I don't expect Wesker to act the same in front of Chris as he would in front of the ladies.
They have very witless retorts overall (unless Saddler saying he'll "Help Leon awaken from a world of clichés" by transforming into a clichéd last boss and being defeated in the most cliché way imaginable is some kind of next-level meta wit).No it isn't. Even the villains in that game quip about and play along with how ridiculous everything is.
You calling me stupid aside, I don't see the "poking fun of itself" in RE4 outside of some of Leon's comments. You'd have to be really dense to not see how self depreciating RE4 is, it's poking fun of itself from beginning to end. I can see the argument for "RE4 isn't as funny as the other games, because for the first time the cheese is intentional rather than accidental" but to think they expected players to take the entire thing 100% seriously makes me want whatever you were smoking while playing.
Might not be your cup of tea, but it's absolutely self aware.
I don't expect Wesker to act the same in front of Chris as he would in front of the ladies.
Some people think Wesker's single, defining appearance is his RE5 persona. He's really unhinged by that time, but he's a cold and calculating villain first and foremost considering the rest of the series.About Wesker having a kid; Jake was born in 1992 which is obviously six years before RE1, so imo it's not too out there for Wesker to have a relationship with a woman in his early career only to ditch her and continue working with Umbrella.

There are literally multiple scenes where the villains call out Leon for his overbearing cliche's and corniness, Leon and Salazar break the 4th wall by talking about the audience and remarks about how lame the script is, Saddler literally just laughs at Leon when he utters out cheese, you don't need a magnifying glass to see that it's clearly aware of itself.I don't expect Wesker to act the same in front of Chris as he would in front of the ladies.

That's not even meta wit, it's just self awareness. RE4 rarely if ever tries to be melodramatic. Now compare that villain to the villains of RE6, as well as the characterization, and you get the point. RE6's story, to be blunt, is very very stupid and presented in the most straight faced way. Are the characters deep in RE4? No, should they be? Yea that's also a no. They aren't deep in RE6 either. They have very witless retorts overall (unless Saddler saying he'll "Help Leon awaken from a world of clichés" by transforming into a clichéd last boss and being defeated in the most cliché way imaginable is some kind of next-level meta wit).
I think you're confusing the ridiculousness of the plot for wit that isn't actually there. I'm of the opinion that it's a weak script where any attempt at humor is just bad emulation of action films, but you seem to think this emulation is self-awareness somehow. There are literally multiple scenes where the villains call out Leon for his overbearing cliche's and corniness, Leon and Salazar break the 4th wall by talking about the audience and remarks about how lame the script is, Saddler literally just laughs at Leon when he utters out cheese, you don't need a magnifying glass to see that it's clearly aware of itself.
Eh, again, Wesker was never as single-minded as he was in RE5.The idea of Wesker holding a conversation concerning anything BUT his work is hilarious.
Sounds like he just wanted to insult Leon and did so with clichéd dialogue.
I stand by my original statement, you'd have to be dense to not realize the game is self aware when the game stops multiple times and speaks directly to the audience. Hell I'd think a Metal Gear fan would get this more than others, Hunnigan even breaks the 4th wall not even an hour into the game the same way Colonel and Mei Leng do in MGS1. "Snake press the select button to use the Codec" in addition to many other MGS references. It's a game that knows it's a game in the same way metal gear directly speaks to the player and that's present from the very start.I think you're confusing the ridiculousness of the plot for wit that isn't actually there. Is more like CAPCOM don't know how to develop character growth. Leon and Claire become entire different characters as the story progresses. In Rev2 Claire doesn't know how to talk with children anymore, keeps quoting Steve ("a gun is more reliable than any person"). Leon is split in 4 different personas: The RE2 Leon, a rookiee policeman, acting by the rules, the RE4 Leon full of sarcasm, quips and one-liners, the RE6/Damnation/Degeneration Leon who can't barely put a smile anymore and the Vendetta "Punished" Leon who is literally RE6 Chris.Someone earlier pointed out how out of character it was for Claire to be less warmhearted in Rev2 and now seeing everyone talking about 4, 5, and 6's story and characters my theory is that Claire slowly became more cold and cynical somewhere around 2005 when she started noticing how all her friends and family were becoming idiots.
I think its pretty impolite to call others stupid just because they don't share your opinions.I stand by my original statement, you'd have to be dense to not realize the game is self aware when the game stops multiple times and speaks directly to the audience. Like I said, you can not like the writing, it's pretty spotty in places I agree, but arguing it's not aware of itself is absurd, there's too many examples otherwise.
Jake is like a fan fiction character that somehow made it into the game. RE6's story is so bad.
I honestly don't know why Jake was mad that Chris killed his father. Like did he even research his daddy.
I don't expect Wesker to act the same in front of Chris as he would in front of the ladies.
Doesn't he spend a whole lot of time saying he's nothing like his father, admitting he was a bad man - only to somehow be upset to learn that Chris was the one that killed him? Just like with Leon suddenly acting like a rookie when the president turns into a zombie and attacks, it feels like they just wrote shit to create drama - consistency and common sense be damned.
We're literally shown how Wesker acts "around the ladies."
The idea of Wesker holding a conversation concerning anything BUT his work is hilarious.
Oh yeah it was definitely for drama, tbh I zoned out through most of Jakes boring story. Only the Sherry being healed by the G Virus stuff interested me.
You're probably right about him saying he's not like Wesker.
He's just got to understand Chris did the world a huge favour killing him.
Yeah, but that's Excella. How does he act around Rebecca, his secret weakness?
Hell yea he was.Eh, again, Wesker was never as single-minded as he was in RE5.
E3 season is truly over.
If you haven't seen this already, please enjoy! Never fails to make me laugh.

Genuinely try to imagine Wesker having a conversation that doesn't involve viruses in some way shape or form. Hammy ass Wesker.Maybe the realization of decades of scheming is simply more important than having sex with your horny business partner. That absolutely does not make Wesker uninterested in the opposite sex in a general sense.
Complete Global Satisfaction! My sperm will be released into the atmosphere creating a new race and I will be it's ruler.
There are already more rooms in the demo then there were in the actual game so that's looking like a likely scenario.I'm struggling to find how this thread got on such a Wesker kick. Are people hoping he's given a bigger presence in the RE2 Remake or something?
Does any think they will or hoping they will add a whole new section and boss like they did for REmake with the Lisa area?
I hope Wesker has cameo RE4 style when he contacts Ada. Would be amazing.
The sexual tension when he hears Chris's name is off the charts. The idea of Wesker holding a conversation concerning anything BUT his work is hilarious.
Hahaha I love this thread so much. You guys are all truly out of your damn minds.
Do we have 4K footage of this yet I can download?
9 minutes in and I had to pause the video because I fucking lost it at the falling exploding barrel. Oh my God, that is so deliciously dumb! I think I'll stop and save the rest for my playthrough. lol
