First time player, will I be lost story-wise?
I hope it's newbie friendly .
I think I'm going to jump in.

There's no vibration? Strange. I didn't even notice.Enjoying the game so far, but the complete lack of rumble is unfortunate. Playing so much PS5, I've gotten used to the tactile feedback. I know the Series X/S's rumble is way less sophisticated, but I would have thought we'd have something there at least.
There's a video that plays when you first start the game that recaps the previous Psychonauts games to get you up to speedFirst time player, will I be lost story-wise?

I was hoping to have completed the first game before this one, but it didn't really stick with me past the first hour and a half. Should I still hop into this right away or make my way through the original first?
Hey so I sent the email but I have news! So not happy with just giving up and going to bed I decided to crawl the internet and see if anyone else had this issue with any other games and sure enough there's like a kajillion of em, so I tried all kinds of shit and was about to give when all the way buried in a single reddit post someone had the same issue and the only response was this one guy that was like "Oh yeah just kill sonic studio 3, unreal engine games hates that shit" and I was like waitaminute.....I got that crap on here AND SURE ENOUGH I uninstall that and BAM I'm in!Ah, ok, in that case it would be great if you could attach a crash dump to the email - you can find them at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Psychonauts2\Saved\Crashes
Thanks!
The combat is atrocious and the enemies have health bars and are super sponges? I just can't wrap my head around these decisions.
There's an option to massively increase damage dealt to enemies, have you tried that? The combat is atrocious and the enemies have health bars and are super sponges? I just can't wrap my head around these decisions.
I usually try and see the best in games no matter what, and I love Double Fine, but this game is starting to suck. Every time it gets going I'm hit with another cutscene. It's not that funny and it keeps shoving these scenes at you 😒
Having to constantly change the control scheme seems so strange; I changed the float to jump button, but you have to press it 3 times instead of just holding after double jump like every other game in existence.

Oh well, I'm glad everyone else likes it. Just not hitting the notes for me. Which is an ultra bummer cause I like everything else about the game. 😭
Yeah, I've just done the first area and no major concerns.Been working perfect for me outside occasional stutter for a second in newly loaded areas.
i just got to "the questionable area" and i can't believe how big this game is — it's been a while since i've played a 3D platformer that's structured like this. i'm super impressed.
Finished the intro area, liking it so far. Took my time talking to everybody and looking at environmental details. Some are pretty fun.

No, Ima actually try that. See if it's more enjoyable for me.
Yeah, you can feel that first party polish. Unlike any DF game I've played.Just finished the first level and wow, the level of polish is just outstanding. Doesn't feel like the usual Double Fine jank haha.
I just finished Psychonauts the day before yesterday, so coming into this has been something for sure. It all feels so fresh and smooth and shiny now!
How do you get the bag behind the picture in the first tutorial area part? Lol
Move to "RISK" then turn around follow the dots (not any of the other words) until you wrap around to "MONEY"
Yeah, performance is not great on my pc (especially after excellent Gears 5 optimization), also stutterfest..
Which setting is most demanding?
So GP users (which i'm) are screwed (for now) 😑Se my post here to switch to DX11 if you are on steam or GOG. Maxwell/Pascal cards generally do better with DX11 then DX12, i saw a 30 fps boost and it fixed the stuttering completely. If you are on gamepass you are unfortunately sol atm.

Ah ok, so I was right about that generating shaders was tied to stuttering, the many hours wasted on Cemu has thought me that at least. The game is set to DX12 mode by default which always has shader generation stuttering in UE4. This can be changed with the command line -dx11 which will start the game in DX11 mode.
Note the Game pass version can't be changed to DX11 and will always run in DX12 mode this was the same in other UE4 game pass titles like the Ascent dunno why.
Spoilers for the first mission.
Can the first mission (Doctor Lobato's mind) be completed 100% the first time playing it? I have some missing bits and luggages that I could not get to.
