Wait. No wild battles? I'm confused. They showed catching Pokémon in the trailer.
This not a mainline game, it's a spin off as the gameplay mechanic is drastically different than compare to the main series, for starter you can't battle wild Pokémon.

Turn more pokemon into candyOkay then how do I train my pokemon for competitive iv's and ev's if there are no wild battles whatsoever? How will an online battle work if we cant fight in the actual game besides trainers?
There's no wild battles...
it looks really good, very similar to what I was expecting
Yeah those dirty cheaters taking the time to raise a competitive pokemon! It's good that there is no breeding because it just leads to people cheating anyway.
I think Pokemon will be dead until 2019... this just sounds extremely watered down. It has a beautiful premise but no features from a 2018 game should be lacking online play. This is absolutely dumb. Emily was right when she said we'd react with hostility.
Theyre out in plain view in the overworld, and after encountering them, you catch them Go-style without a battle. Battles are reserved for trainers.Wait. No wild battles? I'm confused. They showed catching Pokémon in the trailer.
There's no way to be competitive using just the original 151. I doubt this game even has breeding.Okay then how do I train my pokemon for competitive iv's and ev's if there are no wild battles whatsoever? How will an online battle work if we cant fight in the actual game besides trainers?
It's a normal Pokémon game in every single sense other than the capture mechanic.
You people are all insane.
But it is not a portable game?Hey, game developers, forced motion controls in a portable game sucks ass
There's no wild battles...
How are we even going to train our Pokemon? I wouldn't be surprised if there's no battle items, etc.
This is why I hate this "live blogging news", so much half truths throw around and everyone goes in fire for no reasonI think the "no online" bit from earlier was a misunderstanding, and was only referring to co-op (exploring the world together, etc.) being restricted to local multiplayer.
I mean there's no wild battles, you just chuck pokeballs so it's not really just an extra feature, it's Pokemon go ported to kanto
This seems like a smart move. By returning to the beginning of the series you can introduce players who have never been into mainline Pokemon without forcing them to catch up with two decades worth of games. Plus, the Pokemon Go integration serves as a great way to get people who have only played Go interested in playing a true Pokemon game.
I say this as someone who only played Go and am now interested in playing this.
You don't, this is the best timeline. Competitive Pokemon is worst Pokemon.
Catching 'em all > Being the very best (like no one ever was).
It's not, but you do you I guessIt's good that there is no breeding because it just leads to people cheating anyway.
The game will be balanced and designed around that change, crazy I know. There's no wild battles...

After 1 trailer you want to decide if the game is worth 60 dollars or not? This game does not deserve the $60 price tag. It should be $40 at MOST, especially since the gen 8 games for sure
will also be $60 and those will have more content.
So is it a full Pokemon RPG or Pokemon Go extension or a mix between both like a cut down RPG?
Getting Wii U vibes of not understanding what they are selling here.
It's basically an improvement on the formula from Pokemon Colosseum/XD.Theyre out in plain view in the overworld, and after encountering them, you catch them Go-style without a battle. Battles are reserved for trainers.
Soooo am I the only who thinks it's great that random battles are gone and I can actually pick which pokemon I wanna engage with? This thread clearly scream "I don't want change >:("
Yeah those dirty cheaters taking the time to raise a competitive pokemon!
I have two theories for what's going to happen after these games:
1) Pokemon Let's Go will become a remake series, remaking the older games with Go integration. Mainline series will feature more evolved graphics and mechanics.
2) Gen 8 will swap from two nearly identical versions, to having a more mainline version with more RPG-esque mechanics, and a Let's Go version designed more for Pokemon Go.
That being said, now that online is confirmed, this game is doing all the right things for me. It looks great.
From the reactions here you'd think that the dislike ratio would be higher lol. Good to see an overall positive reception. No doubt the promise of an actual Pokémon game has remedied it significantly.
Fucking hell. Does the game have online or not!?https://www.pscp.tv/w/1rmxPmoBNZbKN
about 8 minutes in, he says "we dont have any plans utilizing the online service as of now"
