I get that people didn't like Roche and that's fine, but Heidegger man, Heidegger... What a terrible, terrible villain and water off screen time every fucking time he was on screen. Did you really hate Roche more than Heidegger?

Reminder that people have different tolerance levels for them.Reminder that FF7 had anime tropes well before Remake and Advent Children.
I mean, I got a memorable character, great music and a fun boss fight.Heidegger was better and we got the up your ass scene from him unlike Roche who we got fuck all from but 100% entire cringe.

Heidegger was bad in the OG but he's so fucking worse in Remake yeah. That's the problem of adding more scenes to characters without stepping outside of one of their character traits, ending up being caricatures of the originals. This often happens too much (IMO) in Remake.
I guess Poochie hurts more because he's an original character, instead of an OG (turned up worse) character, and because he's so blatanty filler than they don't even bother to make him appear again after he did his job of filling up some Midgar hours.

The real question is: does he fuck guys and girls more or his bike more?
Not sure how anyone could enjoy the original FF7 if a character like Roche showing up for a short amount of time bothers you.Reminder that people have different tolerance levels for them.

This isn't much of a big spoiler or anything but since OP hasn't played much of the game I'm putting it in spoilers anyways
It's dumb that the game introduces him in a way that makes him seem like a reoccurring character only for him to never show up again. He could have been cool but as is it's whatever.
Heidegger was way more cringey and he was also boring AND he's also in the original.
Roche was fun.
Yeah, Roche is the perfect marketing filler cool character that appeals to the impresionable.
Can I introduce you to our lord and savior Zagi?I hope he becomes a joke boss in the rest of the series like Gilgamesh or the octopus in FF6.
I thought he was awful. A charisma vacuum nothing character.
I liked Johnny a lot though.
I don't think it's that. I've heard criticism and praise for him on both sides from people who played the original and who those who haven't. There are far worse detours from the main story in Remake.I think your opinion on Roche changes based on whether you played the original or not. I haven't so I found him enjoyable and wondered where the fuck he went. For others, he probably seems like an irritant to an already established story.
I was searching for the words and this said it better than I could. I didn't want to have fun but I couldn't help it.

I liked Roche because he helps players understand SOLDIER more. He is an intentionally over the top character to show how unhinged and messed up SOLDIERs can be. I think this, in combination with learning about the Mako-induced cellular degradation later on, has interesting implications for our central protagonist Cloud. Sometimes characters are good not because of their individual qualities, but because of how they mirror or compare with members of the main cast. I can dislike a character's personality, but still appreciate their presence in a story because of what they mean for the other more important characters.
I'd be very surprised if he does not come back in the sequels. If he does not return, then I'd say his introduction was more of a waste with no payoff as many others here seem to think, but the jury is honestly still out on that.
Yeah he rocked imo. A lot of fun, added some spice to a sequence in a game that I have played many times over.Blantant filler, but I actually quite enjoyed him. More like that.
He still snuck the advent children in. The 3 whispers you fight at the end are a reference to them.Nomura wanted to put those 3 weird bros from Advent Children into the game, so he created Roche.
