3DS top screen is 400x240. Bottom screen is 320x240. Both layed out horizontally would be 720x240, which easily fits on the Switch's 1280x720 screen. Of course that would be a little small, so you'd want to blow them up to about 1.5 times that much, 1080x360. Actually you could even make the top screen double size. That works for DS games, but since the top screen of the 3DS has a longer aspect ratio it would be a little too cramped on a single screen, I think.
Yeah, indie games and digital sales make it clear that third parties are benefiting. I suppose I was more curious about retail sales haha.3rd parties have mostly all been outperforming what would be expected. The Switch has been incredibly for software just look at the numbers digital only titles are pushing.
Now let's hope it stays solid hahaCorrect. There were shortages right at the very end of the month / post Christmas. Stock is looking solid now though
I think Pika might have potential based on as you said the movie- but I wouldn't bet on it.I dont think any game will move hardware at this point. not until a hypothetical $99 fire sale come christmas. TecChu wont push the needle much either. it's still a spinoff after all. but I think it can do a couple million worldwide. TPC does have a movie to push with high merchandising potetnial
And they're all Nintendo games. I can understand other publishers ditching the 3DS, but Nintendo's known output for 2018 is head scratching. The 3DS is still making them a lot of money, and yet they barely have any software announced for it in 2018If I remember right, Pokemon, Metroid, and Fire Emblem all still performed well (plus Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter, and Dragon Quest in Japan, albeit the latter two underperformed with respect to expectations), so it was more a matter of there not being enough appealing games than of 3DS games simply not selling.
2.6 Million in December in US, over half a million in Japan sold. It's very likely they have surpassed the WW Wii U numbers in 10 months, ridiculous!
No lie, Nintendo 3DS's peak year in the Americas was its first year.3DS posted its best sales month, and people here are claiming its been dying for the past year, lol
2.6m is all Nintendo devices.2.6 Million in December in US, over half a million in Japan sold. It's very likely they have surpassed the WW Wii U numbers in 10 months, ridiculous!
They may yet announce games for it, I expect one final Zelda game at least. And they're all Nintendo games. How have the third party games been selling? I expect the bulk of the sales come from Nintendo themselves but I imagine third party games are also benefitting from the Switch's surge somewhat?

part of the reason I thought the game was getting remade for the Switch was because of timing with the movie. I was expecting a release within months of each other. a full year between the game and the movie sounds like a lack of synergy, but I guess that's just due to the game being made first, then the movie deal was cut with Legendary.I think Pika might have potential based on as you said the movie- but I wouldn't bet on it.
They were second place both months though?
That would be a nice surprise. It's just a bit strange that we know less about the 3DS lineup than we do the Switch for the first half of the year. They could've thrown us a bone in the mini direct last week. I'm assuming at this point with this alleged direct next month we'll get the full picture on the 3DS. I know lots of people on here just want it to go away, but I'm holding on to mine for the upcoming Atlus games, and some more Nintendo support would just be the icing on the cake. They may yet announce games for it, I expect one final Zelda game at least.
Haha, that's exactly what I'm thinking. Lots of "this should be on the Switch" and "why is Nintendo still supporting this dead platform"We're likely getting a full general Direct within a month. I also expect several 3DS announcements that will upset some people around here.
That's pretty big. Those two regions represented about 50%-55% of total sales as of September 30th, so total sell-through might be 7+ million. That would mean they will have shipped almost 15 million as of the end of the year.I have around 4.08 ML in Q3 between Japan ( MC data ) and USA ( i used 290k in October , 800k* in November and 1.5 ML in December ) .
*Not sure about this one
PS4 December USA sales
December 2013 - 862.000
December 2014 - 1.065.000
December 2015 - 1.582.000
December 2016 - 1.568.000
December 2017 - 1.080.000
Switch first December is awesome. December 2018 is gonna be HUGE.

I'll be happy though
One day when the price point is appropriate all those 3DS owners are going to transition to the Switch.
It was the best hardware they could offer at the time the Switch was developed. It has top notch specs.Incredible numbers. I really do think Nintendo is killing it lately, both with respect to the design and creativity of the Switch itself, right through to this Labo thing, and games like BotW and Odyssey. Kudos to them, they deserve their success.
As a personal thing, my only wish is that they pushed for better hardware specs and offered better pricing. Other than that, they've been delivering. Question is, can they carry this momentum in to 2019, I'm going to go ahead and guess that they can.
they had the highest sales of Gen 8 consoles! They were second place both months though?
Or do they have the highest cumulative sales?
I thought it was mostly agreed that DOOM sold decent for what it was. Didn't completely bomb but didn't sell great like skyrim. I thought for Nov. it was guessed around 80K?I also hope we can get some details on Third Party sales. I expect they have done well but it would be nice to get some details, especially on some specific titles. There were some saying that Doom was a failure and it would be nice to get legit data to show how it actually done.
Japan roughly 25%, US roughly 30%.
PS4 is up YoY in 2017, no?Both down.
PS4 - 1.080.000 VS 1.568.000
XB1 - 1.365.000 VS 1.511.000
PS4 drop is more than expect, was selling at a bigger price than last year, and with XB1 at 189$.
XB1, well, was down YOY for the most time, and by a huge margin, was up in November thanks better promotion than last year + XB1X boost, but now is down YOY again. Not saying XB1 sales are bad, but the trend is not looking good imo.
3DS has yet to hit the $99 mark, too.
Y'all still think 100 million is unlikely? lol
Both down.

I assumed this was a pretty straightforward joke lol, I'm mocking people who were implying the Labo reveal would have a perceivable negative impact on Nintendo's core business.
... it's the same thing.
Well, if it were to, we'd have to wait until the next month to see, since these are December numbers.I assumed this was a pretty straightforward joke lol, I'm mocking people who were implying the Labo reveal would have a perceivable negative impact on Nintendo's core business.
