and the worlds are presented well. I appreciate the choice to focus on the Student Six rather than the Mane Six at this point. Things seem to be imbalanced toward the MLP side in the number of characters, though.

So there was a problem with Best in Show, and we'll have to watch it next week.

In the scramble to get it working, which didn't happen during the stream proper, we played a bunch of other stuff. First, to fit the dog theme, we watched the final episode of that classic Dogs vs. Bears anime, Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. I've only seen the first and last episode, so for a quick airing, I figured the crazy last episode would be good.

And yup, it was pretty crazy. An army of dogs fighting a bear, using anime tropes including special attacks. There were some brutal dog deaths, but the wild fight won everyone over. Especially once the protagonist decapitated the bear. There were tons of "wut" reactions to my explanations, including the fact that the final boss bear had two other bear generals.

I made this GIF of Gin's special attack, passed down by his father.

Then we watched three super short episodes of the gay merman anime Merman In My Tub. It was cute. And pretty gay. The tentacle massage was a bit much.

Eventually, we just had to give up on the stream.

Vanna's IRL boyfriend drew sexy art of her OC and people got upset because her Fluttershy reaction videos are child safe. She shows her own face to talk about this and says the complaints went too far when they became about telling her what she was allowed to do. Besides, the art is of her OCs, not Fluttershy or Isabelle. She likes sexy anime girls, and she likes sexy art of her OCs, and that's that.

This set of videos was enough for me to take the plunge and finally just subscribe to her channels.

This stream worked as scheduled.

Your Lie in April featured some emotional piano playing, some struggling to go to the hospital, and some struggling to walk in a pretty well done scene. We're leaving off here, but only for a few weeks, until Infinity Train finishes.

The first DC Super Hero Girls featured Supergirl punching giant robots into space, but having trouble catching up to Catwoman, which was a bit odd. The second had a cute flashback, Robin being a jerk, and Batgirl fighting Poison Ivy to tie into Harley Quinn. Some wondered if Robin here was Damien, but he's likely just going to be Dick but a dick if they reveal who he is.

Infinity Train joins Harley Quinn by having villain protagonists. Watching the episodes streamed here, I noticed that the season really was designed for the first five to all be watched in a chunk as opposed to two at a time. That said, this set of episodes was still good, it was just still setting things up by the end of episode 2.

Harley Quinn surprisingly moved on from the destruction of Gotham with a bachelorette party on Themyscira. I was also surprised to see Nora Fries return (and just come to the party). It was a good episode, and featured Harley and Ivy getting drunk and sleeping together multiple times to Ivy's annoyance each morning. Also, King Shark has a side story parodying The Little Mermaid, which was alright. The bit about him having an open marriage was nice.

This is a nice cute story. It's an interesting premise and it's explored well. It's nice to see that Redcap still made history.

I will say this is the second story I've seen that mentioned Fleetfoot had a speech impediment. I can't say I noticed that in the show itself.

In terms of shorts, we've moved on from the set of DC Super Hero Girl shorts that's entirely Barbara focused.

People generally agreed the first Pony Life episode was weak, but the second was better.

Fruits Basket featured Tohru trying to get some information about the curse and learning her best move is to give them a smile to protect. Then we got a justification for why Kagura's love of Kyo doesn't really count, which feels like a bit of retconning.

BNA was action, and blood, heavy. Also backstory heavy. It was a good one.

The Owl House set up for the season finale and was well-liked, especially the DBZ-like fight.

The first Sailor Moon episode had a lot of animals, but also comedic cat abuse, so I don't think Fluttershy would like it. The second episode revealed Bubble Spray has an attack mode now, which is neat. It was good to get an Ami focus episode, though it didn't go as hard into it as I would have liked.

1. Best in Show

This was a mockumentary style film about a dog show. It was alright overall, but the characters just weren't fun enough to follow outside the absolutely insane couple to really carry a comedy. Heck, if that couple and that one announcer weren't there, I'd hesitate to call this a comedy. The dogs were good, but we saw way too little of them before the show. I will say the movie was more progressive than I expected, in that it had two gay couples and didn't really present them negatively.

Glitch Techs is back! It was a pretty fun episode, hinting at there being some funky stuff going on with Hinobi tech and introducing a potential recurring villain that could have been a friend. Action and animation were as fantastic as ever.

DC Super Hero Girls introduced Steve Trevor and Diana's ruinous crush on him, which is so bad that the other girls were straight up about to murder him if Barbara didn't just transfer him. It was fun.

The other stream viewers admitted that watching all three of these Infinity Train episodes together and ending at 5 was the right choice. Every episode was good and there was a really strong, and tragic, ending.

Then with Harley Quinn, we got a surprise betrayal, Buff Riddler, and Harley forced to team up with the Joker once again. Dr. Psycho wanting to strike out on his own (with the Riddler) was unexpected but made a lot of sense for the character. I figured the Joker would come back, but I was glad they didn't make it a matter of Harley crawling back to him. Also, Cy had a nice (apparent) death. Good episode.

Alas, Pony Life had no GIFs. The episodes were fun, though people were getting antsy for a new story arc. People also noticed an odd consistent ennui among the characters.

Fruits Basket focused entirely on the adults and their relationships. It was kind of eh, and the part at the end with the teacher crying was really awkward (even if that was the intended tone).

BNA revealed that the pharmaceutical company was involved with the cult from the start, and gave an explanation for Michiru and Nazuna's transformations that doesn't feel true at all. It was mainly a story development episode. We did get Nazuna telling off the creepy masked guy, at least.

The Owl House season finale is here! Luz was badass and Belos was a cool villain, but the Lilith stuff was unsatisfying.

With Sailor Moon, first we got KID FIGHTS and then we got the moment where the Sailor Guardians had to finish up all sidequests before they could go with Chibiusa to the future. The episodes were gone.

As a replacement for The Owl House, we're looking at Hilda.

The first three Wallace and Gromit specials! It's been ages since any of us watched these. I myself forgot a lot about what happened, including most of A Close Shave. I even forgot Shaun the sheep was introduced here! In general, the stories were a ton of fun. Gromit was a bit more passive than I remembered. The penguin suddenly pulling out a gun is still the best gag.

The stop motion remains really impressive, even in the first special, with minor details like wood shavings when they use drills.

We weren't able to watch A Matter of Loaf and Death this time. It'll be hard to find a place to fit it in, since Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a full-length movie.

Intriguing first chapter to this mystery. Given, well, recent events, I'm not a huge fan of Guardian Angel being such a big fan of breaking the rules to get the job done, and honestly, Twilight doesn't come off great in that regard either. Twilight felt better once she and Sunset were bouncing off each other. I wonder if Guardian Angel is meant to be Cozy Glow, given how she's tagged, and the similarities in personality. With the mystery, all we know right now is that a bunch of ponies are time traveling. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from there.

Glitch Techs featured some unexpected backstory for Five—including what I think is the first mention of his real name, Hector. Also some backstory for Hinobi, with them being behind the very first video games too. And even their Pong equivalent, ping, is capable of glitching and creating objects in real life. This was a good episode, and had some nice action.

DC Super Hero Girls was a bit of a frustrating episode, though less so than I remembered. Jessica befriends Pamela (Poison Ivy) and they try to save a tree from being destroyed, but then they go into their super forms and fight, with Jessica destroying the tree. I disliked it for seeming to be a centrist view of environmentalism: Jessica's methods aren't doing anything to help, but that's better than actually doing something to save the trees. However, watching it again, it wasn't really saying that. That said, they haven't really revisited environmentalism as far as I've watched.

Infinity Train spent more time going over Tuba's death than I imagine people expected (it was more than I did), and it was handled well. Amelia, the antagonist of season 1 returned; I got the impression some viewers didn't remember her. The episodes were good.

Harley Quinn wasn't ready, so I played a YouTube video. It took less time to get it ready than I expected, so I only had to play one. I like Monstrum, on the PBS Storied channel, since it presents monsters and myths in an entertaining way. People didn't really talk during it, though.

In Harley Quinn, Joker as a suburban dad worked better than I would have expected. I'm glad to see they aren't just making Joker a character that would kill his other self's girlfriend to shock the audience (for now, at least). This was a good episode.

The Pony Life episodes were well received.

Fruits Basket went back to the guy who was introduced back at the start of the season, focusing on Yuuki and the student council, with a bunch of new characters and no Tohru. It didn't seem like people liked the episode that much.

BNA confirmed more that the pharma company is up to some shit. I heard about the thing where beastman diversity causes them to go wild, but I don't know. As presented in the episode, it seemed like some real BS.

We started Hilda. Many of us watched it already, but it's been a bit, and one person had only watched this first episode. It's a nice charming and enjoyable series. And yes, very British.

The two Sailor Moon episodes finally explained what's going on in the future, and that Chibi-Usa is Usagi and Mamoru's child. With everyone in the future addressing her as Small Lady, there was some confusion over whether that was her actual name. It's Usagi Tsukino, like her mother. As it turns out, Prince Demande is an absolute creeper. And so is Wiseman! The episodes were pretty good.

I was curious how the Viz dub would handle Chibi-Usa's evil form, but the episode preview, it turns out they kept the name Black Lady after all. The Dic dub used Wicked Lady. I'd have preferred they changed it too.

I thought I hadn't seen A Matter of Loaf and Death, but as we got to the end, I'm starting to think maybe I had and just forgot. While it's fun story still, it felt a lot weaker than the previous Wallace and Gromit specials, and relied more on pop culture references. The fat jokes also felt out of place.

The Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars special was pretty good and everyone enjoyed it. And despite the opening narration, this is totally canon to Star Wars.

This was a nice sweet story. Of course, as others have mentioned, this could have been expanded a lot. However, I think there's also some truth in Fluttershy realizing right away that this was the wrong thing to do and Twilight realizing she's right. Given this was a speedfic, you got the characters' voices down. Good job!

This was fantastically written, and had a great premise. Twilight and Cadance is a good ship, and open polyamory is perfectly valid for ponies. Your depictions of both time periods were very well done, showing both the passion of the past and the dread of the present. I was able to follow the timeline well enough, but I did get tripped up at one point. Usually it was alternating time periods, but the section break after Flurry told Twilight about Cadance becoming evil led to another section in the same time period, which confused me when I got to the section after that that was clearly in the present. I think the mechanism by which Cadance turned evil could have been explained better, and I'm not sure this was the best place to end the story. Still, this was overall very good.

Glitch Techs was a Five Nights at Freddy's reference, and it was pretty fun, though it leaned into the game parody less than I expected. Only one animatronic attacked and it wasn't the bear. We also saw childhood flashbacks, which was good.

The DC Super Hero Girl episodes were good, with dogs in the latter.

Infinity Train comes to an end, perhaps forever. And if it is the end, people thought it was a good one. People noted that Simon was pretty incel-y, and that death sequence was really gruesome.

Harley Quinn resolved everything with Dr. Psycho and Darkseid, but now they have to deal with Harley and Ivy making out, and Psycho projecting that to everyone. I was amused by Harley's anger at the fact that Clayface is way more powerful when mind controlled than when he was helping her.

Pony Life will be airing on YouTube, rather than Discovery Family like originally advertised. I figured this was what was going on, after Pony Life failed to air in the summer: for whatever reason, the Discovery Family deal fell through.

Though it was clearly already designed for this, with the five-minute short format. Although COVID and YouTube's changes to how recommended videos work for kids videos have pushed kids videos to be 20+ minutes anyway.

The Pony Life episodes were received well enough. Octavio Pie didn't really leave an impact.

The final BNA episodes were like I heard, largely dropping many of the themes of earlier in the series (particularly the stuff about life as a female beastman being difficult) in favor of a bunch of things suddenly being revealed, leading to a big giant animal fight with lasers. The previous episodes made it feel so obvious that the stuff about Michuru and Nazuna being transformed by accident and beastmen turning aggressive when too many species are together was BS, but no, it was all true somehow. Still, it was an entertaining finale.

Hilda had a nice episode. I really enjoyed the story of the giants.

Sailor Moon R featured, well, what's in the titles. The episodes were good, aside from the oddly horny Black Lady transformation. And her name, of course.

1. Children of the Sea

That... was a movie.

The reviews all agree that it's visually amazing, but the story and characters are pretty bad. It's trying to be deep but saying nothing. Also, creepy eyes.

So, did the universe reset or was there time travel or something?

Your Lie in April was pretty good, with some fun character and comedy moments. Also the lead girl falling over and bleeding.

Glitch Techs was fun. Though it was a bit odd that they started talking about Mitch's backstory, but then dropped it. Also more tentacley than I expected from western animation.

Both DC Super Hero Girls episodes were good. First featured Tara Strong talking to herself, and second featured a Zatanna flashback where she did some Twilight Sparkle flashback stuff.

Harley Quinn was the season finale (season 3 confirmed after the stream itself) and it was good. I will say it's odd that a poly relationship never game up, but eh.

Pony Life came to an end, and people seemed to be eh about this set of episodes.

Fruits Basket was another Yuki heavy episode, which explored Rin a bit more but still didn't really say what her deal is.

There were issues with Great Pretender and we had to skip it this week.

Hilda was a fun episode, showing there's strange and magical wonders even in the city. Also jerk kids that throw rocks at birds.

We finished off Sailor Moon R with Wiseman as the final foe. He's really underwhelming compared to the likes of Queen Beryl last season, with his brightest idea for defeating Usagi being to make her think Mamoru and Black Lady are incesting together, which wasn't even true. And in the end, we still didn't learn what was in the lighthouse. I'm complaining here, but it was an enjoyable set of episodes, and there was a good insert song during the final fight.

Since we skipped the recap episode that has previews for Sailor Moon S, I played a different preview to show off the rad Outer Senshi transformation theme, and people seemed into it. And of course, I had to show the "cousins" montage from the old dub.

For Pony Life's replacement, this seems as good an opportunity as any to watch some G1. For Sailor Moon, we'll double up on S for the start, then replace the second slot with Petite Princess Yucie or something else.
