wasnt one of the rumors that the other new switch would replace the main sku?
Basically what everyone is saying. I see some folks trying to push a narrative like people are expecting Xbox One X power when no one in their right mind is expecting that.
There was a bigger gap in specs from the 3ds to new 3ds than there even is in the ps4 to ps4 pro...
Which is exactly what Nintendo would do with a "pro" model. The smaller switch has an extra half hour battery life with an 800mAh smaller battery, we are talking about either an extra hour added on or a smaller casing using the smaller battery and minimal bezels. We are talking about needing a less powerful fan, which would also suggest a significant casing upgrade. A die shrink for something like the Switch can mean a whole lot for it, and it won't just be the old Switch with a small update, its gonna be a paradigm shift in marketing, design, etc. And anyway it looks like there is no need to argue semantics thanks to this tweet:Unless they're bumping the clock speed there's no reason to advertise the new SoC.
Call it Storage, Battery Life, and Quality of Life improvements.
Imagine Eurogamer, which seemed to have piggy backed off WSJ, is probably going to be the least accurate of the bunch
Combined with the reports (also from WSJ) that both the Lite and Pro revisions are in production now, there aren't a whole lot of other possibilities that make sense.

You aren't getting any of that in 2019. Let it goIf we get a new CPU, it would be really exciting. I can imagine an A72 or A73 CPU(which is still like 3 years old). It's going to be a big upgrade from the A57 but still compatible. We should get 2x performance at least easily, especially with a 12 or 16nm.
if it's out this year, a 12nm/16finfet docked mode on handheld should be feasible and maybe we can get up to 750-800 GFLOPs for the GPU in the best case scenario. Trying to keep my hopes low though. Getting a 6GB DDR4x RAM would be amazing too. Ahh don't want to keep my hopes up
But I dunno. It's Nintendo
An updated Switch with a die shrink, longer battery life, more space and fixed JoyCons seems fine to me.
The annoying thing about all of this is that people probably wouldn't even be complaining that much for a pro device if Nintendo allowed all games to run at 460mhz, or at full docked speeds, while in portable mode. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they do when this revision releases.

Oh I don't disagree, I just mean there wouldn't be such a huge demand right now if Nintendo had already taken the initiative on that front. Particularly considering hackers have already been doing it.Eh, I don't know about that. There are a lot of nice features Nintendo could include in a potential Pro model that go well beyond clock speeds. Some people in this thread have mentioned Bluetooth audio for wireless headphones, which would be amazing. OLED panel is another obvious upgrade. Better WiFi adapter, better speakers. Removal of the bezels to expand the screen size would keep the console at the same size.
There's a lot they could do.

I asked him and he quoted his article. Looks like this might be it.
Looks like.
Yes, though we likely won't get 4k output which is a shame since the SoC should be capable of 4k video decoding.
It being an fcc filing for the same ID would indicate that it would literally be the exact same device/name. I don't think they could do that, whilst also marketing and releasing it under a new name like a "S" or "slim".
Yes but even fewer noticeable differences as it appears to not even be a new sku.
Do you think we getting a little upgrade on the performance?

All of that sounds absolutely delish.Eh, I don't know about that. There are a lot of nice features Nintendo could include in a potential Pro model that go well beyond clock speeds. I haven't read through the entire thread but I'm not sure how people are taking this to mean there won't be a performance bump. This is a clear indication that there is a new SoC and a different memory configuration, right? We don't know what that means but that still could be around the boost we thought it would be (anything from 50% higher clocks to docked clocks in handheld mode).
I guess the question now is whether this is a quiet revision or something like a Switch ver. 2.
Since it's an update to the existing filing, I'm not sure it can be shipped/marketed with any changes to the name. Not sure if someone can confirm that though.
Maybe as a fan made name
I don't think so no.
People will have to know since Emily said there will new colors. Even if it's just a simple announcement of new colors. Will this be announced as a new revision, or will they just start shipping them out one day without anyone knowing?
When this Pro business becomes official, i'll fight my wallet to the death depending on how much of an upgrade sounds reasonable to me. If there's even a slight graphical upgrade to my current library or future games..I just want to know when it's safe to buy a Switch. The answer appears to be "Never".
Maybe on accident but not enough to even advertise
Didn't say it was. You guys should read my entire message. I said it would be nice too. But, if we do get a new cou it could be an upgrade from a57.
So how exactly are they going to announce this if Emily is correct and it's at least going to come in two new colors? They'll need to differentiate it somehow.
"We are pleased to announce that we have updated the Nintendo Switch! Now in non-grey colors!"
Cool, if we get a better battery, screen etc im going to be okay :)
