Is it bad that I kinda want this too even though for some reason, I still feel like it's too late to upgrade as an original Switch owner?
Also, you guys excited? Tomorrow could possibly be the Direct announcement since Grubb said his guess was the 13th/14th is when the Direct was happening!

I could absolutely see this happening. I honestly don't put it against Nintendo to do so. Shit, they could possibly do it with Wind Waker/Twilight Princess just to get more copies sold at a faster rate if they wanted to (not saying it's a good thing)
I recommend leaving it 1080p. I've tested games that run 720p, 900p, and 1080p. If you set the Switch to 720p the mClassic adds more sharpening. This doesn't help the 900p/1080p games and for 720p games (I tested Xenoblade 1,2) it doesn't make enough of a difference than just leaving the Switch at 1080p (tbh it's annoying to switch resolutions between games), and for the higher resolution games you want as much detail on screen as possible to improve the upscaling.
Also you might need an EDID emulator to get your mClassic to output 1440p even if you have a 1440p monitor. Otherwise it will cap out at 1080p output. Maybe you might get lucky and your monitor will automatically set to 1440p, it depends. I needed this for my LG CX.

When the botw 2 collectors edition is eventually revealed I have no idea how I'm going to reserve one on Amazon before they sell out, I've been having trouble with this since 2020, since I'm not a US resident that makes things more difficult regarding advice too.

There really is no advice beyond having notifications set for Wario 64 when the time comes. That's almost the only way to be prepared for important preorders for consoles/video games. It's both luck and a lot of refreshing (plus a side of patience lmao)
I don't really know much about the context or about Dramatic Create in general. All I know is that that they have made games for Nintendo.

This is HUGE news to me, thanks so much! I know my TCL tv can support 1440p, but was disappointed when my Switch and mClassic pairing didn't result in that quality. Oddly enough, it was through Game Boy Interface that I learned that 1440p was possible (and not something I just misread). I forced the display resolution to 240p on a GBA game, which when pushed through my Carby resulted in a 1440p signal. Very excited for this EDID emulator to arrive, I can't thank you enough.

Looks like a remaster, not remake. Hopefully they put the qol stuff from 4 into 3 since 4 was much funner to play even though I liked 3's characters more.

I'm actually working on a thread about this thread now. My own opinion? Spring 2024. I think BOTW2/Pikmin 4 at the last big Switch exclusives to end the Switch's life span and Nintendo launches the Switch 2 with the new Mario game and 1-2 other games on the side.
I'm obviously very excited for Pikmin 4 and Tears, but as for the rest of the Direct, meh. It saddens me to see how much Nintendo absolutely adores jrpgs now, which is great if you're into that genre.
What's really bugging me is that of ALL the games on the Wii to update and re-release, they go with yet another Kirby?! Madness

I'm on team this. Skyward sword was a year before Wii U. I think they have some more games to come next year because they're putting Fire Emblem in so early. They could have held it until late summer, and we wouldn't have flinched.
Maybe they meant FE to be holiday, but just couldn't quite swing it and another FE (remake) is coming later in the year like the pokemon games this year.

So here's my thought process regarding the Switch 2 and when it launches: As we know, the Switch has a stacked line up from now to May 12, 2023:
With this lineup, it makes no sense for Nintendo announce the Switch 2 in 2023 whatsoever. I'm sorry, it doesn't. And with this being the case, I think this tells me that 2023 is the last big year for the Switch. The Switch gets it's one last year of killing it and an amazing "send off" with BOTW2, Pikmin 4 and a couple of other exclusives that are either ports like Kirby Return to Dreamland or remakes like Advance Wars 1+2 in the same year. That leaves everyone thinking "huh what's next for Nintendo and the Switch", which gives Nintendo their wide open layup of the grand reveal for the Switch 2 in March 2024 and boom, launches the same year with Metroid Prime 4 as a cross-gen title, a new Mario game finally and one or two smaller titles. Plus, it gives Nintendo the ability to keep pushing launch owners onto the SWOLED with more limited editions like Splatoon 3, Pokemon and probably BOTW2 so everyone is on modern hardware and so they may not feel the need to rush for a Switch 2 which also allows them to keep doing cross-gen titles for the first year two as well. It just makes too much sense IMO.

Nintendo continues to knock it out of the park with their cover arts. The Tears of the Kingdom and the new Kirby game box arts look so colorful and eye catching.
