It isn't so much shallow as it is a more passive, laid-back game (despite the design intentions). Don't get me wrong, it's still good fun and I play a couple hours here and there, but you don't have quite the same agency as you do in a typical racer. How much depth does this game have? I see it's on sale and it definitely looks fun but also a bit shallow. Anyone have some insight?
It's definitely trickier than it looks. You've got four classes of vehicle, each with an offensive and defensive variant, and a good amount of nuance between them. How much depth does this game have? I see it's on sale and it definitely looks fun but also a bit shallow. Anyone have some insight?
I lowered the brightness on my launch PS4 entirely and it looks fine on mine. But any brighter and it looks washed out, yeah.Does the game look quite washed out for anyone else? PS4 Pro here.
HDR on or off, it looks pretty whited out.
Yeah I feel a little left behind playing on the Xbox One.So...is the Xbox update still coming or not?
I played almost every day since launch and I haven't had any problems finding multiplayer sessions so far but it really feels like the Xbox version has been abandoned.
Also...the game has been on sale twice on Playstation. Nothing on Xbox.
Maybe the devs should think of a way to monetize the game and put it in Game Pass.

Definitely worth it for a discount!
'Laid back' wasn't the right phrase. I just mean that despite the e-sport, competitive trappings, you can still succeed by just gunning it, holding down the boost button, and throwing your weight around. Despite each class having its own abilities etc., if you just follow the fundamentals you don't even particularly need to worry much about those intricacies.the game is so much fun, it is also worth full price. there aren´t such games anymore, it´s unique. and it is definitely no "laid back" game in Multiplayer, far from it! you have to be on the lookout for attacks, need to have strategy to knock people off and fulfill the specific gamemode requirements. it can be very tense

None of this to say it isn't fun and involved, it is! Just doesn't quite take the concept as far as it can go and require undying attention, imo.
For clarity all of the dev work is done in tandem on both PS4 & XB1. Both get submitted to 1st parties on the same date, but the fact of the mater is that the certification process on one platform for submissions and releases takes longer.
Pretty damning for someone who hasn't played the game. Heaven forbid the team try something innovative and different. Game's fun. This kind of hurts, as Motorstorm was the series of the generation for me. I have just seen video, but I can clearly see that the weight to the vehicles are lightened significantly. Do correct me if I'm off base here, but that's how it seems to be.
And laps without a fucking finish line, why? You know that would be something people would expect. But then again, how fun would that be if the straight up racing feels bland.
I'm not angry, Evo, just disappointed.
That's good to hear and I kinda expected cert to be the problem. It was just the messaging on twitter that sounded a little weird to me. And as you can see I am not the only one thinking this way ;)For clarity all of the dev work is done in tandem on both PS4 & XB1. We could align the updates by delaying one, but I'd rather not make one group of players wait because of external logistics and processes.
You have to go in with a different mindset than with a traditional racing game. This is not Motorstorm, this is a new take on the competitive racing (combat) genre and I hope more games try out similar things as it's the must fun I had with an arcade-style racer in a long time. Not having to worrying about the finish line is just freeing. This kind of hurts, as Motorstorm was the series of the generation for me. How does the endgame on Switch matches work? I run out of switches but still respawn? It doesn't seem like the number of racers goes down even if I take down cars towards the end.
You seem to have a rosy cozy attitude yourself, dr. irony.Pretty damning for someone who hasn't played the game. Heaven forbid the team try something innovative and different. Game's fun.
I get that, It's just that Motorstorm was a love of mine. How is the weight, though? You have to go in with a different mindset than with a traditional racing game. Yeah it's a bit confusing, they mention you have three switches but after that you can still pick the remaining cars. Is it possible that you acquire switches from enemies when you take down them?

Yup, and each team has a certain amount of collective "switches" to lose before the other team has won.nope, everyone has three lives, you see that on the circle above the vehicles how many are left...if your 3 lives are done, you can still participate in driving and taking lives away but you have already lost yours .-) you must attack those cars where there is a segment of the circle left (they will even tell you: no enemies in front of you if only cars who lost all their lives are in front, then you must let yourself fall back). the difficulty is to attack those who still have lives left!
And I kind of wish there were more opportunities to earn boost, I feel like a lot of times I'm just trundling along with my thumb on the X button but all out of boost.
Yeah, it surprises me how often I don't have enough boost and just feel useless. And even if there are fodder nearby, you actually have to give them a decent nudge because you're going so slowly. Agree with all your points, nearly everything should add to your boost meter just like Burnout did. Every little thing added more boost in that and it was perfect.yep, the game should give boost for driving through the gates, for being in the zone, for every 500 boost spent give something back in Overdrive and for knocking one of the lives away in Switch.... and those "O" symbols should also give a little more boost! sometimes it really takes long to get boost back, even with much jumps in between
zone mode is very very rush dependent, if a team chains the rushes one after another they can get the zones in no time...often it is the driver rushing to the zone the one who is scoring. and sometimes it´s just bullshit when the enemy team is in front and the zones spawn directly beneath them .-)
Yup, and each team has a certain amount of collective "switches" to lose before the other team has won.
I think my least favourite mode at the moment is zone mode, because sometimes it feels like the zone respawns right on top of the opposition team. And I kind of wish there were more opportunities to earn boost, I feel like a lot of times I'm just trundling along with my thumb on the X button but all out of boost.
Meanwhile at Microsoft
Why is this update taking so long?
Why no discount?
Why no free weekend as well?

Having massive network issues since I installed the update.
Try restarting your console. i had massive framerate issues after i installed the last update and rushy suggested i reboot the console since its a known issue with xbox one.Having massive network issues since I installed the update.
Edit: Yeah...multiplayer I completely unplayable for me now. Also the controller rumble randomly turns off.
Nice that this game leverages the Xbox achievement tracker functions.
