It varies from game to game, but usually PAL.Hello ResetERA
Does anyone know if the PS2 for PS4 games on the Australian STORE ARE the PAL or NTSC versions?
I'm curious if the PS1 on PS3 games are PAL or NTSC as well?
Thank you muchly.
I'd hazard it's much more likely due to licensing and getting the games to work properly in the emulator, but if anyone has proof to the contrary I'd love to read it.
Any PS2 game currently available for sale on the PS3 has already cleared all hurdles needed to sell digitally and is current. There's no reason for publishers to want to avoid selling those games on a much hotter platform.I'd hazard it's much more likely due to licensing and getting the games to work properly in the emulator, but if anyone has proof to the contrary I'd love to read it.
And Sony has stated outright several times that the trophies take a lot of work.
Why don't they just axe the trophy's and sell them like PS1/PSP classics?
Because they want a 'baseline' of support where every 'PS4' title has Trophies, SharePlay and Screenshot functionality.
There's an awful lot of speculation passed off as common sense in this post.Any PS2 game currently available for sale on the PS3 has already cleared all hurdles needed to sell digitally and is current. There's no reason for publishers to want to avoid selling those games on a much hotter platform.
The emulator on the PS4 has a variety of very resource hungry games that the PS3 emulator would have struggled with. Simply getting one game to work as well as these do would mean dozens more work by default, and it's difficult to imagine Sony taking the extra power of the PS4 and somehow making an emulator with worse compatibility than the one they used for PS2 Classics on the PS3.

You'll be waiting till the end of time. I can't imagine what sort of licensing nightmare that game is.
I find funny when people try to justify Sony. In my opinion all what Sony does, it needs to bring money as soon as possible. If Sony doesn't see the money immediately, they stop supporting that initiative. They did this already in the past with projects like Move, Vita, the 3D support for games during the Ps3 etc.
And they are doing it right now with PS2 Classics. Sony simply...tries, without even investing so much money or time on the project. If it's successful, they will keep on supporting it, if not they will dump it.
And with PS2 Classics Sony did so many wrong things, starting with the price, which is simply insane if compared to older games provided by GOG, Steam or whatever. Those are the original, untouched games running on an emulator. They only thing Sony does, it's introducing trophies, and they explained how tropy implementation works for PS2 games and it looks very easy to implement, honestly. But the price Sony asks for...is insane. It's totally random, with titles priced 20€ or more, some 15€, some 10€ and going on. There's not a vision, at least with PS1 Classic titles you had like two prices usually, here it seems each game has its own price.
If the PS2 Classics initiative failed, it's only Sony's fault.
Probably it's because Sony paid for Gaikai and they need to do something with it. Also I think enough people use PSNow, if Sony keeps on supporting it, probably enough people subscribed to the service in order to make it on staying alive. Well, for now at least.PlayStationNow is a failure too, but they keep supporting that. It's not even worth the servers they keep it on.

how can I find PS2 games section on the store?
I remember it was listed in the first column once you start the store.
US store btw.
I guess this explains why I never really come across them when I check the store.it's bit weird, but there's no PS2-on-PS4 games at all in Japanese PS Store.
edit: actually they started adding games – but I see only Jak1/2/3 there.
You would think with Xbox actively pursuing Xbox OG BC on Xbox One, sony would follow suit. I will always prefer PlayStation over xbox, but recently playstation have gotten so lazy and cocky that even their exciting features like trophies on PS2 games are slowly fading into the background of "I forgot they did that". I thought they were taking suggestions of games people want to put on their store? I understand there may be a case of licence and tech issues to iron out, but it would be nice to see they have acknoledged our requests, like a simple blog post of their playstation blog site. I want my Shadow Hearts 1-3 damn it!
Also, was JAX really worth the effort considering 1-3 had HD remakes on the PS3? Surely it would of been easier to port the PS3 HD Classics rather than programming the PS2 version.
You go to the "Explore" section under games then scroll all the way to the right and you should see it. It's basucally like upttung something on the bottom shelves at the far end of a closet. And they wonder why they don't sell.how can I find PS2 games section on the store?

Well, it's not that Sony prices their games right. Forbidden Siren is 10€, Arc is 15€, Rise of the Kasai is 15€...Sony has stated many times that Pubs set the prices for non-first-party content.
Well said! I agree completely, and will also be passing on PS5 if things don't improve on the BC front at least. Hopefully, Xbox's efforts in this area will force Sony to reevaluate their stance on this, and provide better legacy support in the future. It's such a shame that they have so many fantastic games on their previous platforms, yet view and treat them like trash.Sony is the absolute worst with their classic content. Out of the big 3, I'd argue they've been handling it the worst out of everyone. (Yes, even worse than Nintendo, who doesn't exactly do the best with their classic stuff either).
It's so frustrating that the PS2 on PS4 games have been all but buried on the store and there doesn't seem to be much else coming out. Big surprise, yet another program Sony dumped at the first sign of resistance. Not to mention the absurd prices attached to the games that ARE on there. Meanwhile PS Now is still limited to PS3/4 games, with no sign of that changing anytime soon. If I want to play Metal Gear Solid, I seriously have to dig out my PS3 and play it on there? Because reasons?
If Sony doesn't straighten out this BC/Classic stuff by the time PS5 rolls around, Xbox is going to get my money instead. The fact that it hasn't been sorted already and we're 4 years into the PS4's life doesn't give me much hope for the future.
You really think Sony engineered a new PS2 emulator from scratch just for the PS4? That would be a complete waste of time and resources. The PS4's PS2 emulator will be the "2.0" version of the PS3's PS2 emulator, with the same core but adding the ability to reward trophies, increase the native resolution (not just upscaling like the PS3's one) and so on.There's an awful lot of speculation passed off as common sense in this post.
Many but by no means all of the hurdles needed to republish the PS2 games on PS4 will be dealt with, but there are always new issues. The negotiations will have been for PS3 and PS3 only, so most negotiations will have to start again.
The emulator is entirely different to the PS3 one, so the idea that PS4>PS3 means it should be easier is just not correct. Especially as the PS3 emulator ups the resolution.
Also if Sony have said that adding trophy support takes tons extra work then fair enough, but imma need to see some receipts.
The real reason will be because:
-Sony do the emulation themselves, and I reckon they've just not put enough resource on it.
-Publishers prefer to release proper remasters or remakes and sell them for more than double the price. It's no coincidence that the PS2 games we've seen are Sony games, or games that were never going to get a proper remaster. It could also add a layer of complexity because publishers would be undecided as to whether they'd consider a full remaster in the future, and then they'd err on the side of safety and not do a PS2 Classic as a result.
Obviously last few points are my conjecture
Star Ocean 3 as well.it's bit weird, but there's no PS2-on-PS4 games at all in Japanese PS Store.

Konami don't want to pay the licensing or something for the OST or voice actors or something like that.

That's why they changed shit in that ReAsster for PS360.
Obviously I have no actual insight, but I'd be willing to bet most, if not all, of the emulator was built from scratch for the PS4, considering the massive architectural differences between the two systems. You really think Sony engineered a new PS2 emulator from scratch just for the PS4? This would be my guess as well, that they've had to mostly start over on their emulator due to this.Obviously I have no actual insight, but I'd be willing to bet most, of not all, of the emulator was built from scratch for the PS4, considering the massive architectural differences between the two systems.
good luck :)

A shame that Budokai 3 isnt on this, the potential for this initiative is massive if they took it seriously like Microsoft but instead they rather half-ass it, a damn shame really.Man I'm sad we definitely won't get niche anime fighting games like Dragon Ball Z Infinite World or just even Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Such a wasted opportunity. It's literally the only way BT3 could probably come out since Bamco seems unwilling to do any remastered collection of 1-3.
Right? I'm loving FighterZ, but boy I'd pay double for the Budokai collection to be ported over.Man I'm sad we definitely won't get niche anime fighting games like Dragon Ball Z Infinite World or just even Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3. It's on the PS Store, but only for PS3.I just want Suikoden IV. I know it's not the best one but it's the only one of the original five that I haven't played, and that series will probably never be seen again in the form that it was.
Along with the rest of the PS2 games people actually want.
