Well, he said in a moment of rage. It was very wrong for him to say it but in this instance, since it was sudden and careless, it's called a slip-up.
I'm not particulary good at english but I do know that at least. I wasn't saying that it was something minor, that's not what I meant at all.
bruh, no. i had this conversation with my mom when i was a literal kid. when i was angry or whatever i would sometimes yell out swear words, and she would berate me for it. "but mooooom, it was an emotional moment, of course you'll slip up and say bad words when you're angry!". she was having none of it. she told me that words don't naturally come to you even in emotional moments unless they're part of your everyday vocabulary. and she was right, of course; i DID use those words every day, with my friends when she wasn't around to hear it. it's the same thing here. i've had as many hEaTeD gAmEr MoMeNtS as any of these chuds, and i've never said a slur because of them. plenty of "fucks" and "damn its", of course, because those words are part of my every day vocabulary, but racial slurs? nah. who knows what pewdiepie says in private, if the n-word comes so easily to him.

if literal child me could understand the concept, i'm sure you can too.

Hello. This won't be an attack. If you are posting honestly (and it is getting really hard to tell who is and who isn't) you should know that the "Just asking questions" is right out of the troll handbook.

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Just_asking_questions

So even if you really are just wanting someone to educate you on the matter, people will naturally be suspicious. This is an issue many people are very passionate about and if you are not familiar with why people are so offended you probably should do some research before downplaying the statements or asking people to explain why they are offended.

Thanks about that, I didn't know about that.
I'm just gonna go now.
Again, sorry everyone, never wanted to make anyone mad.

So capitalism is broken and I understand why PewDiePie has a channel YouTube continues to allow to exist. Because it apparently makes them money.

But why is a literally Nazi channel like the one he linked allowed to exist? Surely that can't be a money maker. Surely no advertiser will willingly be associated with it. It's clearly hate speech.

Because nowadays you aren't a nazi unless you had partecipated in the WW 2 holocaust.

Any other thing fall under "freedom of speech"

I don't know if this is an intentional downplaying tactic, but I think what you're posting amounts to trying to do everything to rationalize their comments and actions other than correctly calling them out as fascists.
PDP is a fascist, who also happens to be young and rich.

Notch is a fascist, who also happens to be lonely and rich.

I'll use this post to simply agree with you. My post could definitely be seen as a downplaying tactic.

Youtube is run by oblivious tech liberals who do not see nazism as a problem because 1) they're not affected by it, and 2) it generates money for them.

There's also the topic of how capitalists love fascists, but that's another topic of discussion.

Question: have any prominent YouTubers that were rallying people to subscribe to PewDiePie (one called it a CULTURE WAR) spoken up about this? Or do they only speak up when brown people are about to pass the golden nazi boy on the subscribers' list?

The reason why this is happening is because YouTube and Google prides itself in being the place for 'free speech video content' on the web. They want to position themselves from regular cable TV as much as possible, and I feel that them allowing for PewdiePie to still explains.

Cable TV networks would have canned this man a very long time ago.

This. I unsubscribed from many Youtubers thanks to this bullshit. Watch Markiplier and Jackscepiteye say nothing about this. Fuck them.

Forwarded the article to my daughters. Pretty sure neither of them follow him, and I know for a fact that they're not horrible people, but I still wanted to open their eyes to be critical of these people where necessary.

For all of the many faults of the organisation of celebrity down the years (and there are many, as is becoming more and more clear with time) I still feel like it provided a check to protect people from hateful shit like this.

E;R getting a windfall of 15000 subscribers is the scariest part. PDP quite possibly bolstered the alt-right by multiple thousands with one video.

This works for the average joe bigot, but guys like Notch and PDP have fuck you amounts of money.

They're under pressure from no one and nothing.

That's not how greed works, though. There is no amount of money that is "enough". Rich people are always going to protect their money, no matter if they can't possibly spend it in their lifetimes and could be used to fight world starvation.

It can pretty much be explained by a single word: Trump.

This is a superficial explanation for the rise of fascism across the world. I implore you to seek out articles and books that account for the many ways that countries are turning towards fascism. Much of it can be traced to the historical roots of colonialism and white supremacy, along with the current crises of capitalism. It's not simply Trump, it's the historical and the material conditions we live in that propagate the rise of fascism. Until capitalism, imperialism, and white supremacist patriarchy are stamped out, fascism will return - it is simply capitalism in decay.

People forgot that Hitler was a regular human being who had horrible views before he became a leader and owned an army.

Any of these guys, if given a chance, would serve someone like Hitler or go on to build one if given the resources. This is why it's important to point them now before that happens. Gamers who think this is ok don't realised the possibile repercussions.

I haven't watched the channel that's recommended by PDP but does anyone know which country the guy's from? If they have hate speech laws someone should call the authorities.

You're talking about the distal causes, while I'm talking about the proximate cause. Trump is, of course, a consequence of the rise of fascism and unbridled capitalism in the world. But it is the highly visibility of Trump that enables many Americans to be openly racist and even warm up to Nazism. Trump being elected caused a massive shift to the right on the Overton window.

We cannot change the historical causes for fascism (even though studying them is important to better understand it). We can, however, fight against the proximate causes that enable it now.

Fucking yep.

And it does this shit regularly. When I watch any kind of political videos on youtube, it's always left wing stuff, but I constantly get recommendations about some of the most vile right wing bullshit. It's like it stops for a month or two, and then fires back up, and I believe it's being done on purpose.

I was watching Chapo videos for awhile, and because one of them had the words "Jordan Peterson" in it... Well, you know the rest.

Fuck Youtube.

It's almost like those accounts purposely try to game the algorithm and create alt after alt to ensure that only their content is what shows up.

Same here. I click "not interested" on all the ones I see and I still get them. Meanwhile, left wing videos are nowhere to be found. Same thing happens if you click on anything gaming related.

Not interested just hides them. You have to click on why you don't wanna see it, ie: "I don't want to see this channel."

Try being. A battlefield v fan. Click on one trailer and nothing but "ugh, sjws!" :/

The only people I've ever heard use the n-word in "a moment of rage" are people who I've also heard use the n-word casually.

Like, that's not how language works. You don't just form a new schema on the spot and suddenly come up with the n-word as your expletive in that moment, previous connections have to be made.

It can pretty much be explained by a single word: Trump.

I think this is right in part, but extremist Trump supporters were around before Trump was elected, and the forces that precipitated the larger neo-Nazi/nationalist/racist movement in the US is grounded in a lot of misery going back as far as the Civil War. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but capitalism has a lot to do with fascism too.

Anyway, Trump has definitely amplified the problem and there's no doubt more racists and violent nationalists feel empowered in the wake of his election.

The problem with capitalism is human greed so eliminating capitalism won't solve anything. People will find ways to abuse a socialist system and they have in the past.

So being lazy about the usage of the label "Nazi" enables them. It's funny, then, that these exact same people deliberately came up with a new name, "alt-right" to for the purpose of distancing them from the Nazi label.

I should start calling everyone alt-left. Everyone will be a communist in about a week.
