The one thing throwing off the number is Gigantimax. My head is saying there's 10-15 of them, but I don't know if those eat into Galarians.

All in all though, when we use the full number of new mons, it has to be a combined total of brand new, galarians and gigantimax.

Which makes me think we will get about 70-80 new mons, 15-20 Galaram Forms and 10 Gigantimaxs

I'm kind of mad at the Affleck leak for spoiling Sirfetch'd.
Imagine the hype if nobody knew about it beforehand. Their tiny, stupid, 30 seconds trailer would have been amazing.

Yeah. People wouldn't have settled on a Farfetch'd evolution for the glitch Pokémon at all whereas here, because Sirfetch'd leaked, people went straight for it.

Buzzwole is my number 1 favorite creation from him. Though it's nice he confirmed that its eyes are not those tiny black orbs connected to its antenna like some artists depict.

Even better if they had done this glitch thing before the Galarian form reveal trailer, where practically no one would've been expecting a cross-gen evo.

Edit: Also I doub't they'd introduce Gigantamax with as few as 10 of them. We had 28-30 Mega Evolutions in X/Y, so I expect at least 20 Gigantamax forms. Admittedly it's Dynamax itself that's the main feature and Gigantamax is more of a byproduct of it, but still.

We don't know if he did Sirfetch'd, he's just the Art Director, so he's the one who pulls all the concepts other designers have on the team together under some concept theme. I actually get the feeling some original designer did Sirfetch'd or there was heavy influence from one of them or even Sugimori. It looks like they were extremely careful with him, while some evolution look botch'd like Rhyperior and Electivire imo. Some people don't like him because he is close to the original, but there are MANY gen 1 pokemon who don't stray to much from their original form. Clefairy to Clefable, Kadabra to Alakazam isn't that extreme either.

I was getting Shield for Tyranitar alone - oh and the weird ghost gym leader. I'm now getting Sword. Sirfetch'd and Sif in the same game? Assembling an entire Dark Souls squad.

Yeah. Like, this is the thread for the actual news, and the other one is for the announcement of the news. That one should be obsolete.

Also, I hope we see more Ultra Beasts in the future. Doesn't have to be this generation, but maybe a future generation.

Considering that he only saw like, half of the game, we might get some surprises.

We literally don't have any shield exclusive new pokemon besides the version legendary. Sirfetch'd is also the first Sword exclusive new pokemon. The fact we're two months away from release and just now seeing them, and only one of them, is really frustrating tbh.

Duraludon is said to fight with Tyranitar so is it Shield-exclusive so it can actually interact with it's rival?

Pretty disappointed by this reveal.

While I like Sirfetch'd's design, Fighting Type with Steadfast likely means it's pretty much useless. And Meteor Assault requiring a turn to recover also makes it likely won't see any play.

And, finally, I just don't understand why they'd tease a single Pokemon for a full week. I kind of assumed that they'd have more to the video that literally just Sirfetch'd, because none of the other updates have been this skimpy. I really don't understand their media strategy.

While I don't want them to spoil the game completely like they did with Sun and Moon, I'd like more than we're getting.

A pokemon a week leading to release, with a few more "big" videos for more features wouldn't be terrible. & it would be pretty weird to do this once, for a single Pokemon, during the entire pre-release period. Maybe not the same "glitch" method but end a week with some tease and reveal it the following week.

I always thought it would've been cool if they adopted a Smash Blog style to it.

Like a picture each day showing something typically minor (like oh here's a Trainer Class, here's the name of a town, here's a returning Pokemon) with a new Pokemon reveal occasionally.

I don't think it would be weird if they do this only for Sirfetch'd. Probably if there's a counterpart Shield exclusive, they'll reveal it in a different way, like just straight out of nowhere without a teasing, or along with a longer video that shows other stuff.

I keep saying this, the only thing we know for sure with GF/TPC or whoever is in charge of everything videogame related, is that they're allergic to repeating patterns. When we're like "oh, they'll do this because in the past they did the same" they always end up changing things (or most of the times :P)

I'm happier the less things they reveal. SM (even if it was the first time they revealed so much) traumatized me for life. When the games leak a week earlier, I want to find out lots and lots of new Pokémon and things. Don't want to discover again that the only things they were holding back were Cosmoem and Marshadow (and some evos?).

Actually most of the Ultra Beasts weren't revealed, nor some random dudes like the water spiders and Dhelmise.

Barring the demo leak.

Yeah, I just looked back, there were some Alolan forms and new species unrevealed too

But anyways, it was a very small part compared to what we already knew. Unlike BW which felt like a whole new world of Pokémon that they have kept in secret until the release of the games.
