It has just been one day, but the interesting strats brought out in both series doesn't make the three week break look too bad. I wonder if OWL would benefit with less games played during the season to allow for more prep. Granted, we are seeing the top teams in the league here preparing for one opponent (and I think a smaller map pool?) for a very long time which could skew results. Smaller sample size doesn't help in choosing who is the best in the league either. But it was refreshing to see such strategic shifts.

My impression is that he feels like the team has hit a peak and that the language barrier is holding them back. I think his pragmatism is reasonable, especially in the context of replacing the entire roster with Koreans. I can see where he's coming from as someone who's bilingual and stronger in one language over the other, though not to the same extent.
This. Probably he got frustrated since shotcalling for the team felt off in the matches bischu wasn't there... I was pretty impressed with how well the team did on KR considering no one was there to translate stuff to void :/

I hope this is just a phase and he manages to overcome the language barrier a lil bit, it seems we might be able to rely on iRemiix for now tho, and that's how far Fissure helped the team stepping up.

That's why I'll say: not like this. Stay with us Fissure ;-;

I am not too versed on London, but I think the players they need to bring in are:

Nenne from XL2 as Tracer/Widow hitscan specialist. He's basically a better version of Birdring, while complimenting the heroes of Profit.

Fissure, just swallow your pride and by him back. I am sure that's something he would want.

I'd take Nenne but would prefer Nanohana. It gives us a lot more options, and he's younger with more chance to grow.

Fissure I'd obviously have but I don't think he'd come back, and he would want to be in a team where he is Main Tank full stop - not a rotational Rein. I can see Seoul really wanting him to be honest. Their tanks have really fallen off.

That statement basically confirms what Slasher said. He is probably on Seoul next season.
Seoul badly needs a lead tank like Fissure, so I think it would be a good move for both parties.

It sounds like Slasher was trying to sensationalize things. Fissure sounded way less dramatic about his views and actions than Slasher implied. From Fissure's point of view, it sounds like he recognizes and accepts that iRemix was the better choice for the team at the moment, and also pointed out that iRemix is not a downgrade from himself. Communication-wise, he is right in that an all-English or all-Korean team would have better comms than a team that has to overcome a language barrier. He also seemed to go out of his way to clarify that he has a SLIGHT preference for unified language on a team, and that he's not saying anything like "I only want to play on an all-Korean team".

Even if Fissure leaves, the work ethic and improvements he made to the team will still be felt. This is the base roster (with a couple of additions) and back in stage 1 you'd never thought their execution of strats and mechanical skill would be this high.

Fissure didn't really improved the team by just being an amazing main tank or hard carrying, he pushed everyone around him to be better, and I feel he knows this and it's why he's saying what he is.

Plus, Glads have Panker on the sister team, I'd bring him up during preseason, work on his synergy and English during preseason and we'd still have a great tank lineup.

I mean... We're all thinking he's Seoul bound.

Unless he stays and changes his play style while been benched for a while.

Hmm, I don't know which seems more likely.

Yeah, its hard for me to not believe Slasher's story. I just don't believe without an attitude issue that IRemix would be a better pick for playoffs over Fissue. Remix did his part well and can definitely serve as main tank in season 2 but he's not Fissure.

Has Remix been scrimming all season with them or only since Fissue decided to take the bench?

Side note: Damn these were not great games. Boston and London being here off of one good stage isn't feeling like a good look. Both teams only gave glimmers of resistance to being rolled. Neither team can leave dive.

I forgot Birdring was not the Tracer player for London.

Nanohana is going to be sought after, I wonder if Jack will fork over the money to a 200k+ contract (my guess). Or big HARD for Sayaplayer.

Another player is Rascal, who is more flexible than Birdring, but I need to see more of his Widow.

I don't see Nanohana being bought. NYXL always seemed very keen on making sure he was on board, even before he hit 18, and Nanohana himself seemed very interested in staying with his own team too.

Rascal has said that he's not really known for his aim, but rather his strategy and leadership skills. So I doubt he'd be a go-to Widow for any team.

Yeah, he got destroyed by Nenne when he was forced to play Widow on contenders

hold the fuck on

i'm so confused. i mean, go LAG and everything, good job against london (as always

but what the fuck is this business with fiss' not playing? how is he not on rein who's very much favoured (or made necessary, anyway) by the meta? how's he not fitting in all of a sudden? i'm utterly confused

If Slasher just put the information he got without putting his personal flair on it, he wouldn't get raked over the coals so often. He changes the information ( I assume ) and then it's not 100% correct.

My take on Slasher is that he's right more than he's wrong. It's important to have journalists in the scene that let people know what's going on in these teams, but it gets tricky when the rumors can affect player's image/prospective outlook in the market for other orgs.

Tbh, Glads should sell Gladiators legion as a core of a new OWL team and make lots of money that way. Them and XL2 actually.

If Fissure leaves they can always tryout another tank, but iRemix looks legit improved.

Fissure is so pissed he called the LAG GM to ask for a statement lol

I don't really think someone actually wanting to leave the team would get this pissed...

But some of his own statement backs up what Slasher said. He said he'd rather have a unifying language and that he wouldn't want the team switched to all Koreans. Everyone seems super pissed anytime Slasher leaks anything.

And unless he's causing issues/maybe just feeling down about the language stuff and not playing his best, I can't imagine IRemix playing the better tank.

That doesn't back slasher up at all. The gulf between saying you think it makes communication better and saying you want to be off the team, is large.

Even if he said that once, doesn't mean he meant it lol could be something he said on a bad day and slasher amped it up

As for the iRemiix part, dude can't have learned nothing for having Fissure on the team, and if Fissure is tilted about something he will peopably be serviceable enough for the london game in particular. For the following games tho, we gotta wait and see :/ Though i hardly believe that's true, doubting iRemiix now won't help the team anyway lol

What's probably the case is that Slasher's comments are hyper exaggerated truths of what happened in Gladiators before playoffs.

As in, Fissure's aggro style required more comms from him than before in the new meta, but due to the language barrier he felt frustrated. From there, he probably had a general discussion with the GM on the validity of having an entire roster of an OWL team to be fluent in 1 shared language, as opposed to a mix, would produce better results.

But if Fissure leaves, I wonder what happens to Void.

I agree. It sounds like Slasher blew Fissure's statements greatly out of proportion and Fissure is rightfully annoyed by it.

Fissure made a couple of perfectly understandable statements:
- he has a language barrier with the team that iRemiix doens't, and he is frustrated by it
- iRemiix is better for the team than he is right now, and Fissure accepts the bench gracefully because it's the best for the team right now
- a team with a unified language has better comms than a team that is using mixed languages. Therefore, him playing on an all-Korean team would be optimal for him because of the lack of a language barrier.
- he did not say anything bad about his team or the players in it, and didn't say anything about him being unhappy on his team and wanting to leave

Slasher blew these things out of proportion and went AHHH FISSURE HATES HIS TEAM BECAUSE OF LANGUAGE ISSUES AND REFUSES TO COOPERATE SO HE'S BEEN DISCIPLINED BY HIS TEAM AND NOW HE'S PISSED AND WANTS TO LEAVE

Anyone would get pissed at someone twisting their words like that.

^^Seems like that's the most realistic scenario.

So now the question is, who is leaking this shit to Slasher?

This amount of detailed specific info can't be possibly be on a discord that he pulls his leaks from.

"detailed specific info"
He probably heard Fissure was unhappy about something, then copy pasted Rascal's story over it because he found the situation similar, if it sticks it sticks, if it doesn't his source was mistaken and people would dismiss it, very low risk situation for slasher

He said fissure was frustrated because the team wasn't taking things seriously and I don't think he could have missed the mark more than that lol

But that would imply that Fissure or someone from Glads, would post somewhere that Fissure himself isn't happy, which again, I doubt either would.

We'll see how Remix develops, but a replacement definitely has to be in order
