UK Entertainment Software Charts - FIFA 21 returns to the top of the table

FIFA 21 takes the top spot in this week's entertainment software charts, with Outriders also debuting strongly at 6

Over a year since it went on sale and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is back at the top of the UK boxed games charts.

The game rose a place in the charts despite a 21% drop in sales week-on-week.

The Nintendo Switch exclusive has now surpassed one million boxed sales in the UK, making it one of just two games released last year to achieve the feat.

The other game is FIFA 21, which this week is at No.2 in the charts after a 34% drop in sales week-on-week. The EA title was last week's best-selling game.

[...]

Recent releases fell down the charts this week. Monster Hunter Rise drops two places to No.6 after a 56% drop in sales week-on-week. Meanwhile, Outriders drops ten places to No.16 after a 74% sales drop. The game is also available on Xbox Games Pass. Digital sales data is not included in these charts.

Animal Crossing continues to amaze sales-wise. Seems like a normal drop for Outriders, sad we dont have digital numbers.

I'm baffled by how well 3D World is performing, I expected it to easily exceed the Wii U version but the legs are sooo solid thus far...

I have a feeling ps5 shipments are going to be rough in the PAL region this month, should be another good month for Switch games.

They could be saving some stock so that they have more available for the launch of RE8, arguably the most meaningful release since the launch of next gen systems (nobody had one when Cyberpunk came out).

Yeah, plus that shipping snafu from when that boat got stuck in the Suez canal. I read somewhere that 80% of shipments to the UK go through that canal. Even just looking at Japan it looks like stock has been going down instead of up these last few weeks.

No German specific source. But PS4 is quite strong here.
Sony shares their digital split every quarter (~70%), and I don't think Nintendo comes close to that.
Also, while Nintendo is dominating physical software charts all around the globe, Sony reports higher full game sales (phys + digit).

So a higher digital share for Sony in Germany as well is quite reasonable to me.

how much do you think the chart would change if digital sales were included?

70% is not the digital share of packaged software. If you want to have an idea at how digital sales compare to retail in another continental EU country:

I am expecting the German digital share to be a bit higher than the French one but when PlayStation games are 70€/80€ digitally, don't expect much.

To be fair, most games are far from that price.

It makes me so incredibly happy. I'm replaying 3D World on Switch for the first time since the original release over seven years ago and I'm amazed how well it holds up. It feels like a brand new game released in 2021. It's so wonderful and I'm thrilled it's finally receiving its due commercially.

Pretty sure Sony's digital split includes their revenue from PS+ and DLC (aka Season Passes for Fortnight/Call of Duty, however GTA Online makes money, FIFA Ultimate Team). It doesn't mean actual game splits are 30/70 physical and digital.

Just so impressed with how well Nintendo do from their own software. It's no wonder they're the most profitable of the platform holders

Sony is looking to ship about 340 million units of sw on PS4 and PS5 this past FY. Nintendo forecasts about 205 million for the FY. Nowadays Sony does include digital only games but back when they didn't they were around 10% of the total sw shipments so there is still sizable gap. Considering how almost every retail chart is so Switch heavy (not to mention Japan) that must mean that PS still has considerably higher digital split for sw globally. I mean obviously there are other factors too like PS sw being more frontloaded than Switch sw and is split between larger amount of games.

Switcherland indeed.
Some eu countries are trying to outperform Japan when it comes to Switch titles in the charts lol.
